Clod Ensemble is one of the UK’s leading interdisciplinary theatre companies, known for creating visually stunning, aurally complex performances. For over two decades, director Suzy Willson and composer Paul Clark have developed a highly original performance language, creating provocative, finely crafted work, ambitious in scale and concept.

ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER ROLE

Having recently undergone a transformative period of organisational and artistic development, enabled in part by a £1m investment from Wellcome Trust, we are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Executive Producer to join us, to provide exceptional leadership on our performance programme and to steer the organisation through a prolific period of activity and strategic development. ,

Over the next five years we are embarking on world class collaborations which present completely new artistic challenges for us, drawing inspiration from theatre, dance, visual art, contemporary and classical music, jazz, opera, medicine and architecture. An outstanding performance programme will inspire people of all ages and abilities to appreciate the power of music and movement, and to have a deeper understanding of their own potential for physical and musical expression.

The Executive Producer will be supported by a skilled, dynamic and committed team, working alongside the newly created role of Executive Director of Performing Medicine (who will be responsible for our award winning programme for healthcare professionals), and reporting to the Artistic Directors and Board of Trustees.

Clod Ensemble | Executive Producer

Full Time – 3 year fixed term contract

Salary: £38,000 - £42, 000 per annum depending on experience

Objectives of Post With the Artistic Directors, you will take a central role in shaping Clod Ensemble’s creative work and strategic plans, building on the artistic excellence and innovation the company is known for. Responsible to: Artistic Directors (CEO) and Board of Directors Responsible for: General Manager, Producer, Communications and Marketing Manager, PR Consultant; Accountant Key Responsibilities:

• To position and programme Clod Ensemble’s work in the UK and internationally, developing commissioning and co-producing relationships. • To take the lead on developing new partnerships and creative collaborations. • To work with the Artistic Directors to develop new productions. • To nurture and oversee relationships with existing strategic partners in the UK. • To bring new audiences to our work nationally and internationally, and to consolidate our existing loyal audience base across a range of sectors, including arts, science and medicine. • To work closely with the Producer, supporting her to negotiate deals and to deliver well-resourced, well-executed productions and tours, and to plan production budgets. • To oversee the programming of the wraparound talks and workshops that support productions. • To provide leadership for Reboot, Clod Ensemble’s Artist Development programme; curating seasons with the Artistic Directors. • To lead on long-term planning and strategic development, to secure the organisation’s sustainability.

Company registered in England No. 3251449 Charity registration No. 1064633/0 VAT Registration No. 769 3918 69 • To ensure the company has excellent governance in place, working with the Chair of the Board of Trustees and Artistic Directors. • To have strategic oversight of participation projects Living Room Music and Extravagant Acts for Mature People projects. • To work with Executive Director of Performing Medicine to ensure that the programme is meeting strategic objectives and income targets. • To be responsible for maintaining excellent relationships with regular funders, including Arts Council England and Wellcome, working with the Development Manager to oversee the monitoring of and reporting on these funding agreements. • To work with the Executive Director of Performing Medicine and the Development Manager to develop and implement the organisation’s fundraising strategy, including identifying strategic funding opportunities. • To maintain best practice in relation to Human Resources, including employment policies and management systems such as appraisals, ensuring compliance with all legal obligations. • To ensure compliance with all relevant legal obligations and requirements including Companies Act, charity law, insurance, and data protection. • To have the overall responsibility for the prudent use of resources across the company, and for the preparation and monitoring of annual company budgets with the Accountant and Finance Subcommittee. • To have the overall responsibility for the smooth running of the organisation’s day-to-day operations and communications.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Desirable

Experience & A minimum of five years’ X Knowledge experience as a senior producer/artistic programmer of festivals, or a performance company.

A strong track record in X producing successful performing arts productions of an interdisciplinary nature, particularly middle to large scale, and experience of booking, setting up and managing tours in the UK & abroad.

Able to lead and inspire X creative, office and production teams.
