3nd Thousand - September 2019 Dear Reader, You have in your hands an original book that was written after a long and painstaking effort of research on behalf of the author on a subject which has never been tackled before of the Emperor of the Ioannis Vatatzis. Since, the Fall of Constaninople by The Ottoman Turks for hundreds of years it was believed that the Marble King was the last Emperor of The Byzantium the Constantinos ! But for the first time, after extensive research, Mr. Georgios Valavanis proves to the World that it is Saint Ioannis Vatatzis who is the six-toed Marble Emperor about whom 14 Prophets have shown that certain events will take place dur- ing the coming of the 3rd World war! It is a book which should not be read lightly and which I believe is a gift from the Lord, for upon reading it one shall recognize the events we are wit- nessing today. All the 14 Prophecies bear witness to what we are about to en- counter and thanks to the author Mr. George Valavanis, who has opened our minds to the truth. On my behalf I would like to thank Mr. Georgios Valavanis for entrusting the English translation of his monumental book, which I undertook with great pleasure. Throughout the translation I was astounded at what I read. I do not know if the result is worthy of the book but it is an exact translation of the au- thor’s written word, whose intensive research and undying dedication for the six-toed emperor have given us the knowledge to believe in his existence. I would also like to thank my Greek-American wife Lily Athanasiou who as- sisted me in the translation of the book and who did most of the proof-read- ing. Sincerely, John Lamprogiannis English as A Second Language Teacher Tranlator, Author CPE - TEFL University of Michigan Mob.: +30 698 5978389 - E-mail: [email protected] SAINT IOANNIS VATATZIS

SAINT IOANNIS DOUKAS VATATZIS was born in 1193 in the his- toric Castle of , Didimoticho. He came from a family that was close to the royal senate, since his grandfather Konstantinos, Vatatzis, was Army Master of King Emmanuel . The memory of St. Ioannis Vatatzis the Merciful is celebrated and honoured in Byzantine on No- vember 4th. The portable of the Saint, on which his is written, is treasured by the people: There is also the Sacred service of the Saint and the Solicitation prayer, and his name is mentioned in the Sacred Holy Book of .

Apolitikion "To the brilliant King and the great boast of the faithful and the power of the nymphs, Ioannis we honor his memory, in hymns and spiritual odes, in accordance we recite" Glory be honoured to you, glory to the crown, glory to those acting on your behalf and performing acts of re- cuperation”

This book is a book of prophecies of the Holy Fathers of the Or- thodox Church. It is useful to those who want to know what will happen in the future. To know the facts that are about to take place in the future. We have researched many different prophetic and historical books to inform the world about the Holy Emperor Ioannis Vatatzis, who until now was unknown. We were the first to write about Ioan- nis Vatatzis. Before us, no one had written anything about Him…

- 3- The Holy of Hagia !

The Venetians, admired the precious and famous Holy Altar of , precious and beautiful, they took it out of the tem- ple and put it on a boat and as they set sail and set out for behold the miracle! Near the island of Marmaras, the ship was cut in half and the Holy Altar fell into the sea and sank and is still there to this day, and this is obvious and everyone testifies to this, because when this area becomes stormy, rough and the sea creates huge and gigantic waves, the place in wihich the Holy Altar is positioned in the sea remains peaceful and undisturbed.

This book, is the first book that refers to the Merciful, who was unknown to everyone, first published in 2005.

When I first decided to publish the book in 2005 to gather the known prophecies about the events of the end of time and to restore the truth to the "marbled king," I did not expect that such an effort would have received such acceptance in such a short period of time from all faithful believers worldwide. Within thirteen years, there have been 34 refined and augmented new publications, which have been printed in four languages (Greek 27 editions, English 3 editions, German 1 edition and Russian 3 editions). Many of the 26.000 Greek books that have been printed have been distributed to believers who have asked for them from various parts of the world: from the Monastery of Ephraim in Arizona, USA to Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, , , Mexico and Germany, be- cause they are concerned about the global events that are about to happen. In addition, thousands of Internet users read the online version of the book on our website.

- 9- To date, 620.715 views have been recorded from 109 countries. Most readers of the printed book and e-publishing ver- sion, amongst them reputable scientists and scholars, have expressed positive comments about the magnitude of the research that has led to the assembling for the first time of a book of 14 prophecies by prophets who speak of the 3rd World War, about the the Marble Emperor of Byzantium St. Ioannis Vatatzis. It is revealed for the first time. This particular Emperor and Saint of our Church unfor- tunately has been ignored by most believers, even though his life in the Holy Book of Saints is mentioned, as is the Sacred Service written by St. Nicodemus the Athonite and the Book of Prayers, and our church celebrates his mem- ory on 4 November. (An exception is Metropolitan Dam- ascene, who inaugurated a Holy Church in memory of Saint Ioannis at Didymoteicho, whose inauguration took place on November 4, 2010). The book was recognized by simple laymen, reputable Byzantinists, historians and theologians. Rare material and written prophecies have begun to be verified - unfortu- nately - by the events of the last few years. In every new version the book is enriched with new elements.

- 10 - The Inaugural Opening of the Holy Church of St. Ioannis Vatatzis and then Vespers of the Eminence of the Metropo- lite of Didymoteicho, Orestiados and Soufliou, Mr. Damask- inos.

Constantine was the beginning and Constantine lost the dawn of the Byzantium. The world knows nothing about the Holy Emperor Ioan- nis Vatatzis and thinks that the Marble Emperor who will arise is the last Emperor of the Byzantium, Constantine Palaiologos. This is what the folk tradition says. In fact, however, the book does not mentior the folk tra- dition. Here, are 14 holy prophets who prophesied about the future of the world: They prophesied about the SIX-TOED EMPEROR Saint Ioannis Vatatzis and of the upcoming world events that will shock mankind.

- 11 - PROLOGUE (Saint Ioannis Vatatzis the Six-toed, emperor of the Byzantium, the Great Merciful One).

For at least three decades, I have shared with other Pa- triots and Christians my anxiety about a possible Third World War and the testing of Hellenism and humanity in general. Through legends and folk traditions. These leg- ends spoke of the "marbled king," who is a stranger and has left work unfinished, which, with the help of , will be arisen to complete it. But who is this "marbled Em- peror"? What is his role, and how does he relate to what is going on in the wider region? In search of the identity of this person, who is related as I mentioned to the shocking upcoming events for Hel- lenism, I was consumed by a struggle to gather all the prophecies referring to the Savior Emperor. The material was scarce and scattered and that's why it took about twenty-five years. (I did the research on , and all the Monasteries of Greece).

- 12 - From the study of the fourteen prophecies that I have collected and published on the following pages of this book, I found that the six-toed marble King is Ioannis Vatatzis, the emperor of the Byzantium, who was six- toed and was also called the "Great Merciful One." I would like to thank the Metropolite of Messinia of the GOC. Mr. Gregorios, who confirmed my estimations and helped me to collect some of the material, as well as the Athonites of Mount Athos: the Abbot of Makaristos Efthymios of Esphigmenos and the ascetic brethren Nanopuloi Father Theophylaktos and Panteleimon. Confirmation was received by Father Efraim from Ari- zona, USA. Also the Metropolite of Magnesia GOC Max- imos and other ascetics of Mount Athos. I thank my friend Dimitrios Spachos who helped me with the codes. Also my beloved friends Ioannis and Kalliopi Bagana for their valuable help. Finally, I would like to point out that I have preserved the way of writing and the syntax of the prophecies, as tradition has preserved them so far.

- 13 - How will the Emperor be arisen? We respond: "Wher- ever there is God’s will, it prevails over the rule of na- ture." For the first time, a book of prophecies was written in Greece, exclusively about the Marble Emperor Saint Ioan- nis Vatatzis and about what is going to happen in the Byzan- tium.

- 19 - The Saintly and Pious Emperor IOANNIS Doukas Vatatzis, The Merciful One from Magnesia

The whole of his life was translated by Saint in a simple manner in which he summarized this here recorded synaxarion but also a whole chanting service from the beginning, which the sacred Nicodemus himself elab- orated to his royal majesty. This King Ioannis friend of Christ, whom had the great city of Adrianople as his homeland and had as ancestors the first of the Royal Senate, due to the fact that his grandfather Konstantinos Vatatzis, was commander dur- ing the reign of King Manuel of Komninos in 1143. And after the death of the king's parents, there was much wealth left to him, which he distributed amongst the poor, and to the dedications of divine and churches. Then he marched to the Nymphaeum in , where the palace and the of the Kings of Con- stantinople were at that time. There he found his pater- nal uncle, who was a cleric and a priest, by the reigning King Theodoros of , in the year 1206.

- 20 - Through his uncle, he became a friend of the King, but he did not pride himself on this friendship, he treated ev- eryone in a humble manner, and therefore was loved by all, being modest and living a prudent life. He was ac- cessible to all, meek, harmless, peaceful, and conversed with everyone in a peaceful manner. And therefore, be- cause of these virtues, he wed the King’s daughter Irene, after dueling with Koraton who boasted of his strength, and upon beating him, said, “Lord Christ, help me”. After his father-in-law King Theodoros died, the grace- fully named Ioannis became King, in the year 1222. He became an ardent protector of all the underprivileged, showing great justice, and was recognized by all as a source of charity, and, above all, he was proclaimed to be merciful and this merciful King heard the divine voice in his mind which said “The crucified One will rise, the boaster will fall, the fallen and crushed will stand up “ Due to this voice he was strengthened, and as a result he defeated and slaughtered the Sultan named Azattin, who coming from Ikonium, ravaged the cities near the river Meandros. Governing in accordance to God’s will the vessel of the universal Kingdom the brilliant one, delivered his soul in peace to the hands of God, at the age of sixty-

- 21 - one. His holy body was buried in the Monastery of Christ the Savior, which the king himself had built, and named “Sosadra”, after which, by the revelation of the same King, his Holy Body was moved to the city of Magnesia. A great miracle took place, when the relic was trans- ferred from the tomb and taken to Magnesia, “for when the tomb was opened no putrid odor came out but a fra- grance and grace, mixed with sweetness, as if a garden had opened, aromatic and fragrant. The deceased ap- peared to be sitting on a royal , without any of his joints being undone, without bearing any bruises, with- out any stench, or without any other sign of death, “but having been buried seven years before, he appeared to be alive, his limbs having their natural movement, his cheeks having their natural red colour, but also the royal layers of clothing of the corpse were preserved intact, as if sewn that very same day. This is the manner in which God gives glory to those who glorify Him. Since then, his holy relic performed many miracles in Magnesia, healing diseases, exorcising demons curing the faithful of various sinful passions by the grace of God to all who came and sought his help. Some of the mira- cles he performed are widely mentioned in his life’s story. Through your Saints, Christ our Lord show mercy upon us.

- 22 - Ioannis Vatatzis was one of the greatest em- perors of the Byzantium. (1222-1254) He became the true father of the wish- ing to eliminate the exploitation of the people in every way, wishing to completely eliminate the injustice of his State and taking measures against the exploitation of the poor and ordinary people. He reduced taxes by relieving the mid- dle classes and raising the standard of living of the citizens. He constantly lived every minute not as a king who expects riches and glory but as a man who was entrusted by God to rule for the benefit of the people by showing the succeeding genera- tions how a Greek Orthodox leader ought to be.

GREECE TODAY IS GOING THROUGH THE SAME DAYS OF THE BYZANTIUM

- 23 - The Prophecy of Saint Methodius 311 A.D. Agios Methodious 311 AD.

”And the fair haired nation will prevail on the city of seven hills for five months and cabbages will be planted there and will be eaten in revenge of the saints”. During these months the Russians will become angry with the Asian Turks. Saint Methodious also says: “They will prevail in the East, and strike upon the and drive them away to Cologne”. This concept that the Russians with the allies will ap- point a committee of three persons called Providers, who will govern the East, and continue with the severity, the Asian war against Asia, where battles will take place with myriads dying in combat, because of the desperation of the Asians. Those who are defeated by the Russians will be expelled to Cologne, that is to say, the interior of Asia. The question will arise of the existence of the City, so the Nations will coalesce against desiring to rule the city, Saint Methodious says:

- 24 - “The rulers of the army, namely the kings, will quarrel amongst themselves as to who will rule” We are unaware if Russia has any allies, the description of the war, that follows is according to Saint Methodious: “After the above disputes between Russia and the other Powers, the northern nations of will be in a state of great violence and anger for the East, and will be divided into four principalities, that is, large bodies which will first occupy , secondly, Melagia, third Akrokampon, namely , and fourth Bethany. “ To do so, these Nations will gather all their naval forces and enter the boundaries of (). At the same time, and virtually for the same reason, the Nations in the South, that is, Greece, will also be- come agitated, and the great Philip will rise, speaking eighteen languages, referring to the great inexperience and multi-nationalism of the 18 Nations, “NATO” , and will act accordingly. Therefore, all these Nations will gather in Constantinople and will rage a great and terri- ble war within the City and around it, by land and by sea, never before has such a war been witnessed in the World. All nations will slaughter and shatter each other in rage. Such will be the slaughter, that blood will not only fill the cavities of Eptalopheus (the city of seven hills) but also all its surfaces, that even a three-year-old

- 25 - calf may drown in the blood. And this human blood, becoming a river because of its great quantity, will be spilled into the sea, in the length of eighteen stadia- which corresponds to two and two stadia, and will blur the water to its depth. Then the bull will help, and the arid hill will mourn, and then the horses will stand and will not go forward anymore be- cause of the corpses, the blood and the heartbreaking cries of the troops. This is what Saint Methodious says about this terrible 3rd World War, adding, that “all sinners will be wounded”. Advancing further Leo the Wiseman says that, ”All men who are believers and disbelievers shall be afflicted, and suffer the wrath of those days, for the seven plagues and the two reapings of the Revelation shall fall upon the world”. Because of all of the above, the believers, hitting their heads, will cast their faces to the ground and will tearfully invoke the Lord in order to cease the wickedness and suffering and to bring peace to the world. The invocation of the believers will be heard by the Lord Pentocrator who will send His in the form of a man to the Orthodox, righteous, virtuous and pious IOANNIS who coming from a background of the Byzan- tine Royal family, sleeping in a subterranean church in

- 26 - Constantinople for countless years, with divine provi- dence, as a solution to the Eastern affair, resolved cen- turies ago by God, and through the salvation in Christ of all the universe. The Angel in the form of a man shall come up to him and immediately awaken him from a long sleep and shall anoint him with the holy oil of Kings, and saying to him first “Rise you who sleeps, and come out of the tomb and Christ will bring light to you because he calls upon you to bring back the faith to the chosen and holy people. And upon the second time he will tell him, “Come out from hiding, do not hide anymore, for many are looking for you” having said the above he will deliver stone slabs on which are carved orders of what should be done upon regaining the Kingdom, he will tell him thus “Satisfy, Ioannis the God of Heaven and Earth, who has been of- fended by the works of the wicked and unlawful, estab- lish in his people the true orthodox faith of the Lord Our Savior of the world Jesus Christ. Establish moral princi- ples, place worthy priests and high priests that express their gratification and rejoice in the glory of the Holy Trin- ity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”. All the above having taken place, and the plight of civil war between the nations, Saint Methodious and Leon the Wise realised very clearly, “that from the sky of darkness

- 27 - above the city of Constantinople a glorious divine light as a of fire shall fall, that very star that appeared at the birth of Christ, in the midst of the city, over the tem- ple of the Immaculate Mother of the Lord, the third day and the third hour, and at the same time, the preaching voice of an invisible angel shall proclaim: “Stand, stand in fear, peace to you, enough on the vengeance of the disbelievers and disobedient ….... go fast to the West and to the right of the Eptalopheus (the City of the seven Hills), and there you shall find the ca- pable man, a friend of God, the wise man, the righteous, of royal blood, wearing poor clothes, the merciful, for- boading in sight and gentle in mind, standing between two , and you shall proclaim him as King”. Fol- lowing this extraordinary event, we see Leo the Wise, this preaching and revelation of this divine King by the angel will be borne within three and a half days, and the signs of the above phenomena will remain. Having seen these glorious events taking place, the people slaughtering each other inside and outside of Ep- talofos (Constantinople), and having heard the thunder- ous voice of the angel, will immediately cease the slaughtering, be overwhelmed by excitement, come to great ecstasy, and will be filled with joy and fear, they will pray to God in tears to reveal to them as soon as

- 28 - possible the one proclaimed King by the herald angel, because they would be in no position due to the slaugh- tering, and due to their great surprise and emotion, to recognize him immediately. In accordance, the Lord God will grant this invocation and will reveal him to the world for the sake of the cho- sen one in this way: After three days have gone by, dur- ing which the King will be announced by the Angel, with all the above signs, what is asserted to the nations by God will eventually appear in the Sky over Eptalophos as a bright cloud, brighter than the sun, from which the whole world will be illuminated, having a circumference of a threshing field. At the same time, by the will of God, a purple cross will be hanging and to its left a rainbow, put there by God, as an eternal testament, and they will be holding a at the same time in the air, according to the reliable holy tradition, at this staggering and important event they will be holding an icon of the Mother of God and the will be lauding the Immaculate Mary and the Savior of the World. When this event takes place, the end of the rainbow being on the outward part of the cross will rise with di- vine energy and turn in the air towards the two columns, where the Saint King Ioannis will be standing. The peo-

- 29 - ple upon seeing him will praise the Lord and then will run towards the end of the rainbow, worshipping and re- ceiving the old King with candles and laurels, so as to be present in the prayer of giving thanks and the prayer to the great Zion. The angel of the Lord in great glory in this circumstance and in a thunderous voice will ask the peo- ple: “Is He likeable to you? Upon hearing this question they will be overcome with great fear, horror and be as if in a trance. And with tearful eyes, their hands raised to the sky they will cry out: “Yes, Lord, he is likeable to us, because it is You who sent him to us through your great mercy” Then they will lead Him amidst hymns and odes to the Great Zion, that is to say, to the of Hagia Sophia in order for him to pray, raising Him up to a high place to proclaim him in a loud voice King, and their Father. Upon this outcry, Saint Methodious completes this moving description of Leo the Wise. He tells us, that a pious Angel visible and perceptible by the senses of the people, and having a scepter of the Holy Cross, will set a crown of glory on the head of the proclaimed King, and will deliver his presence to the people: “Be brave, Ioan- nis, and overpower and defeat your enemies” and Leo

- 30 - the Wise says (the Service remaining endless at that blessed era) that the Patriarch of the Orthodox will ad- dress him acknowledging the cause of this great glory, that the reason for this glory of the Saintly King lies in his fear of the Lord, his ultimate piousness, faith, justice, virtue and the unity of his soul. Saint Agathangelos briefly expresses through the fol- lowing few words the incidence: “A man thus blessed when fearing the Lord ...”. Our holy tradition also adds that during this formal enthronement of the Saintly King, all the ascetics of the mountains and caves and all the virtuous will be present and rejoicing they will show their grace through their presence on this bright and glorious day, of the glory of God and the grandeur of the Orthodox. Saint Tarasios calls him specifically the Saintly King, for his great virtue, purity and Holiness. We look at the works of the admirable Saint and the great King according to the oracles. “When he receives the throne of St. Constantine, he wil be given by God, as Leo the Wise says, two angels in the likeness of men dressed in white, who shall be whis- pering in his ears what he is meant to do. Having these Saintly Angels as guides given to the Saintly King by God, he must begin the great work entrusted to him by God.

- 31 - Agios Methodios and Leon the Wise, in summary say that the Saintly King “shall conquer all the unfaithful”, etc. not only those who deny Christ or the Ottomans, the Pagans, the Rationalists, the Spiritualists, but also the non-believers of the doctrines of the , namely the heretics and schismatics, as well as those from the Orthodox, who lead a sinful life and com- mit illegalities, as the Saint Damascene declares on page 163 of His Dogmatics, on Orthodox Faith, the non-be- lievers of the Catholic and Apostolic Church traditions, those who participate in the Devils work will be regarded as Infidels. Saint Ioannis will travel to all the nations preaching the of the true Orthodox Faith holding in his arms the Cross, the Gospel and a sharp sword, followed by the faithful Greek people, and the leaders of all the races that have accepted the grace of God, and whom act with fear and terror towards the heavenly and wondrous grandeur of God. Instantly the winds will cease and as Saint Agathangelos declares: “Those who believe that they will be able to resist him will mourn greatly and they will suffer from great headaches”. Those who do not lis- ten to his preaching will be lost, as Ioannis the Theolo- gian says: (The Apocalypse of John) “And I saw the beast roaming the earth and the sea

- 32 - and the kings of the earth, and their troops gathered to- gether declaring war upon the one mounted on the white horse, and with his army ..”. This war is called “that great day of the Almighty,” the result of which will be the de- struction of these kings. “ So many will be killed, that the Lord will send carniv- orous vultures to eat their flesh, so that diseases do not occur due to the acrid smell of death and thus saving the faithful from death. In particular, in terms of warfare, Saint Andreas the so called Salos Ardent Admirer of Christ says: “And the Saintly King will place his right hand upon the sea and by doing so will calm the blonde nation”. As a result the Russians will not be able to bear, the rising of the Saintly King, the revival of the Byzantine Em- pire, and the disappearance of all their conquering plans. Then the Saintly King upon returning to the sea of Con- stantinople, where, because of the war the Russian fleets have gathered, and with his right hand making the sign of the Holy Cross, will destroy all the fleets and their crews instantly through divine power. The Russians upon this punishment and having got- ten over it, will bow their heads to the Saintly King, who will then submit them to the will of God. According to Leo the Wise, the Saintly King after this

- 33 - will immediately cleanse the Church of Christ from the Zionists, the loan-sharks, and the unworthy ministers of the priesthood, the archpriests, priests, , etc. and in their stead he will place the worthy who will thank God through their good deeds. According to the holy and respectable tradition, such will be the hatred of the Saintly King against these people, that, like another Prophet Elias, he will slaughter others with his own hands and others he will set on fire and that Holy Men kept alive by the divine providence of the Lord beyond recall have become visible not only once many on Mount Athos, who will ordain in their place the virtuous and worthy under the direction of the Holy Spirit. To be noted and heard by all Holy Fathers, Patriarchs, - priests, priests and deacons. All the above having taken place Saint Methodius tells us “that the Saintly King will bring peace to the Nations”. Peace shall be accomplished by the fall of Papism, Protestantism, Spiritualism, and any other form of impi- ety, through the restitution of the true faith of the few re- maining from the war. Subsequently we come to the complete annihilation of Asians from the face of the Earth by the Saintly King, the Russians first having defeated them, the Providers through the slaughtering, but who were unable to com-

- 34 - pletely exterminate them because of their great number and the civil war in which they were in, as mentioned before. Therefore, the Saintly King upon having been resur- rected and finding out that the Ottomans had not been fully beaten, but remained persistent infidels, because of this and wishing to take revenge for the blood of the mil- lions of Greek Orthodox Christians that were butchered and slaughtered, falls upon them in a severe manner, making them suffer and finishing them off with fire and water. Vividly and clearly Saint Andreas describes the loss of these Ottomans through the following: “And afterward he will turn his face to the East and humiliate the sons of Agar; the Lord is angry with them for their blasphemy, and because they bear the seed of Sodom's bile, and the bitterness of Gomorrah, and for their sake he maketh the King fall upon them and their children, to be consumed by fire, and those who are de- livered to his hands will be burnt violently” Saint Andreas is also mentioned by Saint Methodios in the following words: “And after that, He will persecute the Ishmaelites with a strong hand and a high arm, and in the end he will exterminate them”. Only the baptized will be saved, who are the one third. (They are Crypto-

- 35 - Christians.) St. Basil will restore, according to St. Andrew, the Or- thodox kingdom of Illyric, the Christian, that is, provinces of Ancient Illyria. After that he will campaign against , which will be utterly destroyed, according to Leo, because of the great slaughter, and then will be forced to offer allegiance to him, according to St. Andreas. We come to the most tragic and most terrible work of the Saintly King, which is included in the most expressive prophesies of the Holy Father Methodius: And many Nations with them like the sand of the sea will be moved, and great fear will be borne throughout the universe. Then the King shall cry before the Lord, and fire will come down from the Heavens and afflict them, and then great peace will prevail in the world. “These Nations are as the sand of the sea and are those referred to in the Holy Apocalypse in chapter 16 as follows: “And the sixth Angel emptied his flask into the great Euphrates river, and its water dried up, thus preparing the road for the Kings of the East”, that is, all the bar- barous and unfaithful nations of the Mid and Far east Asia, the Sinoi, the Japanese, the Indians, the Tartars, the Afghans, the Persians, the Calmusians, the Tibetans etc., who being incited by Satan will campaign against the

- 36 - holy King and his army and ... against God. This situation will lead the Saintly King to invoke the Lord's salvation, although nothing can be achieved with- out prayer and guidance from the angels, for through the usual measure of slaughtering he may not be able to de- stroy them instantaneously, due to their multitude and the Lord having heard this entreaty, sent divine fire against them erasing them in an instance from the face of the earth. Having established the Eastern Orthodox Church all over, the Saintly King will return bearing laurels, and in such great glory that no other Kings or Caesars had ever received, in any worldly throne and in any worldly king- dom. Having Constantinople as his throne, the queen of cities, he will reign with an iron rod and extreme justice in the name of Jesus Christ. Blessed are those who will survive through all of this because as soon as the Saintly King returns, all the trea- sures of the Earth will be revealed by God, as Saint Methodius says “as soon as he returns, all the treasures of the earth will be revealed”. Saint Andreas also says: “At this time all the gold, which is hidden in any manner or in any place, at the command of the Lord, will be revealed at the time of his reign”.

- 37 - At the same time, according to the providing Fathers, all the holy relics saved from destruction will be revealed through Divine Providence. Doucas believing that they were lost due to the , in his woeful hymn, says to the others: “Where are the bodies of the Apostles of my Lord, which had been planted long ago in the everlasting par- adise? Where is the purple robe? Where is the lance? Where is the sponge? Where is the cane?” According to the above Fathers and Leo the Saintly King, with these treasures, will immediately build and re- establish temples and deserted cities in the name of the Holy , the Holy Mother Mary and in honor of all His chosen Martyrs and all the Saints.. Constantinople shall be renovated anew, becoming brighter than before and will house the Lords glory. And the Christians, according to Leo the Wise: “The Earth shall provide great goods, as Saint Metho- dious says,” the Earth shall yield its fruit a hundredfold “and the Prophet Amos says,” Behold, the days come, sayeth the Lord, and the plowman shall come to the reaper, and the meadow walker to the sower, and all the mountains shall be seeping grape juice and flowing with goods”.

- 38 - Old and young shall arrive from everywhere to Con- stantinople to see and worship the wondrous and chosen by the Lord the Saintly King Ioannis. Each will receive from him what he desires (solutions to his questions) as Leo the Wise attests. The war is now abolished, as Saint Methodious testi- fies, “The weapons of war will become plows and sick- les”. Moreover, Saint Andreas says: “And due to the ending of the war they will transform their swords into sickles and their spears into agricultural tools, with which they will cultivate the Earth”. Likewise, in this glorious kingdom, the courts and the trials shall cease, as Saint Andreas says: “And trials will no longer exist, neither the wrongdoer nor the op- pressed, due to the fear caused (by the Saintly King), making the sons of the people prudent and humiliating the tycoons, and surrendering them to death “. Also, bands, guitar comedies and theaters shall be abolished according to Saint Andreas: And he (the Saintly King) declares “that there will no longer be (in his great state), a lyric, a guitarist, a songwriter, or any other such shameful worker. For all such shall be hated and be an- nihilated from the Lord’s city”. “Everyone shall receive the merit he deserves, as Saint Methodious says:” He will give to everyone according to

- 39 - their merit, in other words to the faithful he shall give them offices and wealth as said by Saint Andreas “And by spewing out those treasures he shall scatter them every- where and so the tycoons shall become wealthy and live as kings and the poor shall live as lords”. Describing the abundance of goods of this glorious Kingdom, Saint Andreas says, “And the years of the Saintly King will be similar to those of Noah, that is, not in regards to the wickedness, but in regards to their com- fort. The people under rule at that time shall be very wealthy and shall have never ending peace, feasting and drinking. They will wed and see their children wed as well. They will live on sea and on land, free of earthly cares. “Joy and elation will prevail and goods received from the land and the sea shall be plentiful”. According to Saint Andreas life during this long period shall be peaceful, blessed, holy, and pleasing to the God of Heaven and Earth. Then, according to Leo, many shall escape to enormous places and deserts and build monasteries and retreats to unite and praise the Holy Trinity.

- 40 - Then, as the sinners shall no longer be in existence on Earth, “a flock to a shepherd shall be born”. The Kingdom of the Saintly King, according to St. Method- ius, will last for 35 years. Blessed is the survivor who will be witness to the admirable King Ioannis, and the great and miraculous works done by Him! And thus shall be done. Amen.

The unknown Emperor Ioannis Vatatzis was made known all over the world by us.

The city is conquered by the Saintly Emperor I. Vatatzis.

- 41 - INTERPRETATION

The prophecy of Saint Methodious 311 AD "And the Blonde Nation shall prevail (Russians) in the City of the seven hills for five months and cabbages shall be planted which will be eaten by many as revenge for the “Saints”. During those months the Russians will be angry against the Asian Turks. Saint Methodious furthermore adds, "They will prevail in the East, they will strike against the Ishmaelites and drive them to Cologne." The point being that the Russians with their allies will appoint a committee of three persons called Providers (Protectors) who will govern the East and continue with the raging war against the Asians "in Asia, where there will be battles with thousands of dead, because of the desperation of the Asians. Those who are hit, will be beaten by the Providers. (Russians) They shall be expelled to Cologne, to the farthest parts of Asia. Then the question will arise as to who will govern

- 42 - Constantinople, so all nations will ally against Russia be- cause the Russians will want to . Saint Methodious says: "The Army Officials, the Kings, will have a dispute (disagreement, quarreling) amongst themselves as to who will rule." We do not know if Rus- sia shall have an ally. The description of the war is as fol- lows, according to the Holy Methodius: "After overcoming this dispute between Russia and the other Forces, the northern nations of Europe, having be- come agitated, will move with the greatest power and anger towards the East and will be divided into four Prin- ciples (Powers), into four large military bodies, the first to occupy Ephesus, the second to occupy Melagia, the third to occupy Akrokampos, that is Pergamon, and the fourth to occupy Bithynia. "After this happens, these Na- tions will gather all their naval forces and invade Eptalo- fos (Constantinople). At the same time, for the same reason, the nations that are south of Greece, will also be troubled, and the great Philip will rise with the eighteen states (with this large number the multitude of people of the 18 nations of NATO is being inferred), and will do the same. Having gathered, in general, all these Nations in Ep- talofos (Constantinople) they will make a great and ter- rible war on it and beyond it, on land and sea, with such

- 43 - intensity that has never before been seen in the whole world. One Nation will kill and cut the other into pieces. Such is the massacre that will fill with blood not only the cavities of Eptalofos, but also the whole of its surface. This human blood, creating a river due to its large quantity, will proceed to the sea in the length of eighteen stadia - which corresponds to two miles and two stages - and will make the sea blurry to the bottom. Then the chariots will stop and they will not advance because of the corpses, the blood and the lamenting of the troops. Then the bull shall help, and the dried hill shall mourn. This is what Saint Methodious says about this terrible 3rd World War, adding that with him "all the sinners will be destroyed." Proceeding further, Leo the Wise also says that "all the people, the faithful and the disbelievers, will be filled with sorrow and will suffer great disasters and trials during those terrible days, because of the seven wounds and the two reapings of the Apocalypse. Because of this, the faithful, striking their heads, will cast their faces on the earth and cry out loudly to the Lord (they will invoke him) to stop the misery and bring peace to the world. This prayer from the believers will be heard by the Lord, the Almighty (who rules everything) and He will send His angel in the form of a man to the orthodox,

- 44 - righteous, virtuous and pious IOANNIS, who comes from a royal Byzantine family and who has been sleep- ing in some underground small temple in Constantinople for countless years (countless, too many, so that cannot be calculated) with divine providence (caring), to bring about the solution. To the Eastern question that was decided upon cen- turies ago by God and the salvation of the whole world in Christ. He (the angel), when he comes to him (John), will im- mediately awaken him from the long sleep, and will anoint him king with the holy oil, saying to him first: "Arise, you who has been sleeping, and come out of your tomb, and Christ will enlighten you, for he invites you to turn the people into the chosen and holy ones." And for the second time he will say to him: "Go out, you who is hiding, do not hide, many are searching for you". After delivering to him stone slabs that tell him what he will do, upon receiving the king- dom, he will say to him: "Ioannis, gratify the God of Heaven and Earth, who has been offended by the workings of the unlawful and blas- phemous, make the people firmly believe in the true Or- thodox faith, of the Savior of the world, of our Lord Jesus Christ, have them establish good manners and place

- 45 - priests and high priests, the worthy, who expressed their pleasure towards our Holy Trinity God. After these things have been done, the terrible civil war will continue between the nations, Saint Methodi- ous and Leo the Wise clearly point out that "suddenly a bright divine light will fall from the sky and shine on Con- stantinople as a fiery column, the star which also ap- peared during the birth of Christ will appear in the middle of the city, over the church of Mother of Christ Mary on the third day (Wednesday) and in the third hour (3rd). At the same time, the voice of the preacher will be loudly heard, who will be invisible (the angel), will cry out in a loud voice three times: "Stand, stand, stand in fear, peace be with you, as long as you take revenge on the unruly and disobedient, run as fast as you can to the West and right of Eptalofos (Constantinople), and there you will find a capable man, a friend of God, the wise man, the just man, who comes from royal genes, wear- ing poor clothes, the merciful ( the almsgiver), the strict- looking and meek, standing between two pillars. After receiving him, you shall declare him king". After this extraordinary event, we see in Leo the Wise that this proclamation and manifestation of this glorious king will be made by the angel in three days and three nights, as the signs will remain in the sky.

- 46 - Also, after seeing these miraculous events, the peo- ples, who are being slaughtered in and out of Eftalofos (Constantinople) and after hearing the thunderous voice of the angel, will immediately stop the slaughtering. They will be very surprised, will come into great ecstasy and fill wth joy and fear, will pray to God with tears, to reveal to them as soon as possible he who has been proclaimed to be King ( by the angel) because they will not be in a position to find him immediately due to the slaughtering and due to their great surprise and emotions. In the same way, the Lord God will listen to their prayers and will reveal him to the world for the sake of the chosen, in the following way: After the three days in which the King will be announced by the angel, along with the above signs, the one imposed on the nations by the god, there will appear in the sky above Eptalofos (Constantinople) a solid cloud (a bright cloud brighter than the sun), from which the whole world will be en- lightened, which will have a periphery like a threshing field. At the same time, under that, a purple cross will be hung through divine will, and to our left a rainbow that our God has put there as an everlasting testament, and as it floats at the same time in the air according to the same credible sacred tradition, in this terrible and great

- 47 - instance, a great image of the Virgin Mary will appear, which the angels will praise at the same time praising our Lord the Savior. When this happens, the end of the rainbow that is out- side the Cross will rise with divine energy and turn to- wards the Sky and then fall on the two columns where Saintly King Ioannis will be. The people when they see this, and after glorifying God, will quickly run to the end of the rainbow, they will worship and receive the precious and elderly king with candles and palms to glorify God and pray to the great Zion (in Hagia Sophia). And the Angel of the Lord in great glory on this occa- sion, with a thunderous voice, will ask the people: "Do you find him likeable?" When they hear the above, they will be overcome with great fear, terror and ecstasy, and with tears in the eyes, they will lift up their hands in heaven and they will cry, "Yes, Lord, he is acceptable to us, for You have given Him (Ioannis) in Your great mercy". Then, with hymns and odes, they will lead Him to the great Zion, that is, to the Church of Hagia Sophia, to pray. Once they have raised him to a high place, they will pro- claim him with a great voice to be their King, their Lord and their Father.

- 48 - On this occasion, Saint Methodios completes this moving description of Leo the Wise. He tells us that a bright angel who will be visible and understood by the people's senses and having the Sacred Cross as a scepter, will put a crown of glory on the head of the King, who was just proclaimed, and that, after delivering to him (to the King) a sharp sword, he will say to him be- fore the people: "Show bravery and courage Ioannis and beat your enemies. " Leo the Wise furthermore says ( the Service being endless at that blessed era) that the Patriarch of the Or- thodox in this circumstance will address him, during which he will confess that the cause of such a great glory of the Saintly King is His great fear of God, his ultimate piety, his faith, his righteousness, virtue and unity of his soul. Saint Agathangelos expresses ( in his prophecy) in short with the following few words that are said in diffi- cult circumstances: "Yes, so blessed is the man who fears the Lord..." Also, our sacred tradition adds that during this formal proclamation of the Saintly King, all the ascetics and the virtuous, who are in the mountains and caves, will also attend to celebrate and to glorify in their presence the brilliant and glorious day of the glory of God and the greatness of the Orthodox people.

- 49 - However, it is about the resurrection of Ioannis. Saint Tarasios calls him specifically the saintly King for his great virtue, purity and holiness. For his bodily and psychic features, Leo the Wise says: "The nail of the first toe of the right foot has something hard on it, his speech is pleasant, his face is very beauti- ful, his form is plentiful. He is middle-aged, bald, he has the ability to foresee (he has the capacity with the divine grace to predict) and has a prophetic charisma and in- forms others. His eyes protrude, poor with a pure soul, and dressed in poor clothing. He will be meek (calm) and a philanthropist, very merciful, magnanimous and im- ressive, without a beard. His right hand will have two rows of purple garments and will have purple (deep red) crosses on his shoulders. " How will the Emperor rise? "Where there is God’s will, the laws of nature are defeated". Now we will see the works of the wondrous chosen saint and Great King, according to the oracles. When he takes the throne of St. Constantine, two an- gels will be given to him (to Ioannis) as Leo the Wise says, who will look like men dressed in white who will whisper in his ear what he is about to do. So, the Saintly King having been given these Holy Angels as guides by God, will begin the great work assigned to him by Him.

- 50 - Saint Methodios and Leo the Wise, in short, say that the Saintly King "will strike every non-believing genera- tion,"etc. Not only those who deny Christ or the Ottomans, the Pagans, the Rationalists, the Spiritualists, but also those who do not believe in the doctrines of the Orthodox Eastern Church, ie the heretics and schismatics, as well as by the Orthodox, those who live sinful lives and com- mit unlawful acts, as Saint Damascus states on page 163 of his Dogmatics, on Orthodox Faith. Anyone who does not believe in the tradition of the Catholic Apostolic Church or is connected with the Devil through illegal acts, is an infidel. St. Ioannis will go around to all nations preaching the Gospel of the Or- thodox True Faith by holding the Cross, the Gospel and a sharpened sword. He will be followed by faithful Greek people and with him will follow the Leaders of all the tribes, who have accepted the mercy of God, and will behave accordingly in fear and terror towards the won- derful and majestic Heavenly God. In the blink of an eye, the winds will disappear, as St. Agathagelos says: "Those who think they will resist him will mourn much and will hurt their head horribly. Who- ever does not hear his preaching will be destroyed, as Ioannis the Theologos says:

- 51 - "And I saw the beast (on earth and sea) and the kings of the earth and their troops assembled to make war with him who sat upon the white horse and his troops ..." This war is called "that great day of Pantokrator (the Almighty) ", which will result in the destruction of these kings". So many will be killed, that the Lord will send carniv- orous vultures to eat their flesh so that no sicknesses will arise from the stench, thus the faithful will not die. In particular, concerning the art of warfare Saint An- dreas, who has been named ardent supporter of Christ (Salos) says: "And the Holy King will put his right hand on the sea and will calm all the Blond races." Because of this, it is clear that the Russians will not tolerate the rise of the Saintly King, the resurrection of the and the disappearance of all their conquering plans. Then the Saintly King, after turning to the sea of Con- stantinople, where the Russian fleets will be, due to war, and after making the sign of the Holy Cross in the sea with his right hand , he will destroy in the blink of an eye (instantly) with divine power all the fleets with their crews.

- 52 - The Russians, having come to terms with this punish- ment, will bend their head to the Saintly King, who will then submit them to the will of God. After that, the Saintly King will purify, according to Leo the Wise, the Church of Christ immediately from the Simionists, loan-sharks and unworthy of the priesthood, archpriests, priests, deacons, etc. and will instead restore the worthy in their place which will please God with their good deeds. According to the sacred and respectable tra- dition, such will the hatred of the Saintly King be against such people, that he, like another Prophet Elias, will slaughter some by his own hand and others he shall de- liver to the fire, and those saints, who have been saved by Divine Providence for many years, they have become visible not once, by many on Mount Athos, will ordain instead of them the virtuous and worthy, according to the holy word of the Holy Spirit, Hear these Holy Patriarchs, Archpriests, priests and deacons. The above having occurred, Saint Methodious tells us that "the Saintly King will bring peace to the Nations". Peace will be accomplished by the fall of Papism, Protes- tantism, Spiritualism and any disrespect, by returning to the true faith of the few remaining from the war.

- 53 - Then we turn towards the complete annihilation of the Asians from the face of the earth by the Saintly King, which were first defeated by the Russians, the Providers (Protectors) by the slaughtering. But they could not com- pletely eliminate them because of their multitude and the civil war, as has been said. After the rise of the Saintly King he finds the Ottomans not having been completely defeated, but insisting on their unfaithfulness. Because of this and taking revenge for the blood of millions of slaughtered and slain Orthodox Christians, he will fall upon them harshly and will finish them off with fire and iron. Very vividly and clearly Saint Andreas describes the destruction of these Ottomans with the following words: "And after that he will turn his face towards the East and humiliate the sons of Agar." For the Lord will be angry with them for their blas- phemy. We come to the most tragic and most terrible of the works of the Saintly King. It is included in the most expressive passage in the oracle the Holy Father Method- ius: "And many nations along with them, like the sand of the sea, and fear will be caused in the Universe.

- 54 - Then the King will cry in the presence of the Lord, and fire will come down from Heaven and will burn them completely. Then great peace shall prevail throughout the world. These nations, that will be like the sand of the sea, are those that the Holy Apocalypse talks about in Chapter 16 as follows: "And the sixth angel emptied his flask into the great river Euphrates, and the water dried out in order to prepare the way of the Kings of the East, which means all the barbaric and unfaithful nations of the Mid- dle and Far East, namely the Sinoes, the Japanese, the In- dians, the Tartars, the Afghan Persians, the Calmous, the Tibetans, etc. who, being urged on by Satan, will march against the Saintly King and his army with God’s pres- ence. This event will, in fact, lead the Saintly King to invoke the Lord, although he will do nothing without prayer and without the guidance of the Angels, because by the tac- tical measure, that is, by the slaughter, he will not be able to annihilate them quickly because of their multitude, and the Almighty Lord will respond to his appeal, by sending against them a divine fire from the heavens.

- 55 - Instantly they will be made to disappear from the face of the Earth. So when the Holy King solidifies the Eastern Ortho- dox Church in all places, he will come back bearing lau- rels and great fame, which up until now none of the Kings or Caesars have received throughout the world. Having his throne in Constantinople the Queen of the Cities, he will reign with an iron rod and extreme justice in the name of Jesus Christ. Those who shall survive after these events will be happy, because as soon as the Saintly King returns, all the treasures of the Earth will be revealed by God, as Saint Methodious says: "once he re- turns, all the treasures of the earth will be revealed." Saint Andreas also says: "In those times, any gold that is hidden in any place, by the command of God, will be revealed in His Kingdom." At the same time, according to the Providing Fathers, all the Holy Relics saved from destruction will be re- vealed through Divine Providence, for which Doukas Michael, thinking that they were lost due to the conquest of Constantinople, in his woeful hymn chants to the oth- ers: "Where are the bodies of My Lord's Apostles, which have long been planted in the ever-flourishing paradise? Where is the purple robe?

- 56 - Where is the spear? Where is the sponge? Where is the cane? "With these treasures the Saintly King will im- mediately, according to the above Fathers and Leo, build and re-establish temples and cities that have been de- serted to the glory of the Holy Trinitarian God, the Holy Mother Mary and in honor of his chosen Martyrs and Saints. Constantinople will be restored anew, becoming brighter than before and will house the Lord’s glory. "The earth will give great goods," as Saint Methodious says: "the earth will yield its fruit a hundredfold." Young and old will arrive from everywhere to Constantinople, to see and worship the wonderful and chosen one by the Lord, the Saintly King Ioannis. And everyone will receive from Him what they desire, that is, the answers to their questions, as witnessed by Leo the Wise. The war is now abolished, as Saint Methodios says: "Weapons will become ploughs and sickles." Also, Saint Andreas says: "And since there will be no war, they will cut and turn their swords into sickles and the javelins into agricultural tools with which they will cultivate the earth." Likewise, in this glorious reign, the courts and trials will cease, as Saint Andreas says:

- 57 - "And there will no longer be trials, neither will there be the one who wrongs nor the one who is wronged, be- cause, due to the fear caused by the Saintly King who shall make their children behave, and will humiliate those who break the law. Moreover dances, songs ac- companied by the guitar, feasts and theaters will be abol- ished, as Saint Andreas says: Everybody will receive the merit that befits him, as Saint Methodios says: "He will give to everyone according to their worth, that is to say, to the believers offices and riches, as Saint An- dreas says.” Thus describing the abundance of goods of that bril- liant Kingdom, Saint Andreas says: "And the years of the Saintly King will be as the one’s of Noah, but not in terms of their wicked deeds, but concerning their comfort. At the time of his rule, the people will be very wealthy and have infinite peace. They will eat and drink, they will wed and wed their children, as well. They will also live on sea and on land free from earthly cares. And he says: "Joy and elation will prevail, and they will derive rich goods from the earth and from the sea." Life, according to St. Andrew, will be serene, very pious, holy, and will bring satisfaction to the God in Heaven and on Earth. Then, according to Leo, many will flee to the mountains and the deserts, and after building

- 58 - monasteries and retreats, they will become monks and glorify the Trinitarian God. After the sinners will have dis- appeared from the earth, the Kingdom of the Saintly King, according to Saint Methodious, will last for 35 years. Joyful will be he who survives and will see this glo- rious King Ioannis, who will be resurrected, and the great and wonderful works which he will carry out.

The pious Ioannis Vatatzis is imposed by God as King of all the Universe.

- 59 - Prophecy of The Holy Fathers of our church about Constantinople

Russia first descends to Constantinople, which occu- pies the whole of , is destroyed and Sofia is set aflame. The Bulgarian army, pursued by the Rus- sians retreats to the Greek lands and is disarmed. Ger- many attacks Russia, and Italy also sends troops to Albania and attacks the Russians as well. The front is moved to the West, to Southeastern Eu- rope, the Baltic Sea, Ukraine, to the and around the borders of Constantinople. Russia gathers a great army to support the strait.

- 60 - Prophecy of Leo the Wise Emperor of the Byzantium 886-912 AD About the legendary poor and chosen King residing in the first end of the Byzantium. (Constantinople)

Ὁ ἀληθινός καὶ μέγας Βασιλεύς, ὅς κατοικεῖ ἐν τῷ ἄκρῳ τόπῳ του Βυζαντίου. - 65 - INTERPRETATION OF The Prophecy of Leo the Wise, Emperor of Byzantium 886-912 AD

About the legendary, glorious, poor and chosen king (residing in the first end of the Byzantium) of Con- stantinople. The true and great King, who dwells in the Place, whom the people have chased from his home, shall be revealed by the heavenly rainbow, and by the signs of Christ. He will be seen and indoctrinated by the Angel that will be visible. He will whisper in the ear of he who sleeps to rise: "Rise from the tomb and you shall be touched by Christ. He will call you the chosen people.” Secondly, he will say to him: "You who are hiding, show yourself, do not be hidden. Many ask for you. And thirdly he will give to him stone slabs on which it is en- graved that the divine people have been avenged, have created good principles and the worthy, who have thanked the God of Heaven and Earth. This King also has Signs: The nail of the first toe of his right foot has a cal- lous, his speech is pleasant, his appearance is pre- sentable, his form is effeminate, very handsome. He is of middle age, bald, well-learned, he has a knowledge of music, he is quick in his predictions able to comprehend

- 66 - and transmit prophesies. He has protruding eyes. He is poor, of clean soul and dressed poorly because his luxurious clothes are superfluous. He will be affable and a philanthropist, eager to convey something, gener- ous, awesome, without a beard, and on his shoulder blades he will have red crosses. He is the one whom God shall reveal, He shall reveal him, and shall anoint Him with holy oil at the end of days. He is the one who has been revealed so the star will appear on Wednesday, in the middle of Con- stantinople in the market, and on the 3rd hour at the Theandric Temple of the Holy Mother of Christ. The star that will appear does not belong to the planets, but is the one that appeared during the birth of Christ our Saviour. And a fully visible herald for three days and nights will call upon and reveal him who gives hope and at the same time hearing the thunderous voice of his preach- ing, the people at the same time joyful and fearful will let out cries, ignoring the one who gives hope. Crying out “lord take pity on us”, they will see him, they will moan and shed tears for the grief that has fallen upon them, shall invoke the Lord, who will accept their invo- cation.

- 67 - With a favorable gaze he will turn to those who dwell the earth, and the chosen one (of God) will become known amongst them. A cloudy atmosphere will be visible in the sky, brighter than the sun, which will have the size of a threshing field and a purple cross shall be hung. To the left of the Purple Cross a large rainbow will be hung, like the one God placed as an eternal testament which will be ignored by all. The southern part of the rainbow will detach and will move towards the stairway to Heaven. All the area will be filled up until the end of the scene and shall stand upon the hut of the true King. Then when the people, after having seen him, shall praise the Lord of Heaven and Earth Himself and shall quickly rush towards the edge of the rainbow. Taking the precious and elderly King with candles and palms, they will bring him to the Great Zion, Hagia Sophia. The herald with the thunderous voice, who cannot be seen from the sky, will say to the people: "Do you like him?" Then they will all be overcome by fear, terror and ecstasy and in tears, having raised their arms towards the sky will say: “Yes, Lord. Because you have given him to us, he is likeable to us.”

- 68 - After worshiping him, they will bring him with hymns to the great Zion (Hagia Sophia) to pray. Then, after hav- ing brought him to a high place, they will declare him king. Then two angels like eunuchs who wear white will guide him and tell him what he is about to do. Those, wanting to put their hands on him and, with- out seeing the signs, will speak before them, the glorious and the famous. Many will then flee to far away to places of the world, and they will all glorify God and will calm down.

LEO THE WISE And this prophecy predicts the conquest of the city by the blond gender that shall destroy the Turkish State and shall annihilate the oppressors and tyrants of the Chris- tians of many centuries, but the city shall also be de- stroyed because of the battle which will take place within it: "Then cometh the fall and the loss of your oppressors, and of the unrighteous. But the fiery and blonde nation shall burn and annihilate the State. He even speaks of the future "Saintly King", and about the destruction after which the city will be renovated and people shall come to live there.

- 75 - Oracles, or in other words, prophecies of a man, told to king Manuel Paleologos about the fall of Constantinople and how the city was freed again, and the coming of the end of the world. 1425 AD

INTERPRETATION King Manuel Palaeologοs intended, around the sev- enth century, to examine if more time was to be added, or if the world would come to an end. Upon order of the King all the wise men and teachers of the city gathered, about thirty in his palace, and I writing these things, was standing close to the King, and the King began to ask them, and some of these wise teachers said to the King "that if the people are good, then God would add more and more time, and if people were bad time would be taken away from them, and the end of the world would come quickly. Others told him that until the completion of seven thousand years the world will remain as it is, and then the and will come. Near the King there sat an elderly Father, the King’s spiritual confessor, holy and virtuous about ninety years old, very prudent, wise and a scholar and full of virtue, and who listened to the words of these sage men and

- 76 - teachers but said nothing, just sat there, had his hand closed and supporting his right cheek. Then King Manuel turned and said to him, “Why is your holiness saying nothing about the question that I ask?” and he spoke secretly and said to the King, “it is not time now for me to say anything but at some other time we shall speak alone”. King Manuel having heard these words, got up from his throne and took the Elderly Holy man and entered the royal treasury, and I Ioannis, having heard and written down this account, was teacher to King Manuel’s son, the new King, King Ioannis and followed them, having the courage to do so, as his son’s teacher. Then the holy father said the following to the King, "Learn my Holy Lord that from now till fifteen years have passed, on the ninth of March, on Wednesday, on the ninth hour of the day, and if this sign should come as I say, in these seven centuries the world will not come to an end, and if this sign occurs, God will add another thou- sand years, and I say this and verify it, and the sign must happen, and the sign shall be a Sword, and I say this to you, that an ecumenical will take place, and we and yourself shall be in great error, O King? And this synod will be the reason why Ishmael the Turkish race will be- come annoyed and be insulted, and a pestilence (death, sickness) will occur for three years, and if the plague

- 77 - should not occur, Ishmael the Turk will build a Tower in the form of a wall near Constantinople because Ishmael has heard that the Christians are willing to come against him to fight him. And when King Constantine the Palaiol- ogos agrees to this, then Constantinople will be besieged by the Ismailite Turks, and many islands and countries will want to worship Ishmael. And since Constantinople will be captured by the Turks, for, three hundred and ninety, almost four hundred years, then it is up to the Christians to build a great fleet, priests and monks, and all sorts of people, all willing and unwilling, those wanting and not wanting, by divine en- couragement and symbols will enter and they will come to Constantinople, only those whom God wishes to go, the chosen will be good men, and the Lord will keep them from harm, such will be the fleet, that is, the warships, the fleet captains and the commanders and troops of the fleet will be seventy (70) thousand, and each of these commanders, shall command ten thousand men. Seaworthy and well equipped, all these Christian fleets will set sail for Constantinople, in a place called Kon- doskali. And when Ishmael the Turk sees the fleets gath- ering there, he will then abandon the city and flee to Eastern Asia in order to be saved. The commanders of the Christian army will come to a dispute as to who will gov- ern the City, who will conquer it, and during the brawl,

- 78 - they will draw swords, and begin stabbing each other, Christian against Christian". And, so many will be the slaughtered and such a mas- sacre of men will have occurred that all the pits and all the land of the City will be filled with blood, and the blood will flow like a river, so that a three-year-old calf will drown in this blood (the same is said by Saint Cosmas the Aitolos (from the region of Aitolia) in the year 1777 in these ten chapters). "And the blood will flow into the sea in eighteen stadιums" (one stadium equals 600 feet) and this conges- tion, war and slaughter will be greatly intensified, never be- fore has such a war been waged in the world and after such disaster having taken place, all sinners shall be cut down and no-one shall be saved. Then an angel will come down from the Heavens by order of God and will have a scepter in his hand (a sign of royalty) and the sword of the Saintly King Constantine, and will then crown the peaceful King, who also wants to be in the war, and who wants the angel to give him the scepter and the sword, and will call him the merciful, and will tell him, to be brave and beat the enemies of Jesus Christ, and his holy disciples, and instantly the war will cease. Then three angels will lift the King, and take him to the Church of Hagia Sophia, where they will crown him King. All the remaining men of war who are the righteous, will not want the war to end until all the sinners will have been killed.

- 79 - There, to the New Zion, Hagia Sophia they will go, crowds of people, will come to worship this virtuous and good King, the king of all. And when he sees them com- ing from afar, he will stand up and receive them joyfully and embrace them with love and compassion, and they will ask him where he comes from and he will tell them. Then to those who come to see him and worship him, the King will want to give them a lot of money, as a free donation, and they shall ask him what is this money for, and he will tell them that "this and more to come will be given to you by me, and whoever will come to the City with me, I shall give him house and field and whatever he wants, I will be one of your brothers, and we are all broth- ers, and the Father of all of us is Christ". In seven years people will have crowded into the city, and all the islands will be deserted so that there will be no people there. And during these seven years the City will be filled with people, Christians with their wives and their children. Then the King will say to them, "Fathers and brethren, it is good to go and fight against our enemies, in order to raise the Holy Cross, and avenge the blood of our peo- ple." The Millions of Orthodox Christians who have been slain and slaughtered. Then all of them with one voice tell him "your will shall be granted Lord" and "that God's voice has spoken through your mouth, that your command shall be done."

- 80 - Then the King will rise, and so will the people with him, and they will go against the Ishmaelites, then the written words will come true that “ One will pursue a thousand and two will move myriads” and will chase them to the beautiful Pillars that King Alexander the Macedonian shut down, persecuting them along the way. "Therefore, the King will then say that Ishmaelites will no longer fight anymore" and not only the Turks, but also Saracens, Scythians, and every other unfaithful nation not believing in Christ. Then the King will return to the City, and upon his re- turn all the treasures of the earth shall be opened, and where there is gold and silver, smoke will come out of the earth, and the virtuous and merciful King says, "come and see what this smoke is and according to the command- ment of the king they shall go down, and shall find trea- sures of gold and silver, and shall offer all the gold to all the pious people, and afterward they shall find even bet- ter things, and they shall also give them to the pious peo- ple. Such shall be the amount of treasure, that wherever they throw away part of it, because of its disuse, joy and delight will fall upon everyone and there will be no unjust or wronged to be found, for all the sinners and the un- righteous shall have been exterminated from the face of the earth and then honey and milk will flow from the land.

- 81 - Within a matter of three years the King will pursue the disbelieving nations, and then he will enter the Queen of all Cities "where he will rest joyfully and rejoice for thirty- five years and then he and his son will reign another thirty years in great joy and elation and after that another King will come to reign, who will show great brutality and mis- anthropy during his reign. Then Enoch and Elijah, and John the Evangelist, will come, preaching to all Christians, that a seducer will come to seduce them and so watch out and be aware so as not to be seduced, as the Holy Gospel speaks of and reveals it to us; the so-called An- tichrist will come (John II and John 1, Chapter A).

- 82 - The PROPHECY Saint Anonymous 1053 AD The Prophecy can be found on Mount Athos, at the Monastery of Koutloumousiou.

In five and five and fifty years the end of sorrows will come, and on the seventh there will be no sufferer, no one in exile, returning into the arms of the rejoicing Mother (The Church). That is how it is and how it shall be. Amen. Amen. Amen. I am A and Z. The First One and the Last One. Finally, there is only one flock and one shepherd coming from the true Orthodox faith. This will happen. Amen. Amen. Amen.

Then they will come together at the same place one against the other in confrontation clashing with rage, one shall cut the limbs of the other, like butchering sheep and the three Kings of the army will be killed and all the people and their blood will be shed on the ground like a flood coming from the rain and everything shall be cov- ered in blood. Then the sea will be filled and mixed with their blood in twelve places and all the woman shall be- come widows. Seven women will be looking for a man whom they won’t be able to find. - 86 - The Prophecies of Saint Tarasios The Prophecies of Saint Tarasios He ascended to the Patriarchal throne in 784 AD, con- vened the 5th Ecumenical Synod for the restoration of the Holy in 787 AD. He died in 806 AD. He wrote a prophecy about the fall of the Byzantium (1453). It refers to , the ruler of the Turks who will conquer the city of the Byzantium. He adds that, over the centuries, Turkey will be dissolved and Constantino- ple will be regained. Useful information: rebirth of the Saintly Emperor, whose name begins with an “I” and ends with an “S” (IOANNIS). In the last days, Muhammad will move to the court of the Byzantine, and set up his kingdom there. Behold, I feel sleepy, and I am to go to bed, to go to sleep, but there is a full moon, so you can remain awake. All the above having taken place, there is a civil war, and all the unfaithful people are lost. And then the Saintly King shall rise, whose name starts with an I and ends with an S in the beginning of his name, he being the one who will save us. And he will save his sheep, preaching to them the A: and Z: these letters are found in his name; and he shall set up his kingdom in one night and one day in a quar- ter of an hour.

- 87 - The Prophecy of Saint Tarasios 806 AD

What concerns me now is the issue of the up- coming Third World War, perhaps nuclear detonation. What other foolishness is there greater than the one that possesses them, since they know of the destruction? Only one mistake, even an ac- cident, is capable of poisoning and destroying every- thing, and yet they do not retreat, despite the general outcry of innocent people. Nuclear warfare, conventional weapons, no matter how improved, could not cause such general despair and global danger. But now they can destroy eight times over the whole planet in just a few minutes, the prediction of the prophet who foresaw this was seen so many centuries ago that the current situation is now being verified. Our highlight being the Third World War, for unheard of suf- ferings will be witnessed in our region as mentioned in the prophecies.

- 88 - In the first prophecy, he spoke of a terrible war, "a sav- age civil war," in the second prophecy a terrible manslaughter for two days, the blood reaching the (an inlet of the Bosphorous that divides the city of Constantinople and forms a natural harbor) ac- cording to the following prophesies, and therefore there is agreement and verification. From the beginning of time to this day, never has such a devastating war ever occurred. Everything that has been foretold by the prophecies will occur.

All prophetic books which are sold write the name "Ioannis". But who is this "Ioannis"? No one tells us. I am the ONLY AND SOLE author who has written about Ioannis Vatatzis!

Manuscript of the Holy Monastery Kostamonitou

This Prophecy was written by sages and saints on the cover of the tomb of Constantine the Great, the first Christian king, from 339 when Constantine the Great died until 1440. It was interpreted 13 years before the Fall of Constantinople.

- 93 - INTERPRETATION 1440 A.D Prophecies on the tomb of Constantine the Great

When the son of Constantine the Great, Constantius became King, he brought his father’s relics from Nicomedea with great royal honor to Constantinople, and buried him with a great procession in the sanctuary of the Holy Apostles, and at the top of the tomb of Con- stantine the Great the first Christian king, some wise men, holy men and foreseers of the time, wrote the fol- lowing letters on his on his tomb. These include prophecies of the Turks reign and of their coming end as explained by the wise Patriarch Genadios, cosmic episcopate and royal judge, about the reign of Ioannis Palaiologos and the congress in . "They have come to us through the passage of time the friction of human hands. Τ. π. τ. τ. ιδ. τ. η,β.σ,λ τ. During the first of Indictus, the reign of Ishmael, the so-called Muhammad, will defeat the generation of Palaiologists, will conquer Eptalofos, will reign internally, and will rule many nations, and the islands will be de- serted up to the Black Sea.

- 94 - On the 8th of Indictus he will conquer and will rule it. During the 9th of Indictus he will cam- paign to the northern lands. During the 10th of Indictus he will return victorious after many years to the Dalmatians waging a great war resulting in his partial defeat. The crowds and the races accompanied by the Westerners at sea and on land will wage a war and the Ismail (Turks) will be defeated. The Blonde (Russians), along with the castigators, will dom- inate on Ismail (Turkey) and Eptalofos will receive all the privileges. Then the Russians will cause a fierce civil war until the fifth hour. And the voice shall be heard: "Stand, stand in fear, and run quickly to the places on the right." You will find a brave, wonderful and robust man. He will be your Commander, for he is my friend, and when you find him you will have fulfilled my will.

Greece will not take part in the 3rd World War in the be- ginning, but its army will be situated at the border as a spectator for three days and three nights, during which a hard battle will be taking place.

- 95 - THEODOROS LASKARIS II (1254 - 1258 AD)

Ioannis the 3rd was suc- ceeded to the throne by his son Theodore the 2nd Doukas Laskaris, a scholar with a great ed- ucation, a philosopher, a theolo- gian, a writer, a poet and an excellent scholar of the ancient who preferred it from the ecclesiastical language of his time and loved it more than his breath, as he writes himself. The education of Theodore II was immense. He stud- ied ancient Greek literature, theology, mainly philosophy, music, mathematics, physics, geometry, astronomy. Thus he is rightly ranked among the few wise emper- ors of the Byzantium who loved and supported the let- ters and the arts. From great teachers, he was taught the ancient Greek letters and was initiated into the philosophy of Plato and Aristotle. His admiration of ancient Greece inspired his warm love for it.

- 96 - Theodore’s adoration for everything Greek clearly ap- pears in his philosophical and literary reminiscences. Theodore II turned the courtyard of Nice into a center of humanistic letters similar to that of ancient . This emperor was not only an excellent scholar, but also a man of action, a capable political and military leader and a skilled diplomat. Theodore II Laskaris died at the end of August 1258 at the age of 37.

Saint Paisios the Agiorite repeatedly said: "Ioannis Vatatzis is the one who will lead the Greek Nation".

- 97 - IOANNIS LASKARIS IV (1258-1261 AD) Theodore Laskari II was succeeded by his only son Ioannis Laskaris IV, who was then eight years old. Due to the fact that he was a minor, his father appointed two commis- sioners - regents, the regent Georgios Mouzalonas and Patriarch Arsenios. George Mouzalona, a close friend of Theodore II, re- alizing that he was not liked by the aristocracy, asked the Senate to elect another more capable regent but the aris- tocrats did not accept his request. But nine days later, when the memorial service of Theodore II in Magnesia was being carried out, people of the aristocracy (Frank ) entered the church and slaughtered Mouzalona and his brothers. After a few days, the assembly of the strong ones as- signed the regency to Michael Palaeologos, to whom they also conferred the title of despot. Michael Palaiolo- gos was not content with the titles. He wanted to seize the throne at any cost. With great effort he persuaded Patriarch Arsenios, who remained loyal to the Laskarea and to the legitimacy of crowning him as co-em- peror with young Ioannis, promising to respect the rights of the minor king on the throne.

- 98 - Indeed, on 1 January 1259, Michael Palaiologos was crowned emperor in Nice with the young IOANNIS. But after the reoccupation of Constantinople (25 July 1261), Michael VII pre-empted Ioannis IV, blinded him and imprisoned him in a fortress in the Marmara Sea, at the Dacibiza fortress where the unfortunate Ioannis, the last emperor of the most humble, serious and populous dynasty of the Byzantium, the Lascara dynasty, will spend the rest of his life blind until his death in 1305. Michael Palaiologos had committed a monstrous act of inhumanity to the orphaned, both by mother and fa- ther Ioannis. He managed to send away both unmarried daughters of Theodoros Laskaris II, sisters of John, Theodora and Irene. The first, he gave in marriage to a Latin from the Peloponnese and the latter to a Count from Genoa. Urging both of them to move away from Con- stantinople thus leaving the field free. In 1290 Emperor Andronikos II's son and heir to Michael VII visited Ioan- nis IV in jail to ask for forgiveness for his father's crime and to beg him for the recognition of the imperial title. (See, Curriculum Vitae of the Byzantine Empire).

- 99 - THE PROPHECY OF SAINT AGATHAGGELOS 1279 AD The confessor, Saint Agathaggelos, at the age of seventy-nine (79) , in the year 1279, saw a terrible apparition of about what was go- ing to happen in the future. Greece will be become a theater of rob- beries and disasters by the Turks. The gov- ernment officials and the people will find themselves in distress. The enemy will advance as far as the sixth , but then the eastern people will come to the aid of the Greeks, whom getting over the turmoil of the invasion, will come out with the full force of their army and will drive out the Turks not only from Greece but from all over Europe. The Turks will find shelter only in Mecca (the Red Apple-tree). And Constantinople will become once again the of Hellenism.

- 100 - MUHAMMAD II AND PATRIARCH GENNADIUS (The first Patriarch after the fall of Constantinople from 1454 to 1459 AD)

Upon conquering the City, Muhammad asked all the wise men of that time to explain to him what he saw every night in his sleep. He tells them, "Every night I see a palm with five fingers above Hagia Sophia. What does this symbol- ize?" No one could give an explanation. Patriarch Gennadios, the first patri- arch after the fall of the city, stands up and tells him: "Your Highness even if five good Christians were in the city, the city you would not have taken over." Indeed, great sin had befallen on the Byzantium. Muhammad asks Patriarch Gennadius again: "Tell me now, how long will we remain here?" And Patriarch Gen- nadius answers : "5-5-50." that is, 555 years. Gennadius was patriarch from 1454 to 1459. We mention that Gennadius the scholar resigned from the throne for health reasons and under the burden of prob- lems.

- 101 - He retired to the Monastery of Vatopedi on Mount Athos and then to the Monastery of Timios Prodromos in . The patriarch died in 1468. His enthronement was on January 4, 1454

The tomb of Gennadios Scholarios, the first Patriarch after the Fall, is located at the Monastery of Timios Pro- dromos in Serres.

- 103 - PROPHECIES OF SAINT COSMAS OF AETOLIA 1714 - 1779 AD

Saint Cosmas the Aetolus makes the same prophesies. 1. The Turks will leave, but they will come back again and they will reach the Hexam- ilia. In the end, they will be driven to the Red Milia (Red Apple-tree). One-third of the Turks will be killed, the other third will be baptized and only 1/3 will go to the Red Milia (Red Apple- tree). " 2. The Turks will learn the secret 3 days earlier than the Christians. "(The Albanian has the prophecy as follows:" The Turks will realise this three days earlier than the Christians "). 3. "After the general war the wolf will live with the lamb". 4. "There will be blood spilled in the City, in which a three year old heifer will float". 5. "Whoever survives the general war, will eat with a sil- ver spoon ..." 6. "So much will occur that mothers will give premature birth out of fear". 7. "They will impose a great and unbearable tax on you, but it will not come to pass."

- 104 - 8. "They will tax chickens and windows". 9. "They will want to enlist you as soldiers, but they won’t succeed." 10. "The will become the worst and the most dis- honest of all." 11. "Condemn the Pope for he will be the cause of the misfortunes." 12. "Pray for it to be day and not night, summer and not winter". 13. "Much will happen. The cities will become like shacks." 14. "There will be a time when Christians will rise against each other." 15. "The army will not reach the City, on their way there word will reach them saying that what they have de- sired has arrived." 16. The Blonde Race will free the City. 17. The evil will last either three days or three months or three years.

10.000.000 New Testaments were sold in Turkey.

* This one-third of the population of Turkey (25 million) being baptized are Greek Cryptochristians, janissaries, coming from the Byzantium. In the year1453, when the city was lost, 50,000 Greek men and women were sold in the slave market.

- 105 - FATHER EPHRAIM FROM ARIZONA, U.S.A. Father Ephraim the Athonite, Abbot of the Monastery of Philotheos of Mount Athos, said in his concerning St. Ioannis Vatatzis that he would be the leader of the Christians. He says the following: "A few years ago, on Mount Athos there was a high priest named Ierotheos from Asia Minor. The Ecumenical Pa- triarchate placed him on Mount Athos to ordain and per- form services. He was a Holy priest of God by whom I had the priv- ilege to be ordained He was a blessed man of God. Let me tell you: The vigil that we did for 15 hours, although being an eighty- year-old man he did not sit at all on the bench. From the throne he would come down to the pew, and all the while standing. The Holy Archpriest told us that he had seen the sleeping Ioannis Vatatzis, who will be resur- rected. He saw him, for the lips of an Archpriest never lie. He told us the truth and we asked him as he was with us in the chapel.

- 106 - He used to tell us and we heard it with our own ears. This sleeping king exists and he will be resurrected, and we ask him when “When will the Third World War occur Father?” He also told us that his right hand is on the sword, which is in its sheath and when the sword comes out of the sheath that is, when the 3rd World War will begin. And we out of curiosity asked him “Your Grace how far away is the sword from the sheath?” “Only a few centimeters remain for it to come out”. Father Ephraim in his sermons always refers to the Emperor Ioannis Vatatzis. Father Ephraim, who lives in Arizona, U.S.A, is the founder of many monasteries in America.

Recently in an ASEP examination, the question was asked who is the Marble King? The correct answer was: Saint Ioannis Vatatzis.

- 107 - The Parisian Code Suppl. Grec 467 Φ 191β-193β

Legend says that the sad King Constantinos Palaiolo- gos walked along with lords on the walls of the Queen of cities and looked upon the gates of Saint Romanos. Outside the Temple of the Holy Mary, the King is said to have seen a queen coming from outside with many and entering the Temple. Puzzled the tragic Emperor himself enters so as to see who the Queen is. The Queen herself opens the beautiful gate and enters and sits on the holy throne, appearing to be a saddened figure. And she said to the king, "Since they delivered this miserable City many times have I saved it from divine rage. But even now I have begged the Son and the Father, but it has been decided that you will surrender to the hands of the aliens, for the sins of the people have kin- dled the anger of God. So, leave the crown of the King- dom here for me to guard, until God is willing to bring us someone else, and go and die because God has ordered so"

- 109 - Saint Anastasios 1764 AD At the place where the icon of the Mother Mary was supposed to be, there was no icon, but a royal throne, where the Holy Virgin Mary herself was seated, to whom the City is dedicated to, while around there was a crowd of angels and . To the left of the throne, a little further below, there was another throne where an old man sat (I do not know if he slept or if he was awake) on his head he had a crown and in his hands he held a closed , which was magnificently decorated. Circularly inside the tem- ple there were other thrones. I asked Anastasios: "They then approached the Beautiful Gate, where the Lord stood. The old man worshiped with devotion, and the Lord gave to him the Holy . Then he took the Bible from Chrysostomos’ hands and delivered it to his hands, and also the crown from the hands of Mitrofanis and put it on his head. About the mysterious person of the crowned elderly man, the manuscript amongst others mentions: "He noted that this elderly man was the one to reign, about whom Saint Tarasios says: The king will rise, who at the beginning of his name has an "I" and at the end an "S" in other words "Ioannis".

- 110 - Professor Konstantinos Amantos The professor of Byzantine history at the University of Athens, Konstantinos Amantos (1874-1960), mentions about Ioannis Vatatzis: "He was celebrated both alive and after death as perhaps no other emperor of the Byzan- tium." Also when the House of Parliament asked this great Byzantinologist to suggest which portrait of a Byzantine Emperor ought to be posted in the House, he proposed St. Ioannis Doukas Vatatzis the Merciful, who should be be their model and who should always enlighten them.

- 111 - SAINT IOANNIS DOUKAS VATATZIS III THE MERCIFUL ONE In 1222 at the age of 47, the first em- peror of , Theodoros Laskaris died, and in the same year the emperor Ioannis Doukas Vatatzis III was crowned emperor, third in the series of the eight emperors throughout the Byzantine Empire named Ioannis. Ioannis Doukas Vatatzis was born in Didymoteicho in 1193. His father was the Duke of the Thracians and Commander of the east, Vasilios Doukas Vatatzis and his mother Angelina was the daughter of Isaakios, son of Constantine , and Theodora Komneni, daughter of Alexios Komninos I. Ioannis Vatatzis the merciful married twice. His first wife was Irene Laskari. Daughter of the Emperor of Nicaea, Theodoros Laskaris. Irene, died in 1241. His second wife was Anna-Kostantia. Daughter of the Emperor Frederick of Germany. Ioannis Vatatzis fathered a child (Theodoros) with his first wife, Irene Laskaris. He did not have any other chil- dren.

- 112 - The Second Wife of Ioannis Vatatzis As far as Anna-Kostantia (Konstanz) is concerned, after Vatatzis' death she ended up in a Spanish monastery in Saint Barbara in Valencia. There, says the French Histo- rian Charles Dele, in Valencia, , in the church of St. John, in the chapel of Saint Barbara, we see a wooden coffin on which the following inscription is inscribed in Spanish: "Here Donna Constan is sleeping respected em- press of Greece". All of these are written down in the Holy Books of our Church and in the prophecies of our Holy Fathers after Christ.

- 113 - THE EMPERORS OF NICAEA

The two-headed eagle was first used by the emperors of Nicaea. It was altered by Ioannis the Vatatzis III (1222 - 1254), adding a sword to his right foot and a globe with a cross on the left leg of the eagle. From 1261 Byzantium was ruled by the Palaiologoi, the first being Michael and last being Constantine Palaiol- ogos until 1453, when we lost the city.

- 114 - THE PROPHECY OF Saint Nile, Who was a monk on Mount Athos in 1651 AD. Concerning the arrival of the Antichrist and about the People of the Last Century. (Authentic copy from the book "Evangelical Garden" of the Holy Monastery of Stavrovouni of Cyprus).

In the year 1900, moving towards the middle of the 8th century the world at that time be- comes unrecognizable. With the time of the Antichrist's coming, people's intellect will be disturbed by passions of the flesh, and wickedness and unlawfulness will become abundant, then the world will become unrecognizable, the forms of the people will be transformed and you will not be able to tell the difference between man and woman be- cause of the way that they will be disgracefully dressed and the way they wear their hair. The people at that time will become vicious and beastly by the plague of the An- tichrist. There will be no respect for the parents and the el- ders, love will disapper, the shepherds of the Christian Archpriest and Priests will be futile men, who are com- pletely unaware of the right path from the wrong "then

- 115 - the customs and traditions of Christians and of the church shall change”. Wisdom will be lost by the people, and prodigality will reign. Mendacity and avarice shall prevail, and alas to those hoarding great treasures. In the meanwhile, prostitution, adultery, homosexual- ity, theft and murders shall predominate in those times and because of all these great sins and lechery, the peo- ple will be deprived of the Grace of the Holy Spirit, which they received during their baptism, and there will be no feelings of guilt. God's churches will be deprived of pious people and pious shepherds and beware to the Christians living in such a world at that time.

- 116 - FREE AND UNCOMMITED THE CITY HAS NOT FALLEN

By Mrs. Eleni Kypreou Journalist, Author Published in an Athenian newspaper 28/5/90

The City has not fallen! Neither the ideals, nor the sym- bols, nor even Hellenism can be conquered. Only for a while do they rest and again towards glory they march! The City remains with us. The start of our new beginning. Despite the excitement and decay, the adventures, the blows and flares, Hellenism does not die that easily. No matter how many conspiracies are woven against it, Hel- lenism shall prevail. No matter how many hardships shall be endured by the people due to the incompetence of their loathsome lead- ers. Hellenism is unpredictable. Where its head bends deeply, exhausted by violence, it raises its body upright, reborn from its ashes. The previously scattered, lonely voices of the concerned Greeks, have multiplied. WHO IS FIGHTING HELLENISM? WHO HAS CON- QUERED THE CITY? AND HOW DID HE ENTER ITS half- shattered neighborhoods? It is said that a traitor pointed out the way, the kerkoporta (the Gate), to the hordes of the Sultan.

- 117 - Was this traitor a Greek? Was he also suffering from the anguish of the City being conquered and taking its last breath? What does it matter; The City, already in 1453, had been transformed into a SYMBOL. The Byzantine Empire was no longer in existence. Hel- lenism had to deploy itself in order to survive, even under a long period of slavery. There is an element that overlooks those who are in favor of the version of the CONSPIRACY THEORY AGAINST GREECE: DIVINE PROVIDENCE. No human work, on an individual or collective scale, occurs without the WILL of GOD. We were told a story some years ago by a remarkable personality (we adhere to her anonymity), herself being neither an imaginative nor a person of story telling. A few years ago, less than a decade ago, a Greek and a Turkish General commanded the Greek and Turkish bor- ders, divided by the river Evros, near the region of Thrace respectively. The two men became very close friends. All the more, because the Turkish general, had a Greek wife. When the time came to be transferred to another unit for another service, the Turk invited his Greek colleague. "All this time," he said, "we had a great time with nothing to worry about." The differences between our two countries did not affect

- 118 - our friendship, but we, the Turks, consider our friendship to be sacred. I would like to prove this to you tomorrow night". The following day, at ten o’clock sharp, the Greek got into the Turk’s private car. It was a moonless night. The streets were deserted. The expressway to the City was also open. Around midnight they must have approached the out- skirts of the city. All its residents were fast asleep, quiet- ness prevailed in the streets. The Turkish chauffer drove in and out of interwoven cobbled alleys It was a moonless night. He turned off the car engine, and stopped in front of a gate with Greek inscriptions on it: The fast pace, the anxiety, the curiosity did not leave the Greek, room to look, not even to think. He followed the Turk obediently, instinctively, without fear, with much trust. It never crossed his mind that his in- tentions could be bad. They stood in front of a double-ironed narrow . The Turk took out a key from his pocket. Unlocked and opened the door. It was a basement. The smell of mold and mildew seeped through the walls, because the place had been closed for so long. The Turk knew. But the Greek knew nothing yet. He could not justify the wandering.

- 119 - But he did not have time to process what was happen- ing. He followed in the Turks footsteps. With the certainty, that this was a unique moment. He would not have the opportunity, ever again, to relive such an incident. He followed. Was he dreaming? Was he sleepwalking? Might his fanciful imagination be re-creating paths, which only in light sleep could one be walking on? One thing was certain: He would never be able to find the way out again. Not without a guide. They had reached the end. A locked door once again in front of them. Heavy si- lence prevailed. The silence of the last hour, which only the gritting of the lock interrupted. The whine of the rusty iron. The heavy door opened slightly. A dim light was coming from the inside. It seemed over- whelming, out of this world and mysterious. Was it a base- ment, a dungeon or a ? “THE MARBLE KING LIVES! It's not a legend or false hope. Is it a phantasy of my dreams. Is it true. See for your- self”. On the floor, half-risen on one elbow, the Greek saw, with his own eyes the MARBLE KING RAISED. A supernatural shiver penetrated him. His eyes clouded over due to the tears in his eyes. His vision was blurred. He did the cross. In front of him, there, within reach,

- 120 - the MIRACLE. And it was him, the fortunate one, who had been forced to experience it with his senses. At a specific time and place. The silence was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. The Turk once again spoke: "A few years ago, the MARBLE KING lay in the ground. Lately he has begun to lift himself slowly. Let's go. " They closed the door again. They re-locked it. They returned back to the yard from the basement. They passed the iron-gate. They did not leave behind traces or their footprints. No one had seen them. They got into the car and started on their way back. They were deep in thought without utter- ing a word. It had not dawned yet when they reached Evros. Before separating, they kissed each other on the cheeks cross- wise. The water in the river was surging towards the . "Can a river flow backwards," the Greek general uttered to himself. "It can if God wants it to". He later served at the Headquarters. Before retiring, he felt obliged to reveal the great secret to the person who confided it to us, naming the general under the gaze of God and the Virgin. We also did our crosses mumbling "THE CITY HAS NOT FALLEN".

- 121 - CLARIFICATION

* Popular tradition speaks of Constantine Palaeologos. In fact, no other Saint and no other prophet speaks of Constan- tine, all the prophets speak of IOANNIS. The Greek general died in February 2001 having lived a fulfilled life. After careful research, we searched for and found the general's sister who confirmed to us that her brother’s unique experience was, in fact, a reality. He had witnessed with his own eyes the Emperor Ioannis, because this was what the inscription above the head wrote. When I went to Athens and met the Greek general’s sister Eleni, she said to us, “the general used to tell us about the Emperor, whom the Turkish General had pointed out to him, during lunch time”. We were regularly told by the Greek general: “I went to many states, but such a handsome man as the emperor I have never seen in my life, a very beautiful man, you would think he were alive without any signs of death on him.” Above the Emperor's Head wrote Ioannis. But he did not know which Ioannis it was. This was what the Greek general had told his sister. The Greek general had obviously seen the Emperor, Saint Ioannis Vatatzis, the Great Merciful One.

- 122 - LEO THE WISE THE COMPASSIONATE KING AND THE END OF THE WORLD

During the reign the great and hospitable emperor of the Byzantium, Leo, wise men, amongst others, the holy fathers Saint Andreas the Salus and Epiphanius, frequented his court. This is where the revealing conversation below took place. It concerned the coming of the end of days, what would the signs be and whether the people would be able to see them. "During the end of days God will resurrect a king from exile. This king will rule in the name of justice, stop all wars and enrich the poor. Then there will be great joy and satis- faction. The goods provided by the land and the sea shall be bountiful. Life will flow peacefully and calmly, and peo- ple will be happy all throughout his reign as they were dur- ing Noah's time until the coming of the end of the world".

- 123 - Russia will become dominant during the Third World War It refers to the Orthodox peoples called the Russians. (Note the Prophecy of Saint Method "the Blonde race shall pre- vail "+ Saint Andreas the Salos the Blonde nation is com- ing the foreground in the 17th element of the 24th reca- pitulative elements = R = Russia, + St. Agathangelos" Rus- sia has awoken from sleep. "Saint Kosmas Aitolos" a for- eign army will come, Christ they will believe in but they won’t speak the same language. "+ On the tomb of Con- stantine the Great:" And the Blonde will drive away all the Ishmaelites (Turks) and their agents and shall retake Ef- talofon( the City of the seven hils) with all its privileges." Russia will become the ruler of the Straits of the City for 5 months. During this time, the hardest battles will take place and the casualties of both will be infinite.

- 124 - THE LIFE OF THE SAINTLY EMPEROR

Saint Ioannis Doukas Vatazis, the Merciful One, was born in Didy- moteicho in 1193. He came from a family that was close to the royal sen- ate, since his grandfather Konstanti- nos, Vatatzis, was the army master of King Manuel of Komnenos. When Ioannis’ parents died, they left him a great for- tune, but he, as a wise man, shared it with the poor, as well as paid tribute to the Holy Temples and Churches, because "blessed are the lovers of the house of the Lord." Then Ioannis, since Constantinople was in the hands of the Franks, headed to Nymphaio of Bithynia, where the seat of his empire was, due to the fact that since 1204, the City had been conquered by deception by the "Crusaders" and a new emperor was proclaimed in Nice of Bithynia the blessed Theodore Laskaris, the poet of the Great Appeal to Our Lady Holy Mary, which we chant alternately with The Small one, every day, from the 1st to the 15th of August! When the King-hymnwriter of the Great Appeal to Our Lady Holy Mary died, he took over the Empire him- self in 1222 AD, as Ioannis Doukas Vatatzis III. And since

- 125 - then he once again showed how wise Theodore’s choice was. It was then that Ioannis, the protector of the un- derprivileged, the righteous judge, the source of inex- haustible charity, was given the nickname of the Merciful One!!! Vatatzis was the protector and supporter of the agrar- ian and bourgeoisie class and constantly sought to raise the standard of living, especially that of farmers and stock-breeders, so in order to help them he made a large inventory (something like a National Cadastre or Land Registry) and then confiscated pieces of land from the big landowners and the aristocrats and distributed them to all his poor citizens so that they could live comfort- ably and as humanely as possible! He became a true "father to all the Greeks", prohibit- ing in every way the exploitation of the people. He thought of himself as not just being a simple king but as chosen by the Lord to help his people and all those suf- fering unjustly! He even took such economic measures that forbade the wastage of private wealth, founded philanthropic houses, hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, built tem- ples, and helped the monasteries decisively. In fact, such was his political quality that when he once met Theodore's son when hunting wearing luxuri-

- 126 - ous clothes, he refused to greet him! And when his son asked him what the child had done wrong, Ioannis replied that those silk and golden garments that Theodore’s son was wearing were from the blood of his people and that he ought to know that every outing should be made for the people, because the wealth of the kings, belong to the people ! Ioannis Vatatzis never excluded from his mind the great desire, the recovery of Constantinople and the re-estab- lishment of the Greek-Christian Empire. That is why he worked in this direction with all the power of his soul. Wise, prudent and preventative in his politics, although he had elected able generals, he sought to avoid fighting. He knew never to undertake anything without careful preparation beforehand, while he was profoundly pious and showed respect to the most simplistic monk. The people loved him and the Church prayed for him! And he went even further towards the holy purpose of the homeland. He defeated the who still kept the city enslaved and imposed on them the treaty of 1225, in which they occupied all the territories of Asia Minor except those that were close to and across from Con- stantinople. He built a powerful fleet and freed Lesbos, ,

- 127 - , Ikaria, and other islands of the Greek Archipelago, making a good estimate of the fact that he who owns the fleet will govern the Aegean Sea, and therefore the Latins without warships and bases would not hold the City for long. So he captured the Elles Straits (Hellespontos) and attempted the first attacks on the out- skirts of Vasilida (the City), succeeding in 1225 to release the strategically important Adrianople! The road to the City of Grand Constantine was now open! To the east, the Mongols defeated the Sultan of Ico- nium, who was forced to seek a treaty with Nicaea, thus for the time being ceasing to be a danger, and by doing so freeing the hands of Vatatzis, who now defeats the in 1246 and frees part of the Axios Evros River. All the while the bells are close to breaking with joy when Ioannis Vatatzis, The Saintly king, enters the capi- tal of , the City of Saint Dimitrios, Thessa- loniki the second most important city after Constantinople with great excitement and emotion, in December of the same blessed year! However, his good companion, Irene Laskari, forever closes her eyes and he will always keep her sweet mem- ories forever. But he knows that he does not belong to himself but should sacrifice himself for his people and his homeland every day! Thus Ioannis, having developed

- 128 - a friendship with the German emperor Frederick II, agrees to marry Frederick Konstantia's daughter as a of a powerful alliance that will scare Europe and espe- cially the Latins, who are now being pressured from all around. But, while Ioannis Vatatzis made a powerful state from the ashes of the Byzantium and had squeezed the ring around Constantinople on November 4, 1254, at the age of 61, (as the say, while 1193-1254 comes out 61 years), leaves his last breath, on the road to the dream, on the road to duty, to the Faith of God, to the Debt for the Fatherland, to the Love for the People. The honest body of the pious, righteous, brave and merciful king was buried in a monastery built by him and named Sosadra, and through his own miraculous reve- lation he requested that his relic be transferred to Mag- nesia (of Asia Minor) ). But when they went to open the grave to perform the transshipment, instead of the known stench, a sweet smell spread around, as if a blooming garden had blossomed! But it was not just that. The deceased seemed to be sitting on a royal throne, without any bruises, no stench, no sign that he was dead!!! SEVEN YEARS he remained in the tomb and the color of his body was like any normal human being’s. He really looked like one living, the MARBLE KING!!! And

- 129 - even his clothes had also been preserved for seven years undisturbed and looked as though they had just been sewn! For so does God accept those who glorify Him on earth! Even now, the clergy and the people of Magnesia and its surroundings in Turkey gather every fourth of Novem- ber in the local church to commemorate Emperor Ioanni the Merciful. The Orthodox calendar mentions, on November 4th, the name Doukas Vatatzis. Indeed, the holy relic of the Saintly King Ioannis Doukas Vatatzis, has performed many miracles, miracu- lously curing illnesses by the grace of God, persecuting demons and curing a lot of passions. All these miracles accomplished through the grace of the Holy Spirit dwelling within.

- 130 - THEODOROS LASKARIS (1204-1222) Ioannis Vatatzis married the daughter of Theodoros Laskaris, Irene.

On April 23, 1204, when the Crusaders and the Venetians were entering Con- stantinople, and Alexios V, called Mourtzouflos, called for salvation to flee, the brave patriot Constantine Laskaris was elected emperor in Hagia Sophia by some brave patriots trying to save , what could be saved. Unfortunately, however, nothing could be saved. That is why Constantine Laskaris, together with his brother Theodoros and some distinguished laymen and clerics who did not want to be subjugated to the foreign con- queror, went to Asia Minor where they began to orga- nize the resistance against the Latins. There, in a battle against the Latins, Constantine Laskaris was killed (in the spring of 1205). The authority was bequethed to his brother Theodoros Laskaris, who was the son of Alexios Angelos III and was given the title of "Despot". Theodoros Laskaris was the founder of the "Empire of Nicaea", more correctly of the "Empire of the Laskars" or

- 131 - "West Asia Minor". When Theodore assumed power, he was 32 years old. He was a relative of the house of the Angels, through his wife Anna, the daughter of Emperor Alexios Angelos III and the house of the Komnenos through Alexios III. Theodoros Laskaris was leading an "Empire in Exile", which in its first steps encountered unimaginable diffi- culties. A modern scholar writes that seldom in Greek history, had a ruler had to face such great problems at the beginning of his reign, as Theodore Laskaris I. After these events, many Byzantine refugees from mainland Greece and from the Aegean islands that sought their salvation from the Frankish pirate raids began to flock to Nicaea, Prussia and other centers in Bithynia. A few days later (Easter of 1208), Theodore I was for- mally crowned in Nice as "King and Emperor of ", successor of the Byzantine emperors of Constantinople. He was now recognized as the only and legitimate emperor of the Byzantium, and the patriarch who lived in Nicaea, he had the title of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople and was recognized as the only and le- gitimate head of the Greek Church. Thus, Nice became the political and ecclesiastical cen- ter of the empire that had been expelled from Con-

- 132 - stantinople. Nice was, as it was said, the center of an em- pire in exile.

Death of Theodore A Laskaris. Judgments on his work. At the beginning of 1222, the founder of the Empire of Nicaea, Theodore Laskaris I, died. With hard and contin- uous struggles he managed to lay the foundations for the subsequent glorious development of the state of Nice. At the same time, he succeeded in reuniting his State with the great Byzantine tradition and strengthening and preserving Asian Hellenism. Michael Achominatos con- siders him the most important emperor of the Byzantium after the "Great Kingdom the Bulgaroktonos and the old- est noble Heraklion". Without denying the general dithyrambic qualities of the work and the personality of Theodore I, we can em- phasize this point: that the emperor through the chaos caused by the incompetence and betraying attitude of the Angels and the fall of Constantinople by the Cru- saders and the Venetians, he succeeded in creating a state which, in 1222, was a powerful force. This fact im- poses us to characterize him as one of the great emper- ors of the Byzantium.

- 133 - The two-headed eagle is a symbol of the National Idea and immortality of Hellenism and conceals a mysticism (for the marble king) and the hope for the resurrection of the Race and the Byzantine Empire.

VISIONS AND MIRACLES GENERAL MAKRYGIANNIS WITNESSED THE CROWNING OF THE SAINTLY EMPEROR IOANNIS VATATZIS WITHIN HAGIA SOFIA

The expected Holy King, of whom the prophecies, Saints and Modern Elders have spoken, had appeared personally and vigorously on December 20, 1849, to the very blessed General Makriyiannis, who recorded in de- tail these appearances and other miracles and revelations of God, of Mother Mary and Saints, in his manuscripts, totally unknown for decades! They had fallen into the hands of Yannis Vlachogiannis perhaps in 1936. They

- 134 - went to Constantinople and to Hagia Sophia, they or- dained him, seeing everything in his sleep. A fair amount of time having passed, they are said to have come to Constantinople. He went there and they crowned him, and he said to him, “You are the President of the Com- mission of my reign, when my appointed hour comes”. The first took siege of Constantinople in 625- 671, the Arabs in 671 for seven years, for the second time in 717, and the Russians twice in 865 and 1043. This is also verified by the saved manuscript “Theory of our holy Father Methodius (311) of Patara about the future things to happen.” “The Blonde Race will conquer the Eptalophos ( the City of the seven hills), for five or six years, and they shall plant cabbages in it, and many of them will be eaten in vengeance for the saints”.

- 139 - BEFORE THE FALL OF THE CITY Surprising Signs

While all these things were happening, some other things were also taking place these very same days, signs propheti- cally sent by God, pretexts for all the misfortunes that would soon find the City. Three or four days before this war began, and while all the inhabitants of the city, men and women, were holding a litany with the icon of the Virgin Mary and pleading with God, the icon suddenly fell from the hands of those who held it down to the ground without any violent movement or any carelessness having taken place. Everyone then was sur- prised to learn about the event and ran to pick it up, but the icon had stuck to the ground as if it was a heavy weight and no one could detach it. This event lasted for an hour until, with terrible difficulty and after screams and appeals, the priests and those who car- ried it, were able to pick it up and take it back on to their shoul- ders. Equally to past events, the inhabitants of the City were also terrified of all the supernatural phenomena that were occur- ring at that time, which were perceived as divine signs: strange and incomprehensible, such as thunder, lightning and terrify- ing lightning, strong winds, endless rains and cataclysms, un- usual occurences.

- 140 - Konstantinos Paleologos, The Last Emperor of the Byzantium, The Last Hours Before the Fall of the City

After he had finished his speech and thanked God with sighs and tears in his eyes, the whole audience an- swered in an elated voice: "Let us all die for the faith of Christ and for our homeland." The emperor listened to their words with joy, thanked them with all his heart and promised them rich gifts. Then he said, "Well brothers and sisters, be ready in the morning. With the power that God gives us and the help of the Holy Trinity, on which we support all our hopes. " The unfortunate Romans, after listening to the em- peror's words, hardened their hearts, embraced and cried all together. No one brought to mind any more his beloved children, his wife and his fortune, but they all wanted to die for the salvation of their homeland. Then they returned to their positions to keep the city walls. The emperor immediately went to the holy temple of Hagia Sophia, prayed with tears in his eyes and re- ceived communion. So did many others that night. Then he returned to the palace and apologized to all. Who can

- 141 - describe at this time the laments and the debauchery that were heard at the palace at the time? No man could be left emotionless. The sultan entered the city after its fall and immedi- ately sought to find out whether the emperor still lived or had been killed. Some came and told him that he had left, others that he was hiding in the city and some that he fell in battle. Wanting to be sure, he sent his people to look for him in the heaps of bodies of the dead Chris- tians and Turks. They cleaned the heads of many dead in the hope of finding the emperor, but with no result. They finally recognized him from the royal shin guards and the sandals on which golden eagles were painted ac- cording to the imperial custom. The sultan was pleased, but ordered the Christians who had been left after the massacres to bury him with royal honors. But alas, I am afraid of what God has in stall for me to see! Why has he kept me alive? The great-grand late em- peror was then 49, three months and twenty days old. As Leo the Wise chooses, the service remains endless in the epoch of that era. May 29th is the last day of the siege in which our Lord and God gave the verdict against the Greeks, and with his own wish the City fell into the hands of Muhammad, the successor of the Turk Murad, as you will be informed later.

- 142 - Still the eternal God wanted to give this tough deci- sion, and especially the first one, the one that St. Con- stantine made, standing on his horse on a column near the church of Hagia Sophia and prophesying by hand and saying: From here will come the one who will wipe me out, showing , that is Turkey.

- 143 - The Byzantine historian George Pachymeris, charac- terized by a fairly rational spirit, mentions, a miracle that happened around 1300 in Magnesia when the city suffered from the Turks. Every night the Guard of the Tower saw being taken around the walls a lit candle for two or three times each night. His inquiries could not solve the mystery. One night, his brother, who was deaf since birth, saw a man with a royal parchment holding a candle and wandering around the walls saying he ought to guard them. The deaf man in his agitation was healed and was able to hear. The man with the candle was the emperor Ioan- nis Vatatzis.

- 144 - MUHAMMED II THE CONQUERER

He noticed, of course, the great number of dead, the desolate houses, the im- mense damage, the total destruction. He was saddened by the thought and, as if he truly regretted that all this looting and destruction had taken place, a tear dropped from his eyes and he sighed deeply and in pain and said, "Look at the city which we sur- rendered to plunder and desolation." So did his soul hurt. And truly, this evil that occurred in our days was ter- rible. Such a bad thing concerning such a city and a bad thing that hed never happened in any of the old cities.

Help us Saint Giorgi and you Saint Cosmas, to take over the City and Hagia Sophia

- 156 - THE SIEGE AND FALL OF CONSTANTINOPLE Everything was lost. Hide sun and earth lament. The City has fallen. Thus the Turks became owners of Con- stantinople on Tuesday May 29, 1453, at 2:30 pm. They grabbed and captured those who found themselves in front of them, slaying those who attempted to resist, and in some places the land could not be distinguished due to the many dead bodies that had fallen down. The spectacle was horrible. There were lamentations everywhere, and everywhere women of all ages were kidnapped. Old men, young ladies and nuns were being dragged by their hair out of the churches where they had fled, crying and weeping. Who could describe the crying and the voices of the children or the desecration of the holy churches? The holy body and blood of Christ poured onto the earth. The Turks grabbed the sacred ves- sels, broke them or kept them on their behalf. The same was done with the sacred votive offerings. They trod on the holy icons, removed gold, silver and precious stones, and made beds and tables with them. Others decorated their horses with the golden silk vestments of priests and others made tablecloths. They grabbed the precious pearls of the holy relics, trampled on the holy relics of the saints, and, like the

- 157 - true precursors of the devil, they did countless immoral acts, which can only cause further lamentation. Christ, my King, Your decisions surpass the mind of man. Inside the immense church of Hagia Sophia, the Heaven on Earth, the 's glory, the chariot of Cherubim, the divine creation, the remarkable work- manship, the gem of the earth, the most beautiful of all the temples, one saw the Turks eating and drinking on the Holy Step and the Holy Table and women, young ladies and young children being raped. Who could re- main emotionless and not mourn about our holy church? Everyone was hurt by the evil they were seeing. People were lamenting in their homes and people were weeping in the streets, from within the churches men could be heard screaming with pain, women could be heard mourning, and various barbaric atrocities could be seen taking place. The nobles were being raped and the rich lost their fortunes. Countless amounts of felonies were being committed in the squares and the corners of the city. Those whom were found in the street they slaugh- tered with the blade of their sword, women, men, elders and children, indiscriminately. This massacre lasted from sunrise until midday, and those who were found in front of them were killed by their sword. Greek merchants

- 158 - who were able to escape remained in hiding in the un- derground caves. When their fury passed, they were found by the Turks, and all were captured and sold as slaves. The crews of the fleet that were in the Dardanellas, left their ships unmanned. They all began to run like rabid dogs on the land looking for gold, jewels and other riches, and even to capture merchants. They searched the nunneries mostly and all the nuns were sent to their fleet and were disgraced and humiliated by the Turks. Then they were all sold as slaves to the bazaars of Turkey. All the girls were disgraced and then sold at very high prices, although some of them preferred to be thrown into the wells and drown rather than fall into the hands of the Turks. Many married women did the same. The Turks loaded their ships with captives and unimaginable riches

- 159 - Saint Andreas the Salos (the Fool of Christ)

In the Mediterranean, ships will be thrown in the air like small bushes, and on the dry land from Constantinople and beyond Xirou, blood shall flow up to the horse's bridle and few will be saved and will remain from the remaining armies. On the 3rd day of the battle, at 3 o'clock a cloud will appear in the sky, from which the entire world will be enlightened, and on the right a fiery Cross will appear, then the warriors will throw their weapons to the ground and looking towards the sky in the direction of Greece, they will hear a thundering voice. Turning to the right, there is a man who has been elected as Despot, a friend of mine will create commis- sions, of the remaining armies of the Nations, and they will come to Greece at the end of the arc and find an elder sitting amid two columns named Ioannis, whom they will accompany with great joy and showing their gratitude towards the Lord, as they proclaim him em- peror of Constantinople, the entire Balkan Peninsula, Asia Minor, Egypt, Palestine to India. Then the Greek army will rush to occupy all these places, leaving in charge Commanders at the order of the

- 160 - Emperor to redeem the Nations, and all these places shall be subdued by the Greek Nation. First of all, the Synod of the Church and Jerusalem will meet in Athens, during the rebuilding of the City, having been destroyed by the fire of the war. Italy will find itself in a difficult position to come as a liberator. Germany will be a protector and will provide justice, and will be the first to support Greece, the Orthodox Balkan states, and will defend Greece, first believing in the Orthodox faith, so that will truly be glorified through Greece. All of this is written in the Holy Books of the Church and the prophecies of our Holy Fathers after Christ.

- 161 - Ioannis Vatatzis is not mentioned in any book of prophecies which has been written to date. I am the only author who has written about the Saintly Emperor Ioannis Vatatzis.

The best professor and preacher tells us about Ioannis Palaiologos and Ioannis Theologos. He does not mention Ioannis Vatatzis. Concerning the origin of Ioannis, that he is the brother of Andronikos Palaiologos the emperor of the Byzantium, to whom Ioannis gave the throne due to his divine zeal, as he was a Monk, full of virtue and building a Monastery in . It is not impossible, however, to speculate that he is Ioannis the Theologian. He does not mention Vatatzis.

- 162 - "And then the Holy King shall awaken whose name begins with an" I "and finishes with an "S.". Vatatzis is not mentioned.

The best preacher tells us about Ioannis Palaiologos. Vatatzis is not mentioned. Concerning the birth of Ioannis, that he is the brother of An- dronikos Palaiologos, the Emperor of the Byzantium, Ioannis gave the throne to a monk, who was virtuous and who built a monastery in Thes- salonica ... However, it is about the resurrection of Ioannis. Saint Tarsios calls him the holy king, for his great virtue, purity and holiness.

- 163 - The following is a touching Letter by Professor, Dr. Nicholas H. Harakakos.

University Department of Theology and Humanitarian Sciences President: Nikolaos Harakakos PhD. Address: N. Dimitrakopoulou 50, Koukaki 11742 Athens E-mail: [email protected] Athens, 5-10-2015

Dear Mr. Valavanis, I’m sending you this book review to inform the peo- ple because you are the first who brought to life the Saintly Ioannis Doukas Vatatzis the six-toed emperor of the Byzantium. God willing I shall be in Athens to set up a program so as to begin the dissemination concerning your book on Ioannis Vatatzis. The following is my article: George D. Valavanis is the first ever author to bring to life the Saintly Ioannis Vatatzis. The esteemed literary au- thor George D. Valavanis, researcher of the Holy scrip- tures, of the prophecies of the Holy Fathers, member of the Association of Letters and Arts of Thessaly (Union of Literary Authors of Larissa), is the first ever author who brought to life the Saintly Ioannis Doukas with his book “Saint Ioannis Vatatzis the Marble Emperor-the Six-toed

- 164 - Emperor of the Byzantium”, which has many enriched editions. Mr. Valavanis has completed a literary writing and re- search feat for, before him no one knew of Ioannis Vatatzis. Mr. Valavanis with patience and persistence studied the 12 Prophets, who prophecied about Ioannis Vatatzis linking him to the 3rd World War and the ex- pected resurrection of the Greek Orthodox Byzantium by the Grace of God. He is a fighter of the Orthodox Byzantium spirit. This is the reason why he is the first to bring to historical light the Saintly Ioannis Doukas Vatatzis the Six-toed Emperor of the Byzantium, an emblematic personality who will re-appear in a wondrous and glorious way to lead a Christian Hellenic at heart Empire of the new Byzantium Empire. Thus, the writer becomes a bearer of Orthodox Byzantine Theologian and Greek at heart philosophical references and urging contemplative views of the new geo-stratigical power. Mr. Valavanis’ book refers you to the ways of the new Byzantium and leads you to the realization of patriotic visualizations and offers inspiration for a Hellenic Chris- tian conscientious Revolution. It concerns all who feel and are Orthodox Christians and Hellenists. The atheistic European (enlightenment)

- 165 - has troubled our idealogical and spiritual movement and has brought nullification. With his book on Ioannis Vatatzis a movement of patriotic ante-nullification by the guidance of Vatatzis has begun. Not only congratulations but glorious prosperity is owed to Mr. Valavanis, the pioneer scouter of Ioannis Vatatzis who, believing in the resurrection of the grandeur of the Byzantium has brought to us the pure faith of Christ to the new Byzantium as well. The fulfill- ment of visions and requests. The re-kindling of ancestral virtues. The consolidation of the New Byzantium State.

- 166 - Review by the journalist and author Mrs. Eleni Kypraiou

Many bear the title of researcher few of them research in depth. Having as a guide his inbred charisma George Valavanis came into contact with me for the first time when a publication had fallen into his hands some years ago, in the beginning of the 90’s an article entitled “The City has not Fallen” it is included in his last edition and also posted on the Web. In summary, I would like to remind you that according to the statement of a Greek general who has seen the Marble King, he exists and has risen and leans on his elbow in the last few years. Hundreds of readers meanwhile have come into con- tact with me as the Legend of the Marble King lives in our collective and individual subconscience. No one has ever asked me whether the story I had written down was true and not a figment of my imagi- nation. The only exception was George Valavanis who persis- tently asked me as to who had told me the story. When and where had this taken place. I recalled only the name of the person who had narrated the story to me. With the same passion that drove him to identify the

- 167 - Marble King in the face of the Byzantium Emperor Saint Ioannis Vatatzis, he also sought to find the narrator of the story of the general. She had abandoned Greece and settled in Arizona, USA. George Valavanis went to her in order to be informed of the name of the general so as to look for him. Meanwhile the general had died but his sister still lived. George Valavanis having located her, visited her and she verified her brother’s experience. George Valavanis did not omit to inform me of his findings. This is how our long-lasting friendship and mutual ad- miration began. My dearest friend George, I wish you many new republications of your book with its constant improvement and tireless on your part, en- richment of your book.

- 168 - I HAD THE FORTUNE TO MEET HOLY PEOPLE.

In 1979-80 I met Saint Paisios. For two summers we sat out in the yard on logs and I spoke from noon to evening with him. It was very hot that day, the month of July. We had been walking for some time, from the monastery of Ibira to come to saint Paisios. He treated us to some beverages and we began our discussion. My head was hurting a lot. “My head hurts a lot father” I said and he brought me the relic of Saint Arsenios the Kapadokian, which he placed on my head and began reading prayers. My headache immediately vanished. I also had a serious problem. Whatever he told me occurred. I met Saint Porphirios in 1981 at Oropos. In the monastery he told me shocking things. I met Father Iakovos Tsalikis at Saint ’s in Evoia, he was a Holy man. I met Father Nikodimos at Sothico Corinthias, a Holy man. I also met Father Pandeleimon the Agiorite the ascetic whom I have mentioned in my book.

- 170 - AFTER THE SAINTLY EMPEROR, IOANNI VATATZI AND THE THIRD WORLD WAR THE ANTI-CHRIST WILL COME FOR THREE AND A HALF YEARS

Then he will answer them with great inhumanity of imbecility: "The sky" - he will tell them - "does not want to rain and the earth again will not bear any fruits, so from where am I to give you food?" As soon as those unhappy people hear these words, they will understand that he is the wicked Devil, and they will mourn painfully and will cry, they will be beating their faces with their hands and pulling their hair and say- ing to each other: "Alas to our misfortune, alas to the much lamented agreement, alas to the wicked and alas to the utter fall (we have been bewildered). “How were we misled by Lurer? How did we surren- der to Him? How did we get into his net? How were we caught in his net? How were we lured while studying the Holy Scriptures? Did we not understand their meaning?” Indeed, those who will have been tortured by secular affairs and with the desire of their age will easily be led to the Devil and sealed by Him.

- 171 - Then, in those days, the honest Body and Blood of Christ will not reappear (in the Churches), services will cease, the chanting will cease, the reading of the Scrip- tures will not be heard. Darkness will prevail in people and lamentation. Then gold and silver coins will be scattered on the squares, and nobody will be interested in sweeping them up. Everyone will take care to escape and hide, but nowhere will they be able to avoid traps because they will have the mark (666) on them, and so will clearly show that they are known to him. From the outside there will be fear, from inside terror night and day. In the squares and in the houses, hunger and thirst shall prevail. In the squares noises, in the houses laments. The beauty of the person will wrinkle, because their characteristics will become like the dead. The beauty of women will wither and the (fleshly) de- sire of all people will disappear. However, the merciful and philanthropist God will not abandon the human race even then, without consolation, and so it will make those days shorter. And the three and a half years (of the Antichrist's Power) will be shortened, for the few devout ones who will have escaped to hide in the mountains and the caves. These days will soon pass and soon the reign of the

- 172 - Lurer and the Antichrist will come to an end. So when what has been foretold will happen and the seven-year period will be shared in two, then the abom- ination of desolation and the Prophets of the Lord will come, and then the end of the world will come. Enoch, Elijah and John the Evangelist tell us that the antichrist will come. (Holy Gospel p. 84)

- 173 - AFTER THE ANTICHRIST, THE END OF THE WORLD IS COMING

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST, HE SHALL JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD

Then the Saintly Angels will run everywhere to bring together all the Nations that will be awakened by the frightening sound of the trumpet. And they will stand be- fore the footsteps of Christ, those who were once kings, the rulers, the chief priests, and the priests, to apologize for their flock to those who, through negligence, have lost even a sheep from their flock. Then they will be led (by the Angels in front of the feet of Christ) those who were not satisfied by their salary, but used widows and orphans and poor people. At that time the tax collectors who grabbed from the poor more that what was owed to them from the fields, the houses, and the churches will be brought forth to the feet of Christ. Then husband and wife shall be raised, full of shame, because they were not faithful to each other but were misled by the beauties of the flesh and followed their de- sires in their lives.

- 174 - Then, with fear and wonder, Angels, Cherubim, the six-winged and Seraphim will come, they will say loudly "Holy, Holy, Holy (you are) Lord Sabbath" (Isaiah 6: 3) And the King of all Kings will be revealed immediately on a frightening and high throne, and the Lord of the rulers, and the Judge of the unswayed, and the judge, who shall give everyone what is due to him. All people, righteous and sinful, will look at His face in fear. Then He will gather all the nations, as the Holy Gospel calls out loud. So what does the Lord say through the Gospel? "When the Son of Man comes with all his glory and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory and gather all His nations in front of Him and will place the people among them, as the shep- herd distinguishes the sheep from the goats and will place the sheep on His right, while the goats to His left. Then He will say to those standing to the right, "Come, the blessed by My Father, inherit the Kingdom of god, which hes been ready for you since the time of the cre- ation of the world" (Matthew 25: 31-34). Come, the Prophets, who have been persecuted in My Name. Come the Patriarchs, who you have shown disci- pline to Me, before My presence in the world and who have worshiped My Kingdom.

- 175 - Come, the Apostles, who have been mistreated be- cause of Me, during reincarnation, for the spread of the Gospel. Come Martyrs, who confessed to Me in front of tyrants and endured many tortures and punishments. Come, the Hierarchs, who performed the Divine in sanctity, and daily sacrificed My honorable Body and Blood. Come blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom, that has been prepared for You, for you have not given impor- tance to wealth. Come, those who have helped the poor, those who have helped the orphans, those who sympa- thized with the widows, those who watered the thirsty, those who nourished the hungry, those who hosted strangers, those who dressed the naked and visited the sick. Come all of you to inherit the Kingdom, which has been prepared for you since the world was created. Yes, My Kingdom has been arranged, Paradise has been opened, My immortality has been adorned. All of you come and inherit the Kingdom, which has been prepared for you since the creation of the World. "Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You? When Did we See You thirsty and gave You water to drink? When did we see You naked and dress You? When did we see You as a stranger and welcome You? When did we see You

- 176 - sick or in prison and come to You? (Matthew 25:35). Then the King of the Kings will again answer them by saying to them, "If you have done this to one of My few brothers, you have done it to me" (Matthew 25:36). If you have hosted nourished and given drink to the poor you have done it to me. "Come to the prepared for you Kingdom from the cre- ation of the Cosmos" (Matthew 25:35) and enjoy the eter- nal life of My Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit. Whose mouth, could narrate those goods, (1 Corinthi- ans 2: 9). Which a human eye hasn’t seen or heard and a human heart hasn’t tried all that God has prepared for those who love him. Learn now the voice that the righteous Judge will ad- dress to them, those that will stand on the left, God in anger and wrath, will say to them, "Leave my Presence, you are the cursed who will suffer in the eternal fire, pre- pared by the Devil and his servants "(Matthew 25:41). "Because I was hungry and you did not feed me. I was thirsty and you did not give me something to drink. I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, I was naked and you did not dress me. I was sick and you did not visit me. I was in jail and you did not come to me "(Matthew 25:44).

- 177 - You did not apply charity and did not deprive your souls from the hatred of your brethren. "For everyone who invokes my name, Oh Lord, Oh Lord, will not be saved, but only he who performs My will" (Matthew 7:21). "And they shall go to eternal Hell, while the righ- teous will enjoy eternal life" (Matthew 25:46). You heard, the Lord's answer, you met the Judge's ver- dict, you learned what terrible court is waiting for us, and what a terrible day and hour is in store for us. For this terrible time and day, let us take care of our daily pres- ence in that trial, humble and afraid, by performing good deeds and going to confession let the good and gracious God say to us, “You have been saved by your Faith”. (Matthew 25:23).

- 178 - DOOM’S DAY

- 179 - ΤROPARION PL.B Oh! What a terrible hour and day when the Judge shall sit upon the intimidating throne. Books are opened, deeds are verified and everything hidden in the darkness shall be brought to light. Angels will be running back and forth to summon all the nations. Come and listen kings and rulers, rich and poor, sinners and righteous ones that the Judge is coming, the One destined to judge all the universe and who shall not be present when angels are present, verifying all the deeds, the thoughts, the memories, every- thing done in broad daylight and in the darkness of the night. Oh what a terrible hour. But before the end come learn my cry- ing soul, God has returned, save me oh Lord, you are the only Merciful One!

- 186 - The first fall of the Queen of Cities on 12 April 1204 was the prelude to the final end. The incident was depicted by Delacroix in his painting “ The entrance of the crusaders in Constantinople”.

- 187 - Justinian created a second worthy of the first when he conquered the land which stretched from Spain to Persia. General Velissario’s contribution to the expansion of the territories proved invaluable. The city has fallen 29 May 1453 Who is this King At six o’clock in the morning at Whom everyone awaits dawn Might he be the King They took our city To resurrect the City. It is my wish Oh Lord and the wish of all the Greeks that we be there to see the future one day. Speaking with two children that had visited the city and prayed at the church of Zoodoxos Phgh at Baloukli, I listened with great emotion as they narrated the legend as a true story (and why I wonder shouldn’t it be) and described the half fried fish that are still swimming in the Holy Water!!!

The Half Fried Fish (Folklore Tradition) When the Turks were taking over the city a monk was frying seven fish in a frying pan. He had fried them on one side and when it was time to turn them over some- one came and told him that the Turks had taken the city. “I will believe that says the monk, if the fried fish come to life.” He barely finished what he was saying when the fish jumped out of the frying pan alive into the nearby water. And they are to this day the livened fish at
