Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. OUR FATHER Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. HAIL MARY Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. GLORY BE Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. THE NICENE CREED I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. 2 I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. 3 COME, HOLY SPIRIT V. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful; R. And kindle in them the fire of Thy love V. Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created; R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth. Let us pray: O God, Who has instructed the hearts of the Faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant we beseech Thee, that by the gift of the same Spirit we may be always truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation, through Christ Our Lord. Amen. THE ACT OF FAITH O my God, I firmly believe that Thou art one God in Three Divine Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I believe that Thy Divine Son became man, and died for our sins, and that He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou has revealed them, Who can neither deceive nor be deceived. THE ACT OF HOPE O my God, relying on Thy almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, 4 through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. THE ACT OF CHARITY O my God, I love Thee above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art all-good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee. I forgive all who have injured me, and ask pardon of all whom I have injured. THE MEMORARE Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided.     An Act of Spiritual Communion For use at Home Introduction Whenever anyone has been unable to receive Holy Communion, the tradition of the Church has been for them to make a ‘Spiritual Communion’. St. Thomas Aquinas wrote about this, saying we should have “an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Holy Sacrament and a loving embrace as though we had already received Him”. In making our communion spiritually, we join with Christians everywhere to be fed by the one who tells us, ‘I am the Bread of Life’. You may wish to find a space for prayer in front of a cross, a candle or an icon. You might choose to make your Spiritual Communion at a particular time of the day or week, or after viewing a live streamed service. You may like to begin with the Prayer of Preparation: Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known and from whom no secrets are hidden, cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord.     SUNDAY EUCHARIST AND Prayer for SPIRITUAL COMMUNION The FEAST OF ST. MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS September 27, 2020 CHRIST’S CHURCH CATHEDRAL, HAMILTON Worship lies at the heart of the Christian life. It is in worship that we express our theology and define our identity. It is through encountering God within worship that we are formed and transformed as the people of God. One of the glories of the Anglican Church is its liturgical worship. Liturgy refers to the patterns, forms, words and actions through which public worship is conducted. The people’s responses are in bold. This type of note, offering directions about the service is called a “rubric”, which comes from the Latin word rubrica (red) – referring to a time when these instructional notes were always written in red. As sojourners on this land, we acknowledge the heritage and history of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe nations at the time of the creation of the “Dish With One Spoon” wampum agreement. As partners with them and with all of God’s Creation, we honour and respect these nations. We walk together with all whom we meet here justly, mercifully and humbly. The Gathering of the Community When the service is accompanied by music, it often begins with an instrumental or vocal piece of music during which the congregation can prepare for worship.     Perfect Contrition and Spiritual Communion What to do if you cannot go to Confession or Holy Communion due to the COVID-19 coronavirus If you have to self-isolate or are quarantined due to the COVID-19 coronavirus, it is unlikely that you will be able to receive the sacraments as normal. In these circumstances, there are devotions through which you can receive absolution for your sins, (under certain conditions), and the consolation of Eucharistic grace. These devotions are officially encouraged by the Church and have been practiced by saints. How to make an Act of Perfect Contrition Through an act of Perfect Contrition, you receive pardon for your sins outside of confession, even mortal sins, on condition that you determine to amend your life and make a firm resolution to go to sacramental confession as soon as this becomes possible for you. Perfect Contrition is a grace from God, so sincerely ask for this gift throughout the day prior to making your act of contrition: “My God, grant me perfect contrition for all my sins”. 1. In reality or imagination kneel at the foot of a crucifix and say to yourself: “Jesus, my God and my Saviour, in the midst of your agony, you remembered me, you suffered for me, you wished to wipe away my sins”. 2. Contrition is ‘perfect’ if you repent of your sins because you love God and are sorry for offending Him and causing the sufferings of Christ on the cross. Before the Crucified Christ remember your sins, repent of them because they have brought our Lord to His sufferings on the Cross.

    R.E. Prayer Requirement Guidelines This year in the Religious Education Program we are re-instituting Prayer Requirements for each grade level. Please review the prayers required to be memorized, recited from text, \understood, or experienced for the grade that you are teaching (see p. 1) Each week, please take some class time to work on these prayers so that the R.E. students are able not only to recite the prayers but also to understand what they are saying and/or reading. The Student Sheet (p. 2) will need to be copied for each of your students, the student’s name placed on the sheet, and grid completed for each of the prayers they are expected to know, or understand, or recite from text, or experience. You may wish to assign the Assistant Catechist or High School Assistant to work, individually, with the students in order to assess their progress. We will be communicating these prayer requirements to the parents of your students, and later in the year, each student will take their sheet home for their parents to review their progress. We appreciate your assistance in teaching our youth to know their prayers and to pray often to Jesus… to adore God, to thank God, to ask God’s pardon, to ask God’s help in all things, to pray for all people. Remind your students that God always hears our prayers, but He does not always give us what we ask for because we do not always know what is best for others or ourselves. “Prayer is the desire and attempt to communicate with God.” Remember, no prayer is left unanswered! Signed: 2 Abstract This thesis investigates the lives, movements and performances of dancers in a Romanian urban folk ensemble from an anthropological perspective. Drawing on an extended period of fieldwork in the Romanian city of Timi şoara, it gives an inside view of participation in organised cultural performances involving a local way of moving, in an area with an on-going interest in local and regional identity. It proposes that twenty- first century regional identities in southeastern Europe and beyond, can be manifested through participation in performances of local dance, music and song and by doing so, it reveals that the experiences of dancers has the potential to uncover deeper understandings of contemporary socio-political changes. This micro-study of collective behaviour, dance knowledge acquisition and performance training of ensemble dancers in Timi şoara enhances the understanding of the culture of dance and dancers within similar ensembles and dance groups in other locations. Through an investigation of the micro aspects of dancers’ lives, both on stage in the front region, and off stage in the back region, it explores connections between local dance performances, their participants, and locality and the city.

    Father’s Corner Dear Loving parishioners, Love and Peace of Christ! The feast and its objectives: All baptized Christians who have died and are now with God in glory are considered saints. All Saints Day is intended to honor the memory of countless unknown and uncanonized saints who have no feast days. Today we thank God for giving ordinary men and women a share in His holiness and Heavenly glory as a reward for their Faith. This feast is observed to teach us to honor the saints, both by imitating their lives and by seeking their intercession for us before Christ, the only mediator between God and man (I Tm 2:5). The Church reminds us today that God’s call for holiness is universal, that all of us are called to live in His love and to make His love real in the lives of those around us. Holiness is related to the word wholesomeness. We grow in holiness when we live wholesome lives of integrity, truth, justice, charity, mercy, and compassion, sharing our blessings with others. We can take the shortcuts practiced by the three T(h)eresas: i) St. Teresa of Avila: Recharge your spiritual batteries every day by prayer, namely, listening to God and talking to Him ii) St. Therese of Lisieux: Convert every action into prayer by offering it to God for His glory and for the salvation of souls and by doing God’s will to the best of your ability. iii) St. Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa): Do ordinary things with great love.
