Prometna Povezanost
Tourism Introduction Zadar County encompasses marine area from Island Pag to National Park Kornati and land area of Velebit, i.e. the central part of the Croatian coastline. This is the area of true natural beauty, inhabited from the Antique period, rich with cultural heritage, maritime tradition and hospitality. Zadar County is the heart of the Adriatic and the fulfilment of many sailors' dreams with its numerous islands as well as interesting and clean underwater. It can easily be accessed from the sea, by inland transport and airways. Inseparable unity of the past and the present can be seen everywhere. Natural beauties, cultural and historical monuments have been in harmony for centuries, because men lived in harmony with nature. As a World rarity, here, in a relatively small area, within a hundred or so kilometres, one can find beautiful turquoise sea, mountains covered with snow, fertile land, rough karst, ancient cities and secluded Island bays. This is the land of the sun, warm sea, olives, wine, fish, song, picturesque villages with stone- made houses, to summarise - the true Mediterranean. History of Tourism in Zadar Tourism in Zadar has a long tradition. The historical yearbooks record that in June 1879 a group of excursionists from Vienna visited Zadar, in 1892 the City Beautification Society was founded (active until 1918), and in 1899 the Mountaineering and Tourism Society "Liburnia" was founded. At the beginning of the XX century, in March 1902 hotel Bristol was opened to the public (today's hotel Zagreb). Most important period for the development of tourism in Zadar County lasted from the 60's - 80's of the 20th century, when the majority of the hotel complexes were erected. -

February 13, 1992 Volume 4, Issue 4 His Excellency Franjo Tudjman President of the Republic of Croatia Radi ev Trg 2 41000 Zagreb Croatia Dear President Tudjman: The U.S. Helsinki Watch Committee is deeply concerned by reports of serious human rights abuses by forces responsible to the Croatian government and by individual extremists in Croatia. Our own investigations of these reports, conducted during a series of fact-finding missions to Croatia in the past year, indicate that many of these reports are well-founded. We call upon you to investigate the abuses enumerated in this letter and to punish those responsible for them. We call upon you to take immediate measures to ensure that such violations of human rights do not occur again. The abuses described in this letter include violations of the laws of war in the current conflict between Croatian and Serbian forces and the Yugoslav army, including the summary execution of civilians and disarmed combatants; the torture and mistreatment of detainees; arbitrary arrests and disappearances; destruction of civilian property and the killing of journalists covering the war. In addition to violations connected with the war, Helsinki Watch has also documented restrictions on freedom of expression and the press and interference with the independence of the judiciary. Finally, we are gravely concerned about the harassment, discrimination and rising violence against Serbs not engaged in the armed conflict in Croatia. Rules of War Violations in Croatia by Croatian Forces Violations of the rules of war are often committed by local police officers and members of the Croatian army1 in areas which are under heavy siege by Serbian forces and the Yugoslav army. -

Central position on the Adriatic total area 7.276,23 km² (6.4% of the territory of the Republic of Croatia) land surface 3643.33 km (46% of total surface) marine part of 3,632.9 km² (11.6% of Croatian territorial waters) island area 580 km² (8% of the county's surface) coastal area length 1350 km (22% of the coast of Croatia) Maritime benefits of 25 JLS (out of 34 JLS total) Maritime orientation The Zadar County forms the vision of a social-market economy in the existing territorial framework. Polycentric and balanced development is a key element of development. Urban, rural and island space complement each other and create a unique space of good living, based on the broad partnership of all our local communities. Comparative advantages such as good traffic connections, natural beauties and values as well as central position in the Croatian Adriatic coast are the starting points for the development of the Zadar County based on the objectives of EU development policy : • Smart growth through stimulating development, innovation, education and digital society, • Sustainable development with the growth of competitiveness, • Inclusive growth through poverty reduction and employment promotion. TRAFFIC CONNECTION: Zadar County for its geo-traffic position occupies a very important place in the Republic of Croatia and has the important role in traffic connection between northern and southern part of Croatia, as in the road, thus in rail and air traffic. By the construction of highway, hinterland of the Zadar County is better connected with coastal part, while the modernization of sea ports enabled easy connection of inhabited islands with the mainland. -
Pag Ugljan Pašman Dugi Otok Iž & Rava Silba, Olib
FORTICA - PAG PAŠMAN Oasis of peace and quiet, connected by bridge with the island of Ugljan and by ferryboat with Biograd na Moru on the mainland. An island of farmhands who later turned to the sea and fishing preserving its tu- multuous history in the Benedictine monastery on the hill of Čokovac near Tkon and the Franciscan monastery near Kraj. These will fascinate nature and culture lovers. The trails are a unique experience for walking and cycling in mountain bike and leading to the highest peak of the island on Bokolj where the view extends from the peaks of Mount Vel- ebit to the hundreds of islands and islets and the Channel from Zadar to the Kornati islands. The Pašman Channel is a natural phenomenon with its green islands, ideal area for sailing and other nautical activi- ties. The southern part of the island, accessible by narrow roads and rustic houses, today partly intended for tourism, will bring you closer to Robinson tourism and the entire island will give you pleasure with its beaches. Sailing by the islands, islets and reefs in one of the most indented wa- ters of Europe is the trademark of this region. The marvellous channel with its pleasant mistral wind, gentle coves, outlines of fortifications and churches in the sunset, green islands covered with Mediterranean macchia, pine and olive trees encircled by a crystal sea inspire with Sailing beauty and offer safety. A dozen marinas and moorings, anchorage in attractive coves, charter fleets and experiences skippers are at disposal to all those who wish to try. -

HRVATSKI GEOGRAFSKI GLASNIK 71/1, 33 – 66 (2009.) UDK 911.3:728.71](497.57/.58) Original Scientifi c Paper Izvorni znanstveni članak Recent Characteristics of the Second Home Phenomenon in the Croatian Littoral Vuk Tvrtko Opačić The study analyses the characteristics of developmental dynamics and spatial distribution of the second home phenomenon in the Croatian littoral, the leading receiving second home area in the country, after the Second World War, with particular emphasis on the recent period (after the Homeland War and Croatian liberation). The period of the conversion and adaptation of the existing and abandoned housing stock into recreational second homes (mostly in 1960s and 1970s) and the period of the construction of the purpose-built dwellings for vacation and recreation, i.e. family weekend-houses (in 1970s and 1980s), was followed by the period of a more intensive construction of multi-apartment recreational buildings (from mid 1990s until the present time). The second home phenomenon fi rst spread in the area of the Northern Croatian Littoral. Then, between 1980 and 1990, it made signifi cant inroads also into Dalmatia. After the Homeland War and in the last ten years, it again became more prominent in the Kvarner and Istria. The geographical distribution of dwellings for vacation and recreation in 2001, covering the period between the two censuses of 1991 and 2001, reveals the persistence of earlier trends towards greater concentration of second homes in the leading tourist regions along the Croatian littoral, but also the increased dispersion into the regions which do not have as high value for tourism but are suitable for accommodating second home dwellings.
