Deutzia is a genus of around 60 native to Asia, America and Europe. Fifty of deutzia can be found in China alone. The various species differ in height from around 3 – 13 feet tall. They are low maintenance bushy with clusters of white or pink flowers with five petals. Some species of deutzia have peeling bark which adds to the interest of these pretty and easy to grow plants. It will benefit from thinning out of the branches to keep a good shape, allowing the branches to arch naturally. They like moist fertile soil and plenty of sun.
