Accepted 30 September, 2011 In this study, Purpureae A.Duran and Ö.Çetin sect. nov. is described under the genus Fibigia Medik. The taxa of the genus were revised under the sections Fibigia and Purpureae . Fibigia clypeata (L.) Medik was classified as F. clypeata (L.) Medik subsp. clypeata and subsp. anatolica A.Duran & Tu şta ş subsp. nov., and Fibigia eriocarpa (DC.) Boiss. was rearranged as F. clypeata (L.) Medik subsp. clypeata var. eriocarpa in Turkish Flora. The infrageneric and subgeneric keys were revised. Seed and pollen surface ornamentations were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The pollens examined have tricolpate aperture type and reticulate surface ornamentation. Seed surface ornamentation was reticulate. The taxa of the genus Fibigia have a diploid chromosome number of 2n=16. Karyotype analyses of the taxa were carried out for the first time. It was found that each taxon differed in chromosome morphology. Key words: Fibigia , morphology, pollen, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), new taxa, Turkey. Bu çalı şma kapsamında bilim dünyasına için Fibigia clypeata subsp. anatolica yeni bir endemik takson olarak betimlendi. Fibigia clypeata türü; subsp. clypeata ve subsp. anatolica olmak üzere iki alttüre ayrıldı. Ayrıca subsp. clypeata taksonu, var. clypeata ve var. eriocarpa olmak üzere iki varyete olarak de ğerlendirildi. Sitogenetik çalı şmalar kapsamında Fibigia cinsine ait F. clypeata subsp. clypeata var. clypeata, F. clypeata subsp. clypeata var. eriocarpa , F. macrocarpa ve F. suffruticosa taksonlarının diploid kromozom sayısı 2n=16 olarak tespit edildi. We explored this issue by investigating tri- chome biomineralization in 36 species of Mediterranean Brassicaceae from ultramafic and calcareous soils. Our aims were to chemically characterize biomineralization of different taxa, including metallo- phytes, under natural conditions and to investigate whether divergent Ca, Mg, Si and P-levels in the soil are reflected in trichome biomineralization and whether the elevated heavy metal concentrations lead to their integration into the mineralized cell walls. Forty-two samples were collected in the wild while a total of 6 taxa were brought into cultivation and grown in ultramafic, calcareous and standard potting soils in order to investigate an effect of soil composition on biomineralization. The sampling included numerous known hyperaccumulators of Ni. EDX microanalysis showed CaCO3 to be the dominant biomineral, often associated with considerable proportions of Mg—independent of soil type and wild versus cultivated samples. Boiss. ex Prantl for the first time. Different plant parts (flower, leaf, stem, and seed) of F. triquetra were characterized and quantified for glucosinolates (GLs) according to the ISO 9167-1 EU official method based on the HPLC analysis of desulfo-GLs. A taxonomic screening showed that F. triquetra contained relatively high levels of C-4 GLs, namely but-3-enyl GL (gluconapin, 1a), 4-methylsulfanylbutyl GL (glucoerucin, 3a), and 4-methylsulfinylbutyl GL (glucoraphanin, 5a). -

Accepted 20 March, 2013 In this study, 61 wild plant taxa belonging to 30 families that are used as medicine are documented in Keban (Elazı ğ). The most encountered medicinal plant families were Lamiaceae (10 taxa), Asteraceae (8 taxa), Fabaceae (6 taxa) and Rosaceae (5 taxa), the most common preparations were infusion and decoction. These folk medicinal plants are mostly used for treatment of kidney stones, colds and flu, analgesic, cough, for skin and diabetes diseases. Mentha longifolia (L.) Huds. subsp. typhoides (Briq.) Harley var. typhoides , Salvia syriaca L., Rosa canina L., Thymus kotschyanus Boiss. & Hohen. var. kotschyanus , Portulaca oleracea L. and Rumex acetosella L. were the plants most used by the local people in Keban, Turkey. We arrived at Yerevan Zvartsnots Airport where, after changing money and collecting our luggage, we met with Anush, our local leader, and Edik, our driver for the week. Around the airport there were good numbers of Common Swift together with Magpie, and Common Starling. We transferred to our bus for the short journey through the Armenian capital to the Hrazdan Hotel, our base for the first two nights of the tour. After rooms had been allocated, we took a late dinner, and retired for the night. Day 2 Sunday 3rd June Mount Aragats & Amberd At 9am, following breakfast, we left the hotel and were on our way north-westwards towards Mount Aragats. Along the way we saw Rosy Starling, Magpie and numerous Common Swifts. Our first stop today was in an area of degraded steppe, just off the main road at the junction to Byurakan. -
