ABSTRACT - The intramontane Mercure Basin occupies a broad area within the Basilicata region (southern Apennines, Italy) located between Mt. Pollino to the SE and the Lauria Mts to the NW. It comprises non-marine deposits varying from coarse fluvial gravels and sands at the base, to fine, lacustrine, calcareous muds at the top. Large mammals, freshwater molluscs and tephrostratigraphical analyses indicate a Middle Pleistocene age for these deposits. A new extinct and endemic species, Emmericia lucana n. sp., representative of the Family Emmericiidae (Caenogastropoda, Truncatelloidea), was found among the rich malacological assemblages of the lacustrine layers and is herein described. It is the first record of the genusEmmericia Brusina, 1870 in the Middle Pleistocene of Italy. RIASSUNTO - [Emmericia lucana n. sp. del Pleistocene Medio del Bacino del Mercure (Italia meridionale)] - Il bacino intramontano del Mercure occupa in Basilicata una vasta area compresa tra il massiccio del Pollino a SE ed i monti di Lauria a NW. Si tratta del riempimento pleistocenico di una depressione di origine tettonica, i cui sedimenti passano da ghiaie grossolane e sabbie, alla base, a limi calcarei lacustri fini e laminati al tetto. La loro età medio-pleistocenica è indicata dalla presenza di grandi mammiferi e molluschi dulcicoli, oltreché da analisi tefrostratigrafiche. Una nuova specie estinta ed endemica della Famiglia Emmericiidae (Caenogastropoda, Truncatelloidea), Emmericia lucana n. sp., è stata rinvenuta nelle ricche associazioni malacologiche dei limi lacustri. Si tratta del primo rinvenimento del genere Emmericia Brusina, 1870 nel Pleistocene Medio italiano. The recorded assemblages (Cavinato et al., 2001), and rare fluvio-lacustrine molluscs are dominated by aquatic prosobranchs, and locally by of low-energy environment, such as few remains of bivalves. Bithynia leachii (Sheppard, 1823) with opercula, Valvata piscinalis (Müller, 1774) and Pisidium sp. More than 1,000 nominal species bear simple plesiomorphic shells, whose variability is high and overlapping between the taxa, and the soft part morphology and anatomy of the group is simplified because of miniaturization, and unified, as a result of necessary ad- aptations to the life in freshwater habitats (osmoregulation, internal fertilization and eggs rich in yolk and within the capsules). The single genus Emmericia Brusina, 1870 occurs along the Adriatic coast from NE Italy to south- ern Croatia. It is characterised by the peculiar anatomy of the male genitalia (tri-lobed penis, bifurcate flagellum and penial gland). Mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) gene sequences, analysed to- gether with nuclear 18S ribosomal RNA gene sequences, showed Bithyniidae and Bythinellidae as the sister taxa of the Emmericiidae, and confirmed the homology of the flagellum and penial gland in the Emmericiidae, Bythinellidae, Amnicolidae and Bithyniidae. The phylogenetic trees placed them most closely to Agrafia from continental Greece. The p-distances indicated that two species occurred in the three localities. Two specimens from Andros Island (Greece) were also assigned to the genus Agrafia. The p-distances between the four taxa, most probably each representing a distinct species, were within the range of 0.026–0.043 for H3, and 0.089–0.118 for COI.     Vol. 14(3): 99–168 MOLECULAR PHYLOGENY, SYSTEMATICS AND MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTER EVOLUTION IN THE BALKAN RISSOOIDEA (CAENOGASTROPODA) MAGDALENA SZAROWSKA Department of Malacology, Institute of Zoology, Jagiellonian University, Ingardena 6, 30-060 Kraków, Poland (e-mail: [email protected]) ABSTRACT: Morphological characters in 33 Balkan rissooid genera (Adriohydrobia, Adrioinsulana, Alzoniella, Anagastina, Belgrandiella, Bithynia, Boleana, Bythinella, Bythiospeum, Daphniola, Dianella, Emmericia, Graecorientalia, Graziana, Grossuana, Hauffenia, Heleobia, Horatia, Hydrobia, Islamia, Lithoglyphus, Litthabitella, Marstoniopsis, Orientalina, Paladilhiopsis, Parabythinella, Pontobelgrandiella, Pseudamnicola, Pseudobithynia, Pyrgula, Sadleriana, Trichonia, Ventrosia) are discussed and illustrated based on the literature and, where necessary, on the presented additional data. These include shell macrocharacters, protoconch sculpture, soft part morphol- ogy and pigmentation, radulae, stomach, female reproductive organs, male reproductive organs. Based on partial sequences of the ribosomal 18S RNA gene, a molecular phylogeny is presented for all the genera, and based on fragments of CO1 gene in mitochondrial DNA, for all except six genera. Based on the Adams con- sensus tree the two gene phylogenies are summarised and systematics of the group is proposed. Adrioinsulana is considered a junior synonym of Pseudamnicola; Parabythinella a junior synonym of Marstoniopsis; a new name: Radomaniola n. gen. is proposed as a replacement name for the preoccupied

(2002), le nombre de changements est tel qu’une mise à jour a été nécessaire. Nous présentons donc une Liste de référence réactualisée, où tous les changements (nouveaux noms, actes taxonomiques et nomenclaturaux) par rapport à celle de 2002 sont liés à une note faisant référence à la bibliographie concernée, consultée jusqu’à fin 2010. Au total, ce sont 93 taxons terminaux qui viennent enrichir la malacofaune de France, dont 61 récemment décrits et 20 qui en sont retirés. Cette faune compte actuellement 783 taxons terminaux (695 espèces) avec un taux d’endémisme de 43 %. La présente liste a pour vocation de fournir le nouveau cadre taxonomique résultant de dix années de recherches sur la systématique des mollusques continentaux. Aucun acte nomenclatural ou taxonomique nouveaux n’a été réalisé lors de ce travail.
