The Mail Room

The Mail room staff and crew would like to wish all a “Happy Holiday Season.” We are as busy as Santa’s Elves receiving and delivering all of the Christmas packages and cards. Please be patient with us delivering the mail to your boxes. As you may guess, the US Post Office is very busy this time of year and if their truck is late our mail is late! If we don’t receive the mail in our bin on time, your mail might be delayed a day. We also need those pink cards brought back to us as soon as possible. We have to clean them and reuse them on a daily basis. Priority flat rate envelopes or boxes have to be in the Mail Room by 4:00pm Donna Cox Monday thru Friday or 3:00pm on Saturday to go to the Post Office the next Mail Room Supervisor morning. We only go to the US Post Office once a day and that is at 9:00am. We pick up stamped letters that are in the white receptacles at 9:00am six days a week. Please do not put any mail without postage in the white boxes. If you want to send mail to park residents, please put their last name and site number on the front with a return site number in the upper left corner. Bring these letters to the Mail Room. Do not put this type of mail into the white receptacles, as this mail goes directly to the US Post Office, never to be returned to us. We will be closed Monday, December 26th, the Federal holiday. The Mail Room will reopen Tuesday, December 27th at 10:00am. —Donna

Hello Friends! Yes, we survived the USAPA Nationals Tournament, had a wonderful Thanksgiving feast, and now it’s all about the holidays! If you see me with an extra bounce in my step over the next few weeks, that’s because I’m going home to spend Christmas with my kids and grandkids. It truly is a special time of year. As you scroll through The Happenings, please watch for the FREE movies we’re planning this month. All movies will have a holiday theme to spread more holiday cheer. We will Marion Nelson have freshly popped popcorn for sale, as well as sodas and ice cream. Bring your own comfy Event Manager lawn chair or use one of our (not so comfy) chairs – your choice. If you are joining us for our Christmas meal, I’m sure you will enjoy our traditional dinner… carved country ham, complete with all the fixings. Lorrie and Ben Parris will entertain you with background holiday music while you dine and socialize with friends. Tickets are still available now, but will likely sell out soon. Our New Year’s Eve Party is nearly sold out, so please don’t delay. We’re bringing in “Spotlight,” a very popular band that will have you dancing and partying all night. We’ll also start the midnight countdown at 10:00 pm (which is 12:00 Eastern Standard Time), and then every hour for those that can’t make it to our midnight. That way, everyone can ring in the new year! I wish you all the most joyous holiday season! ~ Marion

Giving Tree for Foster Kids Our annual Giving Tree, located in the Activities Office, is ready and waiting for you. Come pick a tag for a foster child, record it in Activities and then shop for gifts that will make a girl’s or boy’s heart melt during the holidays. We ask that gifts be valued between $35 and $50 per child. Please ensure you bring the gifts unwrapped, with name tag attached, back to Activities by December 9th. Our party for the children is the following day. Don’t have time to shop? Of course, we are happy to accept cash donations. We also appreciate donations of heavy holiday wrapping paper. Please no bicycles. We have no room to store them and no way to transport them. From the Pinal Council for CASA, Inc., and the Coolidge Elks Club, we extend our sincere thanks. Without your support, the holidays would be a bit emptier for these unfortunate children. Bless you all, Gerri Sheedy, PCCI.

Events and Activities

We are very excited this month with our line-up. On December 11th it’s Magic. This fantastic group sings hits from , the Four Tops, , and Gladys Knight, just to name a few. Motown music had a significant impact on the music and culture of the 1960’s and early 70’s. It was part church gospel, part jazz joint and part street corner symphony. What a sound! Come listen to some great music.

Mary Ann Brown Activities Manager We have three dances in December. Our first dance is on December 3rd with Saguaro Sunset playing all of our favorite country music. Put on your boots and let’s do some line dancing.

On December 10th it’s Come Back Buddy. This is a repeat band for the last few years, very popular with our residents who remember and love Buddy Holly music.

And our final dance this month is on December 17th with the 8 Tracks Band. They will have you dancing to all the 50’s and 60’s hits that we all love. Watch out! You just may get to share the microphone and sing with the band! This is a very interactive band that everyone loves. Don’t miss out on this one!

If you haven’t done so, be sure to purchase your tickets as soon as you can. We are beginning to sell out of some events already.

I look forward to seeing all of you again!
