REGULATIONS RELATINGTO FEES PAYABLE TO COUNCIL

The Minister of Health intends, in terms of section 61(1), read with section 61(4) of the Health Professions Act, 1974 (ActNo. 56 of 1974), in consultation with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, to make the regulationsin the Schedule.

Interested persons are invited to submit any substantiated comments or representations on the proposed regulations to the Director-General of Health: Private Bag X828, Pretoria, 0001 (for the attention of theDirector: Human Resource Development), within one month of the date of publication of this notice. I

SCHEDULE

1. In these regulations any expression to which a meaning has been assigned in the Act shall have that meaning and, unless inconsistent with the context-

"practitioner" means a person registeredin terms of the Act to practisein a profession for which the Act provides;

"section" means a sectionof the Act; and

"the Act" means the Health ProfessionsAct, 1974 (Act No. 56 of 1974).

2. The registration fees payable under the Act as from1 April 2001, shall be as follows:

(a) Bya medical practitioner or a dentist ...... R365.00

(b) Byapsychologist ...... R300.00

(c) By a member of another health profession provided for under the Act ...... R150.00

(e) By an intern-psychologist...... R55.00

(9 By a student-intern...... .00

(9) By any student registrable under the Act ...... R50.00

(h) By any visiting student registrable under the Act...... R150.00

(i) Byany student registrable under the Act for re-registration as such a student afteran interruption of atleast one year ...... .00

(j) By any student registrable under the Act as a penalty for the late payment of the registration fee by such a student per month or portionof a month for which the application for registration was submitted after the prescribedtime ...... R20.00

(k) By aformerly registered medical or dentalstudent for the resumption of

registration as a dental or medical studentor vise versa ...... i R50.00

(I) By a medical or dental student for changing such registration to registration as a dentalor medical student orvise versa...... _...... R25.00

(m) By a medical practitioner or dentist for the registration ofa speciality or sub-

(n) By a practitioner for the registration of an additional qualification ...... R55.00

3. The fees payable under theAct for the restoration of a name to a registershall be as follows as from30 June 2001:

(a) The restoration fee payable by a practitioner if he or she applies for the restoration of his or her name to a register fromwhich it was erased - STAATSKOERANT, 22 JUNIE 2001 No. 22390 5

(i) under section 19(l)(a), (b) or (d) of the Act -

(aa) within a period of six months after the erasure date, shall be equivalent to two (2) times the applicable annual fee for that specific year, plus the outstanding fee or fees;

(bb) after a period of more than six months had exQired since the erasuredate, shall be equivalent to ten (IO) timesthe applicable annual feefor that specific year, plus the outstandingfee or fees;

(ii) under section 19(l)(c) of the Act, shall be half of the applicable annual fee for that specific year.

(b) By a practitioner for the restoration of his or her name to a register from which it was erased in terms of section42 or 51 ...... : ...... R150.00

(c) By a practitioner for the restoration of his or her speciality or subspeciality, where applicable, 'or an additional qualificationin terms of section3544) ...... R50.00

(d) By a practitionerother than a medical practitioner .or a dentist,for the restoration of his or her additional category or categories per category...... R25.00

4. The fees payable in terms of section 23 for the issuing of certificates shall be as follows as from 1 April 2001 :

(a) By an intern in medicine, an intern-psychologist or any practitioner for the issuing of -

(i) a certificateof status ...... RI14.00

(ii)a certified extract from the registeror a certificate signed by the registrar, or a duplicate registration certificate...... R114.00

(b) By any student registrable under the Act or a studen:-intern for the issuing of a certified extract from the registeror a certificate signed by the registrar, or a duplicateregistration certificate ...... R50.00

5. The fees prescribed herein include value-added tax.

6. Government Notice No. R.1569 of 28 November 1997, as amended by Government NoticeNo. R.261 of 5 March 1999, is hereby repealed.
