46 47 The Isle of Harris Mountain Festival was created in 2011 to highlight the opportunities to enjoy outdoor pursuits on the Islands' incredible land and seascapes. By staging the Mountain Festival in September we hope to attract more visitors to the island and extend the season.

Every year the festival includes taster sessions in various sports. Encouraging people to have a go, safe in the knowledge that quality equipment and fully qualified instruction will be provided. So far we have had sports such as surfing, mountain biking and sea kayaking.

A programme of walks hosted by experienced guides is organised to accommodate and challenge all skill levels. For those aiming to build their confidence and abilities there are hill and mountain skill courses.
