Parent/Student Handbook Tumwater School District 2021-22 Parent/Student Handbook Tumwater School District 2021-22 Continuous Student Learning in a Caring, Engaging Environment IMPORTANT INFORMATION ENCLOSED Please save this document This information can also be accessed on our website at www.tumwater.k12.wa.us COVID Safety Plan As we prepare to start school, these important safety plans are in place to ensure a safe learning environment for our students and staff. We will begin the 2021-22 school year fully open and providing full time in-person learning. Please review these plans with your family as you prepare to return to school: Health Screenings – Families are required to screen their child(ren) at home each school day before they leave for school for any COVID-related symptoms. Symptoms include: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle/body aches, headache, new loss of taste/smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea/vomiting, and diarrhea. If your child has any of these symptoms, please keep them home and consult your health care provider. Face Coverings/Masks – In compliance with the Department of Health (DOH) regulations, all students, staff, and visitors on school campuses and on school busses will be required to wear a mask while inside schools and buses/vans (with the exceptions outlined by the DOH). Sick Room - Each school will have a designated area where sick students can be separated until they can be picked up by an authorized person. At the direction of DOH and L&I, these rooms are designed so all surfaces are wipeable, separations are placed between students, and the health care worker in the room is required to be in full PPE (gown, mask, face shield, and gloves). Hand Washing – Students will be encouraged to wash their hands regularly and/or use hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer will be available in several locations throughout each school. Social Distancing – Schools will practice social distancing, as much as possible, pursuant to Department of Health regulations. Ventilation & Cleaning Plans – Our district facilities have upgraded filtration systems, increased ventilation, and will continue with the enhanced program of cleaning and disinfection in our schools. COVID Symptoms – Students or staff exposed to a positive COVID case or who have symptoms will be required to quarantine per DOH and Thurston County Public Health and Social Services regulations. Those who are fully vaccinated and not experiencing symptoms will not be required to quarantine. COVID Testing – COVID testing will be available for students with symptoms. **These plans were developed following current guidelines and regulations as of July 29, 2021. If regulations change, our plans may be adjusted and we will communicate to families. Parent Handbook - General Information Academic Collaboration Time (ACT) — Early Release Fridays Academic Collaboration Time is a 75-minute early release time every Friday. Teachers use this time to collaborate and review each student’s progress. Every professional in the school engages with colleagues in the ongoing exploration of four crucial questions that drive their work and next steps for their students. What do we want each student to learn? How will we know when each student has learned it? How will we respond when a student experiences difficulty in learning? How will we respond if a student already knows the material? Weekly collaboration time has been valuable as it provides opportunities to design early interventions that will support individual students—from our struggling learners to our high achievers. ACT has also bolstered professional growth through teaming and a shared commitment to academic achievement for ALL students. AHERA—Asbestos Management Plan The Environmental Protection Agency, as part of its regulations of asbestos in schools, asks that districts notify parents, teachers and employee groups that an Asbestos Management Plan has been developed. The Tumwater School District developed a management plan for each of its facilities during the summer/fall of 1988 that is updated every three years. These plans record surveillances, inspections, training for maintenance and custodial staff and summaries of asbestos abatement activities. Each site’s Asbestos Management Plan has been filed with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and is available at each school administration office and the Buildings & Grounds Department, who can be reached by calling 360-709-7725. This notification will be repeated annually. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Individuals with disabilities who may need a modification to participate in programs and/or meetings held in the District should contact the school or district office no later than three (3) days prior to the program/ meeting so that arrangements for modification or accommodations can be made. Assessment Tumwater School District’s comprehensive assessment program provides information on student achievement to students, staff, parents and community members. Students are assessed throughout the school year using a variety of strategies and tools. Staff members use the results to see how well students are mastering state standards or course expectations. Teachers use the data to inform their work as they support the individual needs of students. Washington students are assessed annually

    KBRD Lacey, Washington AM Occupied Bandwidth Proof of Performance April 24, 2014 KBRD, Lacey, Washington, operates with 250 watts daytime only using a non-directional antenna system. KBRD is triplexed on the same antenna system with KLDY, Lacey, Washington, and KGTK, Olympia, Washington. On April 24th, 2014, measurements were made to determine the station’s compliance with section 73.44 of the FCC rules and regulations. A measurement site approximately 1 kiloMeter from the transmitter site was chosen. At this site an Agilent Model E4402B spectrum analyzer (SN: MY44221068) was connected to a model LP-3 (SN: 401) broadband shielded-loop antenna manufactured by Chris Scott & Associates, to observe the radiated signal. The analyzer was setup in the peak mode and a signal was acquired for ten minutes and stored on the instrument’s hard drive for subsequent analysis and for presentation in this report. This was done twice. Once with a frequency span of 5 kHz per division and 300 Hertz resolution bandwidth and once with a frequency span of 20 kHz per division and 1 kHz resolution bandwidth. Measurement data plots are shown on page two of this report. A Potomac Instruments model PI 4100 (SN: 312) was used at the same location to look for spurious emissions beyond 75 kHz from the station’s frequency. Particular attention was paid to possible intermodulation mixes of the three signals. This information is tabulated on page three. A picture of the measurement setup on location is shown on page four. A map of the area showing the transmitter site and the measurement site is shown on page five.
