Ivanna was the top ranked junior and held the number one senior amateur ranking in South Africa for nearly two years before she joined the pro ranks in 2016. She represented South Africa on many occasions and her international highlights include the 27th World Amateur Team Championship in Mexico, two trips to the Junior World Cup in Japan, winning the All-Africa Challenge Trophy in Tunisia for a record 12th time and being presented with a silver medal by His Royal Highness Prince Andrew as the runner-up in the Girl’s Division of the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy. On home soil, the 18-year-old Ruimsig Country Club golfer guided the Ladies Golf Gauteng A-team to victories in the SA Women’s Inter-Provincial and Women’s 72-Hole Championship for two years running in 2015 and 2016. Ivanna had her first taste of the pro ranks as an amateur on the 2016 Sunshine Ladies Tour, where she impressed with four top 10 finishes in five starts. In preparation for her pro debut on the 2017 Sunshine Ladies Tour, she cut her teeth on the country’s premier golf development circuit – the IGT Challenge Tour – where she notched a six place finish in the IGT’s Irene Challenge just two weeks before she tested the waters in the Pink Stig Invitational at Sun City in November. Not surprising, Ivanna banked her first cheque, courtesy of UniMedia Pro, with a third place finish at the Gary Player Country Club. Much was expected from the former amateur star in her pro debut on the Sunshine Ladies Tour and she didn’t disappoint. She opened her account with a tie for fifth in the season-opening SuperSport Ladies Challenge and followed with a joint 14th finish in the SA Women’s Masters and another top 10 in the prestigious SA Women’s Open. Over nine tournaments, Ivanna accumulated earnings of nearly R78 000, She finished 13th in the Chase to the Investec Cup for Ladies and ended the season ranked 14th on the final Order of Merit with six top 10 finishes and a season best performance of joint fourth in the Dimension Data Ladies Challenge in George. Ivanna is a fine example of how we can produce successful sporting icons locally and a great role model for youth and young, aspiring amateurs. As such, she was proud to be part of the first Pink Stig Dream Team during the Sunshine Ladies Tour that promoted and enhanced the development of women’s professional golf. She is well supported by her family, her coach Ashley Roestoff and her peers and she receives a lot of encouragement on the IGT Challenge Tour.     TuksGolf Academy helps Lombard and Stone to excel The coaches at the TuksGolf Academy are certainly doing something right. The results of the South African Open and Joburg Open are testimony to it. Last week Brandon Stone won the SA Open at Glendower Golf Club while on Sunday (17/01) Zander Lombard finished second at the Joburg Open played at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Club. It is interesting to note that Stone is only 22 and that Lombard turned 21 on Monday (18/01). Hopefully this is just the beginning of great things to come. Llewellyn van Leeuwen (head coach at the TuksGolf Academy) boldly predicts Stone has what it takes to become one the best golfers in the world. He should know because he has been coaching Stone from when he was six years old. He also got high regards for Lombard’s golfing abilities. Van Leeuwen ascribes Stone and Lombard’s success to the fact that the various members of the Academy’s coaching staff complement each other in the way things are being done. “There are never any individual decisions. Whenever we work with one specific player we all first get together as a team and work out what is going to be best way forward. So everybody knows exactly what to do so as to help the player to succeed.” Lombard who only turned pro last year has been impressive during the last six weeks managing two top five finishes at European Tour- events. In December he was fourth overall in the Australian Open PGA Tournament at the Gold Coast.

    Media Release For immediate release 29 April 2016 SA golf star Jaco van Zyl to play at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open South African star golfer Jaco van Zyl is the latest addition to the star studded field that will battle it out at this year’s AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, which will be played from 12 – 15 May 2016, at the Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius at Anahita. Playing mostly on the Sunshine Tour, Van Zyl has won 13 Sunshine Tour titles, including a career high four in 2010. He earned a European Tour card at the Qualifying School in 2010, going on to enjoy a stellar first season on the European Tour, with five top-10 placings, and finished 50th on the Race to Dubai. Van Zyl earned a debut in the prestigious Open Championship in 2015 thanks to a fine performance in the Alstom Open de France. “Jaco van Zyl is one of the most exciting golfers to watch at this year’s event, he had a stellar 2015 European Tour campaign that included two second place finishes at the Joburg Open and Turkish Airlines Open, and finished third at the French Open. We are delighted that he will be at the tournament and wish him all the best,” said Ryan Dodds, Chairman of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open Organising Committee. Van Zyl joins an illustrious list of professional golfers who have also been confirmed to participate in this year’s tournament which carries a €1,000,000 prize purse.
