CHAMBER BUSINESS CONNECTION CHAMBER YEAR IN REVIEW Published quarterly by Sherwood Park & District Chamber of Commerce July 11, 2018 Vol. 8 No. 1 COMING EVENTS PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Breakfast Networking As my term as president of the Sherwood Park & District Chamber of Commerce draws to a close, I’ve finally taken a moment to sit Meetings back and reflect on the past year. Only now do I fully realize the Thursdays, 8 am - 9 am scope and immense responsibilities that this position entails. September 6 I think of all the past presidents who volunteered before me and September 13 I now have a greater appreciation of the leadership and vision of September 20 Penny Jennings all who have served in this critical role and have paved the way. September 27 2017 - 18 Chamber President Over the years, we have celebrated our successes and learned from our mistakes but one thing is for certain, this chamber has become one of the Chamber of Commerce strongest and most active chambers in the chamber federation both provincially and federally. I would also like to thank the staff of the Chamber of Commerce; Kara, Allyson, Caroline, Mike, Toni, Jason and our Executive Director, Todd Banks. The board and staff made my year a pleasure to be president and everyone contributed to make our organization stronger! It has been a tremendous opportunity and a great privilege to lead the Chamber in Friday, October 19, 2018 the past year. These Luncheons update our members on current news and events, providing networking opportunities and feature a guest speaker to address current issues or provide local updates. The Chamber Connection is our member directory that lists each of The Sherwood Park & District Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the our member businesses along with their contact information. Each students in the Elk Island School District who took part in the CALM course and year, an updated version of our Chamber Connection is mailed to each attended the Student Skills Portfolio Breakfast held on May 24, 2018. As well, of our members in early January. The publication is also distributed to thank you to our guest speaker Mayor Rod Frank, Strathcona County, our residents of Sherwood Park and Strathcona County via the Sherwood sponsors, and all who have supported the Student Skills Portfolio project! The 2018 Sherwood Park Strathcona County Discover Guide was distributed in conjunction with The Great Canadian Trade Fair & Sale. Copies are distributed within key locations of our community including County Hall, Super 8 Sherwood Park and local businesses. Student Skills Portfolio Sponsors Breakfast Sponsor Office of Mayor Roxanne Carr 2017 Christmas Cash Promotion Chamber 8th Annual Forty nine businesses participated in our Chamber of Commerce 2017 Christmas Cash promotion. This annual promotion takes place 4 weeks Curling Funspiel prior to Christmas, allowing customers of participating businesses to fill out entries for a chance to win the grand prize of $2017. The draw was Twenty Two teams participated in our Chamber made on December 19, 2017 at our Chamber’s Annual Christmas Open Curling Funspiel that was held on February 9, 2018. House and the grand prize winner drawn was Brad Bienert! His winning entry was submitted at Canada Safeway on Fir Street..
