    COLLIER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 2019 - 2020 Work Plan INTRODUCTION The 5-Year District Facilities Work Program is a very important document. The Department of Education, Legislature, Governor's Office, Division of Community Planning (growth management), local governments, and others use the work program information for various needs including funding, planning, and as the authoritative source for school facilities related information. The district's facilities work program must be a complete, balanced capital outlay plan that is financially feasible. The first year of the work program is the districts capital outlay budget. To determine if the work program is balanced and financially feasible, the "Net Available Revenue" minus the "Funded Projects Costs" should sum to zero for "Remaining Funds". If the "Remaining Funds" balance is zero, then the plan is both balanced and financially feasible. If the "Remaining Funds" balance is negative, then the plan is neither balanced nor feasible. If the "Remaining Funds" balance is greater than zero, the plan may be feasible, but it is not balanced. As we begin the 2020- 21 school year, vast changes have occurred due to Covid-19. The student experience is going to be different whether you chose for your child to attend school physically or virtually. Our teachers have worked very diligently to provide quality instruction regardless of your child’s learning delivery choice. Students must follow all safety guidelines while they are on campus. Masks are a requirement as we all look out to protect one another. I wear my mask to protect you, while you wear a mask to protect me will be a common theme. I want to personally thank all of you for your support as we all will have to work together to provide the safest learning environment for all of our students. I hope that at some point soon we will all be able to cheer in the stands at one of our sporting events, listen to a concert, watch a play in our auditorium, or shake hands and have a conversation at an Open House or Curriculum Night. There are some new additions and faces that you will see on campus or online this year. Our students are taking on a new role of being a student during a pandemic, yet they have continued to persevere. Our students continue to follow the protocols set forth by the county with grace and as an administrative team, we could not be more proud. Covid-19 has had an impact on our school, but our students continue to follow all safety precautions that are asked of them. Our students have been wearing their masks in class and while on campus, washing their hands or using hand sanitizer frequently, and trying to social distance to the best of their ability in the classroom and at lunch. As a parent of a high school student and as a principal, I do understand that there is always a risk that my child or your child could be exposed to a student or adult who tests positive for Covid-19. If that is the case, we may have to quarantine a student for up to 14 days depending if the child could have been exposed to the virus by being within 6 feet of the individual who tested positive for a timeframe of 15 minutes or longer.

As a proud Shark parent myself, I am amazed of the contributions and accomplishments of our students to make Gulf Coast the best high school. Thank you parents for endlessly supporting your child’s academics as well as extracurricular activities. Now that we are in the home stretch of the school year, please keep pushing your child to achieve. During this last quarter, your Sharks will all be knee deep in term papers, benchmark assessments, FSA exams, Industry Certifications, AP and AICE exams, End-of-course(EOC) exams, and finals. Add in prom; spring sports and football, remaining plays by our drama department and concerts performed by the band, orchestra and chorus; Senior Safari; and, ultimately, graduation, and it’s easy to see how busy your child’s life can be. High school is an awesome two million minutes of your child’s life, but it can be very stressful. If you notice that your child is struggling or having difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s guidance counselor or teachers and ask for help.     NEWS & Fall 2014 Views Golf Tournament brings in nearly $500,000 for college scholarships Nearly a half-million dollars was raised for scholarships at the Founders Fund 2014 Ed Brennan Memorial Golf Tournament and Banquet. The fundraiser, held at The Club Pelican Bay on April 7, 2014, had more than 180 golfers and over 250 for the evening banquet and auction. Auctioneer Scott Robertson energized the crowd and brought in over $200,000 during the live auction and ‘raise the paddle for scholarships’ portion of the evening. The ‘Paris to Normandy’ Ama Waterways River Cruise, donated by Preferred Travel of Naples, brought in $15,000 alone. The Founders Fund has awarded over $2.8 million dollars in scholarships to Collier County students since its inception in 1991 and now has a scholarship commitment of over $200,000 annually.
