This position reports directly to the Director, Resurgo Place, Culture and Heritage and located at Resurgo Place.

The position of Heritage Development Officer ‐ Community Relations is part of the team within the Culture and Heritage Department, which focuses on building community partnerships, operating municipal heritage facilities, delivering arts, culture and heritage programs and services as well as enhancing the visitor experience.

The successful candidate must have the following minimum qualifications:  High School graduate or equivalency.  Must have a university degree in the areas of Arts, Business, Marketing, Communications or other related disciplines.  Must have practical work experience of three (3) years directly related to the area of Arts, Culture and Heritage, marketing and communications or community development.  Knowledge and understanding of Heritage, Arts and Culture in the area.  Must be familiar with the history, geography and social culture of the Greater Moncton area and demonstrate public speaking ability.  The successful candidate must be self‐motivated and show capability in program coordination and administration.  Ability to facilitate meetings and groups through demonstrated experience.  Skills in marketing, public and media relations are required.  The ability to communicate (oral and written) in both official languages is a requirement (English and French). As per provincial language proficiency standards, fluency is determined to be at the Advanced (3+) level.  The position requires strong communication skills, both written and oral, as well as self‐motivation, good organizational skills and an ability to work in a team environment.  Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 ’s driver’s license.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office, as well as database programs.  Work requires significant internal and external contact. The candidate must be able to present him or herself and communicate in an effective and professional manner.  The incumbent must be able to problem solve and manage multiple assignments.  The position is responsible for supervising volunteers, students and casual staff who are involved with projects or activities associated with heritage programming, communications, and marketing initiatives.  This position operates in a high paced team environment.  As the incumbent represents the City of Moncton, the position should be able to function with minimal direct supervision; therefore the individual must take initiative, and be able to demonstrate a high degree of maturity, accountability and professionalism.
