September Sammy Vomá čka Sammy, 1946 in Tschechien geboren, lebt seit 1970 in Deutschland. Oktober 2008)! An unknown, starving band named Thin Lizzy (which consisted of Bell, Downey & Lynott) were offered a lump sum of money to record some Deep Purple songs. (The album contains also a few non-DP tracks.) They did - with the help from two Irish guys. The album came out in early 1973. It wasn't a success. In February, Thin Lizzy had a top ten hit with a single of their own. Read more about it here. • Joe Lynn Turner
JOE LYNN TURNER Joe Lynn Turner, is an American singer, known for his works with hard rock bands Deep Purple & Rainbow. Career In a career that spans nearly 30 years and includes over 60 album credits, Joe Lynn Turner ("JLT") remains one of rock and roll's most distinctive, soulful and expressive vocalists. Born August 2, 1951 in Hackensack, New Jersey (U.S.A.), he played the accordion as a child, grew up with an appreciation for classic Rhythm and Blues (R&B) and became an accomplished guitarist in his early teens. In fact, his first band, Filet of Soul, featured singer J.T. Taylor who would later have success with Kool and the Gang. While in high school, Joe formed Ezra, performing original material and cover songs by artists who were a great influence on him: Jimi Hendrix, Free and Deep Purple. In 1976, JLT enjoyed his first taste of national success with Fandango, a band described as an eclectic mix of R&B, pop, country, jazz and melodic rock. Turner sang and played guitar on all of the band's four albums. Fandango toured with numerous artists including The Allman Brothers, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Beach Boys and Billy Joel. After Fandango split, in the first of two incredible twists of Fate, JLT received a phone call from legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. Turner's work with Fandango prompted an audition and Blackmore was so impressed that he immediately enlisted Joe in Rainbow, a band that he formed after he left Deep Purple. Ironically, Joe spent his formative years covering Deep Purple songs and now he found himself fronting a band with two former members: Blackmore and Roger Glover.

Doogie White (Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock, ex-Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow) on vocals „UNDER THE NEON” Release date: 18th September 2015 • Label: MMS • Distribution: Alive AG EAN: 4039967008220 Classic hard rock in the style of Deep Purple & Rainbow with a dis- tinctive Stratocaster guitar sound and distorted Hammond organ. Rock legends like Jon Lord and Ian Paice from Deep Purple had several concerts together with the band and were quite taken with their musicality and power. After building up a reputation as a Deep Purple Tribute Band, they established their name as an ori- ginal band with their successful debut album „The Stranger Within“ in 2011. With „Under the Neon“, Demon’s Eye will now release their second album, once again featuring Doogie White , former singer of Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow and current lead vocalist with Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock . Doogie White: „“Under the Neon“ is a high energy album full of exciting and vibrant songs complimented with dynamic perfor- mances from everyone. I think it’s just great! Difficult 2nd album? Not at all. The band have breathed brand new life into their clas- sic sound. Demon’s Eye play music that is based on the greatest era of rock music: the seventies. It‘s traditional British heavy rock music done by Germans… and a Scotsman (laughter). It’s for peop- le who love that classic sound where bands experimented and ex- plored with their music and delivered outstanding yet unpretentious musicianship.

Welcome to the first installment of COAST TO COAST for 1998. I even remembered to put 1998 in the template. :) As you all know, Glenn has had a number of recent appearances, and they are reviewed in this issue. Plus, we have more news from Lennart, more transcriptions from Damien, stuff from Bill, and of course, submissions from all our other members. Hopefully, this will be a great issue! It is certainly a big issue, clocking in around 90k or so. Also, the poll responses are at the bottom, so you can look to see what other readers felt were the best albums of 1997! Finally, I have a slightly new look inside the issue. I made my section headers 79 characters wide, and I created them with the ##### symbols instead of =====. Also, the dividers (between individual submissions) have been switched from "-END-" to the ##### symbols. I think this makes each individual item more distinct from the others. Tell me what you think! Well, here we go again, with COAST TO COAST #32. Take care! Lewis ############################################################################### SUBMISSIONS ############################################################################### From: Lennart Hedenstrom <[email protected]> Subject: CTC: News roundup Hey all, There is not a lot of news to report this time.
