With a tight budget, the Prince William County School system had no available money to construct a suitable facility when Potomac opened at its current lo- cation in January of 1982. That left only one option. “We had to go and do it,” said Brenda Gardziel, wife of Jerry Gardziel, Potomac’s head baseball coach at the time. “We had a close-knit group of people who came together.” Potomac opened its current field in the spring of 1982.
