A “Battle of the Bands” fundraiser to benefit veterans, organized by Wall Street Rocks, drew a standing-room-only crowd to NYC’s The Cutting Room on April 18. The opening act, Sound Judgment, is comprised of Matt “The Mattch” Daus, former (and still longest serving) TLC Chair on lead guitar; Nora Constance “Connie Cool” Marino, current NYC TLC Board Mem- ber/Commissioner on lead vocals; Jason “J-Rock” Mischel, former Commissioner of NYC Mayor’s Office of People with Disabilities on electric bass; and John “Johnny Stixx” Morris on drums.

Sound Judgement played originals and hard rock covers, including Pat Benatar’s Heartbreaker, Metallica’s Sandman, Alice in Chains’ Man in the Box, The Cult’s L’il Devil and Billy Squier’s Lonely is the Night.

In addition to the veterans in attendance, the Taxi and For-hire industry was well represented –concertgoers included Berj Harotounian, Ira Goldstein, Vito Pitta, “Taxi Dave” Pollack, Neil Greenbaum, Diana Clement, Eric Rothman, Tarek Mallah, Tom O’Shea, Steve Jason, Sal Chierico and Sasha Ozeran.

“This was a kick-off Battle of the Bands, organized by Wall Street Rocks as a non-profit fundraiser to raise money for charities benefitting veterans,” explained Daus. “The band will be playing out regularly and is next scheduled to play a show with a band called ‘Perp Walk,’ which feature NY1 Reporter Roger Clark on drums… date and location to be announced in the Black Car News.”
