Travel & Hotels in Holland [September 2014]

Hotels and B&B’s in the area Zutphen is a small town [approx. 45.000 inh.] and reasonably quiet. It is busy in the tourist season, the summer, and some weekends in spring and autumn.

Camping: please simply google “Zutphen campings” to find a list of these. To travel from the venue to the campsite you need a car. For the few that might consider using a campervan, there are several places where these are allowed to park and stay. The ones at the IJsselkade are right by the venue.

Travel Coming from abroad and flying in, the usual route will take you into Airport, Schiphol. General information on the airport can be found at http://www.schiphol.com/. From there you take the train heading east, direction Enschede or . It’s all in all about an hour and a half to get to Zutphen. If you’re in the train that ends in Amersfoort, change for . By car: Zutphen is located in the east of Holland, an hour east of , and half an hour’s drive north of . There’s is, except on Sundays no free parking in the old city center of Zutphen. Outside of the old center it’s free parking. On class days, you are allowed to park at no charge in the venue’s parking lot. There’s also free parking on the north side of the train station, in the industrial zone.

Parking On the map below the options for free as well as for paid parking are indicated in orange. Free parking is in the area on the other side of the river. Paid parking is in front of the big supermarket Albert Heijn.

Eating out and shopping The venue is at walking distance from the old city center, as well as just a stone’s throw away from a nice little river to stroll by and sit and relax during breaks. For lunch and dinner there are plenty of places to eat or to just have a drink. The red colored area is the old town area of Zutphen, with the shops. The streets in green below are where there’s places to eat. All of these are at walking distance from the venue. The big block in yellow on the map is the biggest supermarket in town, the Albert Heijn.
