Liège Le Mot du Président J’espère que les vacances se sont bien déroulées et que vous avez bien profité des rares moments de soleil, du moins en Belgique. C’est le moment de faire le point sur la situation de la Section provinciale de Liège et sur les projets de cette fin de second semestre 2017. Au 31 juillet, nous comptions 1132 membres adhérents et 90 membres sympa - thisants. Ce qui n’est pas mal, nous conservons pratiquement le même nombre de membres qu’en 2016 à la même époque. Cette année, c’est la Section natio - nale IPA Belgique qui a envoyé le dernier rappel à plus de 200 membres qui se sont pratiquement tous mis en ordre de cotisation. Encore nos excuses aux membres qui avaient acquitté cette cotisation et qui ont quand même reçu ce rappel. La tenue à jour des membres n’est pas une tâche facile. C’est pour cette raison que nous insistons sur le fait de nous communiquer TOUT changement d’adresse, de n° de télé - phone, gsm, adresse E-Mail, afin que nous puissions rester en contact. Je me permets d’insister à nouveau sur l’affiliation de nouveaux membres qui est l’affaire de tous au sein de notre grande famille de l’IPA. En effet, chaque membre a le droit d’affilier, non seulement des membres de la magistrature, des policiers, des membres des TEC, de SECURAIL, en activité ou pensionné…mais il peut également parrainer des membres de la société civile, des amis pour lesquels il se porte garant. En fin de brochure, vous trouverez un formulaire d’affiliation. Sur demande, nous vous enverrons un bulletin d’affiliation d’un membre sympathisant. N’hésitez pas, lancez –vous, c’est ainsi que notre belle famille IPA s’agrandira. Comme il manque des délégués dans certaines zones de police, si vous aviez un peu de temps à nous consacrer, nous avons besoin de vous. N’hésitez pas à nous appeler pour avoir des renseignements com - plémentaires. Nous recherchons également des policiers en activité pour étoffer notre Conseil provincial d’administration. Faites-vous connaître, nous avons besoin de vous ! Le repas des délégués aura lieu le samedi 25 novembre au restaurant «Manières de Goûts» à Barchon. Chers et précieux amis délégués, merci de bien vouloir retenir cette date dans votre agenda. Côté activités, la pétanque du 16 septembre aura sans doute déjà eu lieu quand vous lirez ces lignes. Le voyage en Bretagne est « sold out » et se déroulera du 27.09 au 02.10.2017. La marche et barbecue en Fagnes se profilent à l’horizon, ce sera pour le 14 octobre 2017. Il reste quelques places pour notre voyage en Ecosse – Irlande qui se déroulera en deux groupes, du 27.05 au 07.06.2018 pour le premier et du 28.05 au 08.06.2018 pour le second. En 2018, notre association liégeoise comptera 60 ans d’existence. Dans cette revue et sur notre site Internet, vous trouverez l’invitation et le programme des réjouissances. Because you’re developing so quickly yourself, you assume your environment is static and will carry on pretty much the same as you grow into it. This is true for everyone everywhere, naturally. Most old people can, if suitably primed, talk indefinitely about the changes they’ve seen in their lifetimes, even if they’ve never moved from the place where they were born; but some environments change more drastically than others, even without a war to spur things along. One such was Northern Rhodesia in southern Africa in the 1950s and 60s. As white kids growing up then we had no way of knowing, as our parents almost certainly did, just how fragile and transient our conditions were – how soon and how thoroughly the country would become Zambia, with a completely different social order and set of faces in command. The country of course is still there. In many ways its urban centres now look remarkably unchanged due to relative poverty. The houses we grew up in, many of the streets, landmark buildings and landscapes we were familiar with are still recognizably the same, much more so in fact than in many parts of Europe. What has vanished is the web of British colonial superstructure into which I and my siblings were born as privileged members, brief gentry on the cusp of a perfectly justified and largely peaceful revolution that was soon to brush us aside.
