Greek God, Goddess, and Hero Research

In a group of no more than three people which I will assign, you will create a poster about a Greek god, goddess, or hero using the details from the research I will provide you.

Directions:

 After reading about your god, goddess, or hero, please PARAPHRASE (put in your own words) or SUMMARIZE (condense and explain) what you find.

 You MUST cite the information you are using by conforming to MLA standards. o Example: Before the “gods” there existed a race of beings called Titans who ruled the universe for thousands of years (Hamilton 24).

 Please include: o What they are the god, goddess, or hero of (This should be prominent.) . God example: God of fire . Hero Example: King of Sparta and hero of the Trojan War

o A short paragraph explaining the story behind the god, goddess, or hero (like a biography) . For gods/goddesses consider:  How were they born/who were their parents?  How did they get their kingdoms/domains?  Why are they the god/goddess of their particular domain/kingdom?  Any other interesting stories about them . For heroes consider:  How were they born/who were their parents?  How did they become a hero?  In what wars/battles have they fought?  What journeys, challenges, or obstacles have they faced?  Any other interesting stories about them

o Symbols associated with them, if any

o Roman name, if they have one (Hint: All of the gods do except for Apollo.)

o At least THREE interesting facts about them

o MLA Citation

 The following gods/goddesses and heroes are all potential topics for study:

 You must draw and color any symbols they may have. Please write all the information about them on the front of the poster.

 You will be presenting this information to the class. Everyone in your group will need a section to present.
