Pastor’s Page Dear brothers and sisters in , The Most Holy Trinity Father, Son and Spirit When we think of the word Spirit can we think of something lively? A sort of a flow of living water; a cycle race rather than a traffic jam. The flow of life in us rather than the ways we block life. It is the spirit of God whom we call Father, Son or Christ and Spirit. We live in that sort of love. The church is called to be that sort of community. The trinity can make God totally distant. But that is not . He is the one who gets right into life, bringing God into humanity as one of us. Jesus talked so much about farming, weddings, death, illness, joys, trust, creation, nature, breakfasts, gardens, dinners; he is the God of the table more than the God of the temple. His spirit flows in all of creation, love, suffering and joy; He finds us in all things. We need that big view of God. He makes everything sacred. Even the name Father, Son and spirit. Our call is to flow with him, to go with the flow of God’s Spirit. We are the flow of God in the world. We become what we receive – the love of the Trinity in the world. We become like Christ himself as we receive this bread of life, called to be his witnesses. By what we say and do, in all we are. Give thanks to the Lord for his presence in the Eucharist. Father, Son and Spirit, enfold me in love, the love of your eternal life. (Donal Neary SJ, Reflections) Join to pray the Rosary on May 31, 2021 6:00 PM At the request of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, during the month of May all Catholics across the globe were praying the Rosary for an end to the pandemic. The intention also includes praying for the many people who have been touched by the virus and continue to suffer its consequences: from our deceased brothers and sisters to the families who are living the pain and uncertainty of tomorrow; from the sick to the doctors, scientists, nurses who are engaged on the front lines of this battle; from the volunteers to all the professionals who have rendered their precious service in favor of others; from the people in mourning and pain to those who, with a simple smile and a kind word, have brought comfort to those in need; from those — especially women — who have suffered violence within the walls of their homes due to forced closure, to those who wish to enthusiastically resume the rhythms of daily life. As we come to the end of this Month, on Monday May 31st, on the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, please join me in praying the Rosary at 6:00 PM at Holy Spirit Church. May our Blessed Mother, welcome us under her mantle and protect us, sustain us in the hour of trial and enkindle in our hearts the light of hope for the future. May God continue to bless our parish, families, friends and the community and may He keep all of us in His loving care. With love and prayers,

HOLY SPIRIT 2021 VIRTUAL PENTECOSTAL JOURNEY HOLY SPIRIT 2021 VIRTUAL PENTECOSTAL JOURNEY APRIL 4 – MAY 23 APRIL 4 – MAY 23

For the final week of our journey, April 26th – May 23rd , a total of 155 hours were prayed for our parishes and missions of the Diocese of Marquette, bringing our total to 952 hours prayed. Thanks to everyone for your support of this Mission A note from the meeting with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski This past Tuesday evening, we held a special meeting with Fr. Jamie Ziminski (pastor of All Parish, Gladstone), the facilitator of the Diocesan Parish Planning Team. Doerfler appointed this team to assist parishes and pastors around the diocese during time of transition and planning. As you may already know, our parish and Holy Redeemer Parish are about to begin a period of transition and planning ourselves. Fr. Jamie was here to respond to questions and to help explain the reasons for the changes to our parish recently announced. On July 1st, Fr. Jubish will be leaving Holy Redeemer to become the new pastor of Resurrection Parish in Hancock. Because there was no priest in our diocese ready to serve as a pastor here at Holy Redeemer, Bishop Doerfler was able to initiate arrangements for a priest to come from India to serve as associate, with Fr. Abraham serving as the We, the Holy Spirit Parish Family pastor of both parishes. This new priest from India was to serve at Holy Redeemer for about a year or so, until there extend our prayerful sympathy and was a critical need somewhere in the diocese. At that time, our community would reduce the number of priests condolences to the family and friends of serving by one, leaving one priest to serve both Holy Redeemer and Holy Spirit. Having a second priest serving our Colleen Dempski who is called Home to the parish would give our parishioners time to plan for the day when one priest would be shared by two parishes. Lord. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and Knowing that the new priest from India would not arrive in the U.S. until this fall, the Bishop arranged to have Fr. let perpetual light shine upon her. May her Tim Ekaitis travel from Marquette to Holy Redeemer to celebrate the Mass on weekends. Fr. Tim was able to do this souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, because he begins a new assignment in Marquette, serving on the Bishop’s staff, allowing him to be available to us Through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen until mid-September. All this was a good plan until the last few weeks. Due to a dramatic surge in coronavirus infections in India, the borders in India are no longer open, and the U.S. consulates have been closed. This means there will be a significant delay in the new priest being allowed to travel to the U.S. to begin serving our parishes. The situation is so grave, we cannot really predict when he will be allowed to travel. Also, there are no other available priests in our diocese. Due to these factors not in our control, it is imperative that we begin working with Holy Redeemer Parish, planning for the day that only one priest will be available to serve both our parishes. Bishop Doerfler will send Fr. Tim to serve us until mid-September, so we are blessed to have time to discuss the situation, bring it to prayer, and make RCIA The Catholic Diocese of Marquette presents a PILGRIMAGE TO PORTUGAL, SPAIN AND sound recommendations. Avila, Cathedral of Burgos, Monastery of Santa María Real de las Huelgas, Lourdes, Grotto of It may seem like a daunting task, but it is truly the same challenge the Church faces in every age: how do disciples Massabielle, Manresa, Barcelona, La Sagrada Familia, and more. today advance the mission of Christ in their corner of the world? We have many reasons to be confident that this will all work out for good. First, we have many faith-filled and dedicated parishioners in both our parishes. As long as we do not forget that we are all on the same side, we can work together to accomplish so much more than we Tentative travel dates: April 18 - 29, 2022. could ever imagine. Second, Fr. Abraham is experienced in helping parishes through transitions Jackie Gretzinger at (906) 863-7460 / [email protected] (in his last assignment, he successfully assisted three parishes and two missions join together as one community!). Finally, we cannot forget that we are doing all this so that Christ will be known and experienced in our families and community.

For the mission of Christ to succeed in Menominee county, we need vibrant Catholic parishes, for the parish is the really the heart of that mission in a community. The way we respond to these new challenges in the next few months will determine whether our parish will become weaker or stronger. There is no doubt that it is the Lord’s will that we become stronger… so all we have to do is be open, faithful, generous, and dedicate ourselves to cooperate with his will. 2nd Grade Faith FEATURED ADVERTISER OF THE WEEK Formation in person classes 4:30 pm — 6:00 pm Every Wednesday at holy Spirit church in the Father pat conference room june 2, 2021
