The following is information regarding the summer offseason as we prepare for main camp in August: Summer workout opportunities with Coach Carrier: These will count towards your 20 mandatory workouts. If Coach Carrier cannot make it to a training session he will communicate that ahead of time but as a team you can still meet up and run drills. Get out to train together as much as possible outside of these times as well. Be sure to get in the weight room! - All workout opportunities will take place on the Football Field from 6:30pm-8:30pm Wednesday July 10th Sunday July 14th Wednesday July 17th Sunday July 21st Wednesday July 24th Sunday July 28th Wednesday July 31st Wednesday August 7th Sunday August 11th Wednesday August 14th Sunday August 18th Summer Football Camp opportunities (register online): It is important for players to attend summer camps, not only does this develop their skills and improve our team, it also gives you an opportunity to be noticed by Post-Secondary programs. Search the following camps online and see if you can find a way to attend one of them. - Saskatoon Hilltops Summer Camp @ Hilltops Practice Field on Kilburn Avenue. o August 6th – 9th, 2019 - University of Regina Rams – Rams High School Camp @ Rams Training Facility (U of R Campus) o July 22nd – July 25, 2019 - University of Saskatchewan Huskies – Huskie Sport Camp @ Griffiths Stadium (U of S Campus) o Junior Camp (Grades 7-9): July 22-26th 2019 o Senior Camp (Grades 10-12): July 29th- August 2nd 2019 Main Camp: - Registration and Combine Testing: Wednesday August 21st o Registration begins at 6pm in the gymnasium o Testing begins at 6:15pm - Practices begin: Thursday August 22nd o Practices will take place at 6pm-8pm until the beginning of school starts and then practice will take begin at 4pm Tisdale Middle & Secondary School Team Communication: - Any switches to workouts or main camp will be communicated on the team app. Or if any players need to get a hold of the coaches, please message them on there. - Download Heja *(The app has updated and has given us a new team code)* o Team code: EQ-456921 Reminder of Contract Requirements for the 2019 Season: 1.) I will only be able to miss two (2) practices with no excuse and no contact to coaches before being released from the team. On the third absence I will no longer be a part of the football program. 2.) I will only be able to miss four (4) practices with an excuse and communication before being released from the team. On the fifth absence I will no longer be a part of the football program. - Under certain circumstances, absences will be allowed (i.e., family emergencies, serious sickness, etc.) 3.) If I get injured during the season and am unable to participate in practice I will still attend practice and wear my practice jersey. I will participate as much as I can in reference to my injury. If I do not attend while injured the same rules for missing practices in requirement 2 and 3 still apply. 4.) I will show that the football program is the class of the school. I promise to make the school and the community proud of our team. In doing so, I commit to showing respect to everyone on and off the field. THE ORIGINS OF THE HUSKIES RUN DEEP: 1909 MEN’S HOCKEY 1911 MEN’S SOCCER WOMEN’S HOCKEY 1912 MEN’S FOOTBALL 1915 MEN’S BASKETBALL 1929 MEN’S AND WOMEN’S WRESTLING WOMEN’S BASKETBALL 1949 WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL Green and white were established as MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY the official colours of USask sports in 1964 1909, and back then the teams were referred to as “the green and white.” 1967 MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD The name “Huskies” first appeared in a September 1932 article in The WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY StarPhoenix and it caught on. Women’s 1971 teams became “Huskiettes” and men were “Huskies.” And our mascot went MEN’S VOLLEYBALL from being an actual husky (1946), 1976 to Hymie the Huskie (1970) to the beloved Howler we know today.
