At Covington’s we grow the top performing varieties which will provide the greatest show of seasonal color. See all of our “Covington’s Grown” bedding plants so you can pick your favorites to design the garden of your dreams. Follow these tips for the best success in growing your bedding plants: 1. Choose flowers according to the amount of sun they will receive. Use “Sun” plants if the area gets sun all afternoon or for 6 or more hours. If your area has only morning sun or is deeply shaded, use “Shade” plants. We have noted the sun or shade preference of each flower to make it easy for you to pick the right varieties for your garden. 2. Before planting your flowers, amend the soil in your flower beds to add nutrients and improve aeration. Do this by mixing compost and expanded shale (already pre-mix in our Covington’s Soil Builder) in to the soil. This will break up the clay and give you a soil that is fluffy and easy to plant in. 3. Fertilize your flowers with Covington’s Flower & Garden 18-6-12 slow release plant food to keep plants healthy and promote more blooms. 4. Top dress your flower beds with a 2” layer of mulch to help retain water and give your landscape a beautiful finished look. 5. It belongs to family Verbenaceae, commonly known as unnichedi. The dye has good scope in the commercial dyeing of cotton in textile industry. In the present investigation, bleached cotton fabrics were dyed with different chemical mordants. Dyeing was carried out by pre-mordanting, post mordanting and simultaneous mordanting. Fastness properties of the dyed samples were determined by standard IS methods. The dyed samples have shown good washing, light and rubbing fastness properties. The various colour changes were measured by computer colour matching software. The range of colour developed on dyed samples were evaluated in terms of (L*a*b*) CIELAB coordinates and the dye absorption on the cotton was studied by using K/S values. An ICPMS study was also performed for the dye extract. This study has proved that, heavy metals such as antimony, arsenic, cadmium and lead were not present in the dye extract.
