The first phase began with the founding of the International Badminton Federation in 1934 and 17 badminton associations before the Second World War. The second phase began after the War with the first Thomas Cup contest won by Malaya in 1949. From 1946 to 1979, Malaysia won the Cup 4 times and Indonesia, 7 times. In 1979 twenty-six countries competed for the Cup. The third phase began with China's membership into the IBF in 1981. • Olympic Badminton Teams Disqualified
Olympic Badminton Teams Disqualified By Ryan Yuen August 3rd, 2012 Four female badminton pairs, the top seeds from China, one from Indonesia and two from South Korea, have been ejected from the Olympics for trying to lose matches on Tuesday. They were kicked out of the tournament the next day and have been charged with “not using one's best efforts to win a match and conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport,” by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). The players were accused of “not doing their best to win a match and abusing or demeaning the sport” by the BWF so that they could play less challenging opponents in future matches. Their continuous serves to the net and returns out of bounds made it apparent that all four pairs were not trying their best. Spectators replied with boos and downward pointing thumbs, expressing their anger towards the players for their awful performance and sportsmanship. All the players had been Qualified for the Quarterfinals before the matches on Tuesday, not giving them many benefits of winning and making the more favorable choice to seem like losing. China lost the match to South Korea 21-14, 21-11, proving themselves to be the better losers and successfully getting into the less challenging side of the draw to avoid playing China’s number two seeded pair. The Chinese doubles pair gave their apologies for their actions after their disqualification. "I think firstly we should apologize to the Chinese audience, because we did not demonstrate the Olympic spirit.

  • BAB I PENDAHULUAN A. Latar Belakang Masalah Olahraga

  • History of Badminton
Facts and Records History of Badminton In 1873, the Duke of Beaufort held a lawn party at his country house in the village of Badminton, Gloucestershire. A game of Poona was played on that day and became popular among British society’s elite. The new party sport became known as “the Badminton game”. In 1877, the Bath Badminton Club was formed and developed the first official set of rules. The Badminton Association was formed at a meeting in Southsea on 13th September 1893. It was the first National Association in the world and framed the rules for the Association and for the game. The popularity of the sport increased rapidly with 300 clubs being introduced by the 1920’s. Rising to 9,000 shortly after World War Π. The International Badminton Federation (IBF) was formed in 1934 with nine founding members: England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Denmark, Holland, Canada, New Zealand and France and as a consequence the Badminton Association became the Badminton Association of England. From nine founding members, the IBF, now called the Badminton World Federation (BWF), has over 160 member countries. The future of Badminton looks bright. Badminton was officially granted Olympic status in the 1992 Barcelona Games. Indonesia was the dominant force in that first Olympic tournament, winning two golds, a silver and a bronze; the country’s first Olympic medals in its history. More than 1.1 billion people watched the 1992 Olympic Badminton competition on television. Eight years later, and more than a century after introducing Badminton to the world, Britain claimed their first medal in the Olympics when Simon Archer and Jo Goode achieved Mixed Doubles Bronze in Sydney.

Ann Appl Sport Sci 9(3): e1002, 2021. http://www.aassjournal.com; e-ISSN: 2322–4479; p-ISSN: 2476–4981. 10.52547/aassjournal.1002 ORIGINAL ARTICLE 3D Kinematics Analysis of Overhead Backhand and Forehand Smash Techniques in Badminton Agus Rusdiana * Sports Science Study Program, Faculty of Sports and Health Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, West Java, Indonesia. Submitted 04 April 2021; Accepted in final form 28 June 2021. ABSTRACT Background. This study aims to analyze the movement of backhand and forehand smash stroke techniques in badminton in three dimensions using a kinematics approach. Objectives. The obtained results were analyzed using a descriptive and quantitative approach. Methods. Furthermore, 24 male badminton players from the university student activity unit with an average age of 19.4 ± 1.6 years, height of 1.73 ± 0.12 m, and weight of 62.8 ± 3.7 kg participated in this study. The study was conducted using 3 Panasonic Handycams, a calibration set, 3D Frame DIAZ IV motion analysis software, and a speed radar gun. Results. The data normalization from the kinematics values of the shoulder, elbow, and wrist joint motion was calculated using the inverse dynamics method. In addition, a one-way ANOVA test was used to identify differences in the kinematics of motion between two different groups. The obtained results showed that the speed of the shuttlecock during the forehand smash was greater than that during the backhand smash. In the maximal shoulder external rotation phase, two variables were identified to have the best results during the forehand smash, i.e., the velocity of shoulder external rotation and wrist palmar flexion.

  • BAB I PENDAHULUAN 1.1 Latar Belakang Bulutangkis Adalah Salah
