Notification No-14218/R-Dt- 27.03.1993. The geographical area of new Nayagarh district is 3890 Sq.kms with a population of 9,63,124 having 5,02,819 male and 4,60,305 female as per 2011 census. The district consist of one Sub-Division namely Nayagarh, eight Tahasils, eight Blocks, five NAC, twelve police stations, fifty RI Circles, 196 GPs & 1702 Revenue villages. This district having 1,36,390 S.C, 58,691 S.T & 7,68,043 others. ACCOMMODATION After bifurcation from puri District Vide Govt in Revenue Dept. Notification No- 14218/R.Dt-27.03.1993, the district of Nayagarh was started functioning w.e.f 01.04.1993. The Office of the Collector, Nayagarh was functioning in the Sub-Collector building up to 04.01.2011. Now it is functioning in his own building from 05.01.2011. Due to in-sufficient space in the existing building some offices like D.I.P.R.O, special Land Acquisition & Excise are functioning in the rented houses. Charge Sri Arindam Dakua, IAS is now working as Collector & District Magistrate, Nayagarh w.e.f. 20.05.2016 prior to him Sri Hemanta Kumar Padhi, OAS (SAG) was the Collector & District Magistrate from 25.06.2014 to 20.05.2016. Sri Prasanta Kumar Rath, OAS (S) is now working as ADM, Nayagarh w.e.f 07.06.2017 prior to him Sri Nrusingha Charan Swain, OAS (S) was the ADM from 09.05.2016 to 07.06.2017. Sri Jitendra Kumar Sahu, OAS-I (SB) is working as Sub-Collector, Nayagarh w.e.f 07.06.2017. There are nine nos of OAS & ORS officers working as officer -in-charge to look after different sections. Circular No-28594/Rdt-19.06.97, Govt. have fixed periodically of inspection of offices by different rank of officers. Sri Bikash Chandra Mohapatra, IAs., RDC(CD), Cuttack has inspected the Nayagarh, Collectorate on 26.12.2014. The inspection note reveled vide L.No-3999/Dt-20.03.15 and the compliance of the inspection report submitted to RDC (CD) Cuttack vide L.No-2257/Dt- 01.08.2015. There is a parallel study of a similar sample in Bolangir District (NRI Report No. 2715), and this summary is common to both. These all help to illustrate both the personal struggles of many of the people in the District, and also some of the more general issues affecting the potential of non-farm activities and income-generating activities (IGAs). The report is part of a study of the factors that can contribute to the expansion of the non-farm rural economy in India, which also includes a case study in Madhya Pradesh. The purpose is to identify policy interventions that can expand non-farm activities through the understanding of how to promote peoples’ access to them, and how to provide the governance framework that is most conducive to their promotion.
