About College Advising Corps College Advising Corps works to increase the number of low-income, first-generation college, and underrepresented high school students who enter and complete higher education. To deliver on this mission, we place well-trained, recent college graduates from 25 partner programs as full-time college advisers in our nation’s high schools. Benjamin E. Mays High School Jayme Allen (Ms. Allen): Ms. Allen is very excited to join the Raider family at Benjamin E. Mays High School this year! She is a recent graduate of the University of Alabama and earned a degree in Business Management with a specialization in Human Resources. As a first-generation college student, Ms. Allen knows what it takes to succeed and is ready to help the students at Mays achieve their college-going goals!

Randie Chapman (Mrs. Chapman): Mrs. Chapman attended the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, where she majored in English and Africana Studies. She is a Gates Millennium Scholar and proud College Advising Corps adviser. As a first-generation student, Mrs. Chapman is determined and wants all students to know that they are worthy and capable of fulfilling their postsecondary and future dreams. She is incredibly happy to be a part of the Mays family and looks forward to a productive, college-going, and goal-achieving year!

BEST Academy High School Delisha Hodo (Ms. Hodo): Ms. Hodo, from Manchester, Georgia, is a first-generation college graduate of Georgia Southern University, where she majored in Psychology. After graduation, Ms. Hodo went on to serve in California with City Year San Jose. She decided to return home after her time with City Year to ensure that first-generation students like herself are able to not only afford the college(s) of their choice, but also to navigate the obstacles they may face in the college application and admissions processes. Booker T. Washington High School Blair Johnson (Ms. Johnson): Ms. Johnson is a second-year College Advising Corps adviser at Booker T. Washington High School. She graduated from within the Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Program and majored in Biology. During her time at Washington, she has fallen in love with the student body and fervently works towards their academic and social success. Ms. Johnson aims to ensure that all students receive the resources they need to lead a successful life after graduation. D’Janet Ahyoung (Ms. Ahyoung): Ms. Ahyoung is serving in her second year as a College Advising Corps adviser at Booker T. Washington High School. She is a proud alumna of Spelman College and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society member, and she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and minor in Public Health. Ms. Ahyoung is ecstatic to work with the amazing students at Washington to encourage them to utilize their resources in order to transition into the "best fit" experience after high school. Carver High School Ajahn Richard (Ms. Richard): Ms. Richard is the College Advising Corps adviser at Carver High School. She is a graduate of Georgia State University, where she majored in Sociology. Ms. Richard is the go-to person for helping students prepare for and finalize their future plans upon graduating from Carver High School. This includes applying to and preparing for trade programs, 2-year, and 4-year colleges. Ms. Richard can be found in the College and Career Suite, located in Room B120, from 8:30am to 4:00pm. Coretta Scott King Young Women's Leadership Academy Kesharia Woods (Ms. Woods): Ms. Woods is a May 2016 graduate of the University of Georgia. During her time at UGA, she earned a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. This is also her first year serving as a College Advising Corps adviser. As a first- generation college graduate, Ms. Woods is very excited to help students prepare for their paths to and through college and looks forward to working with the CSK family this year. Crim Open Campus High School/Forrest Hill Academy Andre Reaves (Mr. Reaves): Mr. Reaves is beginning his second year as a College Advising Corps adviser at Crim Open Campus High School and Forrest Hill Academy. He is an native and former student and attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Business Agriculture. Mr. Reaves works alongside the school counselors, parent liaisons, and faculty to ensure that students at Crim and Forrest Hill Academy have a well-thought-out plan for after they graduate. His goal is to help students at Crim High School and Forrest Hill Academy reach their true potential while making a college degree realistic and attainable by providing resources and opportunities to students. D.M. Therrell High School Modupe Salimonu (Ms. Sali): Ms. Salimonu is a first-year College Advising Corps adviser. She graduated from Georgia Southern University in December 2015 and serves as an adviser because she is passionate about making sure that all students are aware of their higher education opportunities and have the tools they need to reach their goals. She is excited to start the year and looks forward to achieving greatness at Therrell.

Chanelle Washington (Ms. Washington): Ms. Washington is a College Advising Corps adviser serving in her second year at D.M. Therrell High School. She graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2015 with bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Communication Studies. She strives to ensure that all students have access to the resources and tools needed to not only be accepted into college, but also to graduate from college. Frederick Douglass High School Jessica Hood (Ms. Hood): Ms. Hood is a first-year college adviser at Frederick Douglass High School. She is a graduate of Brandeis University and a recipient of the Posse Foundation Leadership Scholarship. She returned from Massachusetts to her hometown of Atlanta to work for College Advising Corps and be a resource for students interested in exploring their postsecondary options. She is available to help students apply to 2-year institutions, 4-year institutions, and assist in registering for all necessary exams. She is located in the College and Career Center in Room 172 to answer any and all questions about the college-going process.

David Johnson (Mr. Johnson): Mr. Johnson is a first-year college adviser at Frederick Douglass High School. He is a graduate of Florida A&M University and a proud recipient of their Presidential Life Gets Better Scholarship. He has the desire to see all of his students succeed and reach their goals. He is available to assist his students in all areas of postsecondary success including college applications, test registration, test preparation, and financial aid. Mr. Johnson is passionate about helping his students realize their maximum potential. He is located in the College and Career Center in Room 172 to answer any and all questions about the college-going process.

Henry W. Grady High School Jenae Herrington (Ms. Herrington): Ms. Herrington is a recent graduate of the College of Wooster, where she received a bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Religious Studies. Serving in her second year as a College Advising Corps adviser, Ms. Herrington is very excited to assist students in navigating the college application process! She is located in the College & Career Center (C226) and is available to meet with students between the hours of 8:30am and 3:30pm and after school by appointment. Maynard H. Jackson High School Janai Raphael (Ms. Raphael): Ms. Raphael is an Atlanta native but was raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia, where she graduated from Stephenson High School. As a first-generation college student, she made Athens, Georgia, her second home and majored in Biological Sciences at the University of Georgia. Following graduation, Ms. Raphael immediately joined College Advising Corps to help high school students plan for and reach their postsecondary goals. Ms. Raphael is available in the College Bound Center from 8:00am - 3:30pm and after school from 3:30 - 5:00pm and also by appointment. Johnnae Roberts (Ms. Roberts): Ms. Roberts is a graduate of Georgia State University, where she majored in English with a minor in Marketing. This is her second year serving as a College Advising Corps adviser at Maynard H. Jackson High School. Ms. Roberts is excited to support the students she serves as they consider their postsecondary options. North Atlanta High School Mikala Bush (Ms. Bush): Ms. Bush is a second-year College Advising Corps adviser at North Atlanta High School. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Public Health. You may contact her for any questions related to the college application process. Ms. Bush is located in the College & Career Center in 8141 and is available for appointments or general questions from 8:30am to 4:00pm. South Atlanta High School Stephanie Styles (Ms. Styles): Ms. Styles is a College Advising Corps adviser at South Atlanta High School. Her primary mission and focus is to guide students through the college application and matriculation processes, including college selection, ACT/SAT preparation, scholarship searching, and support completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All students at South Atlanta High School are required to apply to college (at no cost to students or their families). As an adviser, Ms. Styles works to personalize her advice and guidance to meet the individualized needs of each student.

Ka’Necia Harpe (Ms. Harpe): Ms. Harpe is also a College Advising Corps adviser at South Atlanta High School. Her primary mission and focus is to guide students through the college application and matriculation processes, including college selection, ACT/SAT preparation, scholarship searching, and support completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All students at South Atlanta High School are required to apply to college (at no cost to students or their families). As an adviser, Ms. Harpe works to personalize her advice and guidance to meet the individualized needs of each student.

West End Academy Shimar Clements (Ms. Clements): This is Ms. Clements's second year serving West End Academy as the College Advising Corps adviser. She is the go-to person for helping students finalize their plans as they graduate from high school. This includes applying to and preparing for trade programs, 2-year, and 4-year colleges. Ms. Clements is originally from New York but has lived in Georgia for nine years and graduated from Marietta High School. She has a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Evangel University in Missouri. Ms. Clements is available to meet with parents and students Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
