(Repair Costs + Renewal Costs) FCI = Current Replacement Cost RATINGS Good: 0-15% Lower FCI scores indicate Fair: 15.01 -30% better relative condition. Poor: 30.01 -100% LOW HIGH See appendix for additional information 26 SUITABILITY SCORE BUILDING CONDITION SCORE The Suitability Score is made up of many data points that Building Condition Analysis is a review of the current measure or rate the features of spaces and the overall facility maintenance needs of all the major building systems – by how well they meet the district’s educational specifications roof, plumbing, heating, etc. noting any deficiencies. and support the educational programs and activities in each Condition scores are based on the assessed remaining school. useful life of the identified components. Higher Scores = Better Condition (fewer components DATA POINTS: nearing end of life cycle). Environment: the room is inviting and stimulating Size: the room meets square footage standards Location: the room is appropriately located for the program Storage/Fixed Equipment: there is adequate storage space and fixed equipment appropriate to the program Suitability Score is based on a 100 point scale developed as a percentage of possible points for all suitability categories. Higher scores indicate better suitability. LOW HIGH See appendix for additional information 27 SCHOOL SCORE The School Score is a composite of two component scores: Building Condition and the Suitability Score. To create the combined score the condition score was weighted at 60% and the educational adequacy or suitability score was weighted at 40%. The combined score provides a comprehensive picture of the conditions that exist at each school and how each school compares relative to the other schools in the district. (Condition Score * weighting factor of 60) SCHOOL = + SCORE (Suitability Score * weighting factor of 40) The higher the score the better. LOW HIGH See appendix for additional information 28 BIG PICTURE OBSERVATION Atlanta Public Schools has achieved an overall district- wide FCI score of 11.76% (FCA Score of 88.24) which falls within the "Good" rating developed by Parsons and based on our national experience with publicly-funded institutions like K-12 schools. APS improved a full percentage-point since the 2015 assessment. This is a notable achievement, especially for a major urban district. — Parsons Corporation Excellent Good Fair Poor Unsatisfactory FCA Score > 90 FCA Score 80-89 FCA Score 70-79 FCA Score 60-69 FCA Score < 60 29 CAPITAL PROJECTS AWARDS & RECOGNITIONS (2001 - 2021) Howard MS King MS Atlanta Public Schools Mays HS Atlanta Public Schools 2021 Georgia Trust for Historic 2017 American Institute of 2014 U.S. Green Building Council 2012 American Institute of Architects 2009 Greater Atlanta Economic Preservation (GTHP) Architects – Georgia Chapter Georgia (USGBC) (AIA) - South Atlantic Region Alliance Howard MS Bunche MS North Atlanta HS Mays HS Long MS 2021 Atlanta Business 2016 Construction Management 2014 Urban Land Institute 2012 American Institute of Architects 2008 Associated General Chronicle (ABC) Association of America (CMAA) (ULI) (AIA) – Georgia Chapter Contractors (AGC) Howard MS Continental Colony ES North Atlanta HS Therrell HS Long MS 2021 Atlanta Urban Design 2016 U.S. Green Building Council 2014 Construction Management 2012 American Institute of Architects 2007 Atlanta Urban Design Commission (AUDC) Georgia (USGBC) Association of America (CMAA) (AIA) – Georgia Chapter Commission (AUDC) Humphries ES Rivers ES North Atlanta HS Springdale Park ES Grady HS 2021 Construction Management 2016 American Society of Civil 2014 Construction Management 2011 U.S. Green Building Council 2006 Atlanta Urban Design Association of America (CMAA) Engineers - Georgia (ASCE-GA) Association of America (CMAA) Georgia (USGBC) Commission (AUDC) TAG Academy Lakewood Stadium Maynard Jackson HS Grady Stadium Jones ES 2020 Construction Management 2015 U.S. Green Building Council 2014 Construction Management 2011 Atlanta Urban Design 2006 American School & University Association of America (CMAA) Georgia (USGBC) Association of America (CMAA) Commission (AUDC) Magazine (ASUM) Gideons ES Mays HS North Atlanta HS Springdale Park ES Dobbs ES 2020 Construction Management 2015 U.S. Green Building Council 2014 Council of Educational Facilities 2010 Atlanta Urban Design 2004 American School & University Association of America (CMAA) Georgia (USGBC) Planners International Southeast Commission (AUDC) Magazine (ASUM) Beecher Hills ES Therrell HS North Atlanta HS BEST Academy Parkside ES 2020 Construction Management 2015 U.S. Green Building Council 2012 Atlanta Urban Design 2010 American School & University 2002 Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Georgia (USGBC) Commission (AUDC) Magazine (ASUM) Association of America (CMAA) Beecher Hills ES Atlanta Public Schools Mays HS CSKYLW Academy Parkside ES 2001 Associated General 2015 Georgia State Legislature 2012 Atlanta Urban Design 2010 Associated General 2001 Associated Builders & Contractors (AGC) (GSL) Commission (AUDC) Contractors (AGC) Contractors (ABC) Walden Complex Rivers ES Springdale Park ES Springdale Park ES 2019 Construction Management 2015 Construction Management 2012 U.S. Department of Education 2010 American Institute of Association of America (CMAA) Association of America (CMAA) (USDOE) Architects (AIA) Brandon Primary ES Maynard Jackson HS Therrell HS Springdale Park ES 2017 Associated General 2015 Atlanta Urban Design 2001 American Institute of Architects 2010 U.S. Green Building Council Contractors (AGC) Commission (AUDC) (AIA) – South Atlantic Region Georgia (USGBC) 30 BIG PICTURE: FACILITIES CONDITION ASSESSMENTS Excellent Good Fair Poor Unsatisfactory FCI FCA Gross FCA Score > 90 FCA Score 80-89 FCA Score 70-79 FCA Score 60-69 FCA Score < 60 Facility Name Count % Score Area Count Gross Area Count Gross Area Count Gross Area Count
