Sting's current hit, "IF I EVER LOSE MY FAITH IN YOU." is from his album 'Ten Summoner's Tales.' He didn't do the album in a recording studio -- and he explains why: STING · ACTUALITY; (:27) "I really don't like studios very much. I find them, sort of like, prison-like environments. Where you don't see the air -- or breathe the air, or see sunlight for months on end. So I decided that I'd make a record at home. You know, with the kids around. So I moved everybody out of the dining room. (Laughs) And moved this equipment in. And the kitchen was next door, so we had the nice smell of food going most of the day. And we could, you know, walk around in the garden, open the windows ... And just live a real life, instead of a fake environment that the studio gives you." 2. BOY KRAZY first broke big in Denver. They made their first concert appearance there at an AIDS benefit show in front of about 30-thousand people. Ruth Ann and Johnna told us about it. (Were they a little 'nervous?') BOY KRAZY ACTUALITY (:32 ) "That was our first show, so we were nervous. We opened up the show, and they said, 'Now, ladies and gentlemen -- BOY KRAZY!'. And everyone started screaming. And we thought -- we were, like, looking around, thinking - who are they screaming for? And then we get up on the stage, and we're all coming out real slow, like, · Are you sure you're screaming for us?' Then they kept screaming, and we actually, like, turned around to see if anybody was behind us. ·cause we couldn't believe the response. Because over in the UK, we'd go places, and people would laugh at us. They'd think we were a joke. And they did not like our music, or anything about us. At all." 3. Silk's current song is "FREAK ME." They told us about the first time they heard it on the radio: SILK ACTUALITY: (:33) "Jimmy and I were in a car, in DC. I think this was in November. I just remember there were other people around. And I remember I was talking when the song came on the radio. And we were like, 'Where'd that come from?' And we were listening to the song. I was thinking to myself · Oh, man, I feel bad. I feel bad, 'cause I'm in the car with these women and they hear this song, and I don't know how they feel abou it.' But we asked them, and they thought it was cool. It's really the public who made · FREAK ME', cause they're the ones who accepted it. And we thank you for accepting the song, 'cause we thought you were gonna get us. And we thank you for a platinum-plus single." First, though, comes the lead-in show, “Monday Night Countdown.” The inherent challenge here, it seems to an outsider, is to make more than two hours of older men sitting down, talking, and not playing football remotely compelling to watch. To keep the energy level high, the network uses brash-talking commentators, action-packed game highlights, fancy graphics, proof and, very selectively, music. As the show goes to its last commercial, the camera pulls back from the broadcasters and an up-tempo song blares briefly.
