  • February 26, 2021 Amazon Warehouse Workers In
February 26, 2021 Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama are voting to form a union with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). We are the writers of feature films and television series. All of our work is done under union contracts whether it appears on Amazon Prime, a different streaming service, or a television network. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. Deadline Amazon accepts unions for entertainment workers, and we believe warehouse workers deserve the same respect in the workplace. We strongly urge all Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer to VOTE UNION YES. She was discovered while attending Westlake School for Girls in Bel Air, California, when actress Charlotte Rae and producer Norman Lear came to the school to authenticate scripts for their new show. Ms. Rae was so taken with the vivacious eighth grader she convinced producers to create a role for her. Mindy remained on the show for all nine seasons, also traveling to Paris and Australia with her co-stars to produce two successful television movies based on the series. Concurrently, with her role in Facts, Mindy played “Rose Jenko” in Fox’s 21 Jump Street. Other notable television appearances included Diff’rent Strokes, Double Trouble, Charles in Charge, Dream On and Suddenly Susan. In 1983, Mindy appeared in her first professional stage performance in Table Settings, written and directed by James Lapine and filmed for HBO Television. The illustrious cast included Eileen Heckart, Stockard Channing, Robert Klein, Peter Riegart, and Dinah Manoff. She went on to make her feature film debut in The Boy Who Could Fly, which co-starred Colleen Dewhurst, Fred Gwynne and Fred Savage. Mindy took a hiatus from her career to attend university, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and a Masters in Education. During this time, she studied improvisation and scene work with Gary Austin and Larry Moss.

KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES: SOCIOECONOMIC CLASS REPRESENTATION IN SITCOMS by ALEXANDRA HICKS A THESIS Presented to the School of Journalism and Communication and the Robert D. Clark Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Arts June 2014 A• Abstracto( the Thesis of Alexandra Hicks for 1he degree ofBachelor of Arts in the School of Journalism and Communication to be talcen June, 2014 Title: Keeping Up With the Jonescs: Socioeconomic Class Representation in Sitcoms Awroa:&~ This thesis examines the representation of socioeconomic class in situation comedies. Through the influence of the advertising industiy, situation comedies (sitcoms) have developed a pattem throughout history of misrepresenting ~ial class, which is made evident by their portrayals ofdifferent races, genders, and professions. To rectify the IKk ofprevious studies on modem comedies, this study analyzes socioeconomic class representation on sitcoms that have aired in the last JS years by taking a sample ofseven shows and comparing the estimated cost of characters' residences to the amount of money they would likely earn in their given profession. 1be study showed that modem situation comedies misrepresent socioeconomic class by portraying characters living in residences well beyond what they could afford in real life. Accurate demonstration ofsocioeconomic class on television is imperative be<:ause images presented on television genuinely influence viewers• perceptions of reality. Inaccurate portrayals ofclass could cause audiences to develop distorted views ofmember.; of socioeconomic classes and themselves. u Acknowledgements I would like to thank Professor Debra Merskin for inspiring me to examine television in an in-depth and critical manner.

For attorneys, that’s no different – even when they’re watching lawyers on TV. “Better Call Saul” is the latest in a long line of TV shows about the legal profession. A prequel to AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” the show stars Bob Odenkirk as a crooked-at-times attorney named Jimmy McGill. “He’s a likable guy and you like his character,” said Patrick Fitzsimmons, senior associate at Hodgson Russ LLP in Buffalo. “It’s a great show. I think it’s the one BEN LEUNER/AMC show compared to the others where it’s not about a big firm.” “Better Call Saul” puts a new spin on legal drama as the slippery Jimmy McGill (played by Bob Odenkirk) Also a fan is Michael Benz, an associate at HoganWillig who recently returned to builds his practice. his native Buffalo after working in the Philadelphia public defender’s office and in his own practice as a criminal defense attorney. “(Odenkirk’s character is) the classic defense attorney who will do anything to make a buck or help his client,” Benz said, adding that he often binge-watches shows with his wife, Carla, an attorney in the federal public defender’s office in Buffalo.

  • UNCLE WICK Written by Gabe Delahaye
UNCLE WICK Written by Gabe Delahaye EXT. DUBAI - NIGHT The glittering skyscrapers of oil rich Dubai loom over the Arabian sea. We pass through them and down the coast... ...to a PALATIAL ESTATE: luscious green gardens in the middle of the desert, an olympic-sized swimming pool, ARMED GUARDS lining the roof and patrolling the perimeter... We push into... INT. LIBRARY - PALATIAL ESTATE - DUBAI - CONTINUOUS House music thuds in the background. There is a party happening at the house, but this BRASS AND LEATHER LIBRARY is where serious business happens. ANGLE ON: an IMPERIOUS CRIME LORD sipping tea at the head of a massive antique table, surrounded by his HENCHMEN. This is HAMZA (60s) head of “The Nizam,” a league of assassins. HAMZA We’re not having this discussion again. The peace with Skalnikoff and The Colony has been to everyone’s financial benefit. They take the lion’s share of western assignments, but the Nizam controls the east, and with it-- TARIK This isn’t peace. This is Skalnikoff waiting for our guard to drop, so he can strike. If you don’t come for him, he’ll come for you, father. ANGLE ON: TARIK (30s) at the opposite end of the table. He has the bearing of an ungrateful prince: controlled by his father and desperate to take his place. HAMZA I admire your ambition, my son, but you still have much to learn. In the background, the CLUB MUSIC cuts out and we hear SCREAMS. The men at the table perk up, on high alert. A HENCHMAN peaks out the window, shakes his head to signal: the roof is empty.
