Transform , Perkasa tells speaker MalaysiaKini.com Oct 19 th , 2015 Anne Muhammad

Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia should 'transform' Parliament first if lawmakers are to table a motion of no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

According to Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali, it is high time a motion of no-confidence was tabled in parliament to show that it is more democratic and has integrity.

"The speaker should take account of such issues (no-confidence motion) so that parliament is seen to be truly practising democracy and has integrity.

"Now and in the future - no matter who is the prime minister – when there is a motion of no-confidence, it should be the main agenda of the parliament," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

However, Ibrahim stressed that he is not suggesting that Najib should be replaced, but is instead merely commenting on parliamentary procedures.

"(I'm not talking about) the issue of agreeing or disagreeing (that Najib should be replaced), but the important thing is not only the no-confidence vote […]

"Any important motion tabled by the opposition should be given priority to ensure that the institution is truly seen as competent," he said.

Najib flashed a smile when faced with questions about the no-confidence motion tabled against him.

He was responding to questions on whether he is worried about the motion tabled by Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Hee Loy Sian, following allegations that RM2.6 billion had been deposited in his personal bank account.

However, the opposition motion hit an internal snag when DAP protested, saying that it should be Opposition Leader Dr who should file the motion.

Following this, Wan Azizah, who is also PKR president, agreed to lead the charge.
