2017_Opening_Pages.indd 6 3/20/17 7:25 AM Auctioneer and DJ

DAVID SILVERMAN

Throughout his thirty-nine year career David Silverman has entertained people as an actor, stand-up comedian, singer, dancer, choreographer, director and emcee. A familiar face to Northwest audiences on stage or on TV, he has a long list of credits including winning the first Seattle Laugh-off in 1980.

David has become one of the most sought after charity auctioneers in the Seattle area. His ability to entertain and raise money makes for a very different auction experience. He has also entertained corporate groups for years as a ‘mock’ expert, giving talks on everything from quality control, to horse breeding and sand sprinklers. His powers of bafflement keep people guessing right up to the reveal. As a corporate emcee, David has kept meetings from getting boring with his unique ability to keep the audience engaged. He is most proud of his longest running show, twenty years with his stunning wife Stacya, a force unto herself.

DJ Pheloneous

DJ Pheloneous has catapulted into the Club, Hip Hop and Radio Scene in the past three years; playing everything from exclusive Mashups to Classic Party-joints, Hip-Hop to Techno, and of course Reggaeton. His versatility has made him a must have for Seattle’s hottest club events at venues such as Ballard Loft, Shelter and The Baltic Room.

2017_Opening_Pages.indd 10 3/20/17 7:25 AM 2017 Fund-A-Need

The 21st Century Classroom

The 2016 Fund-a-Need was a great success. With your generous contributions, the school raised over $65,000 to help complete the full renovation of Crispin’s Kitchen in Egan Hall. A short six months later our students and families were enjoying a hot lunch program committed to preparing quality meals on site using all fresh ingredients. We appeal to you to make the 2017 Fund-a-Need another success story.

As the school embarks on designing classrooms of the future, we desire to create educational spaces that inspire collaboration, accommodate student-learning styles, and speak to the needs of the 21st century. The 2017 Fund-a-Need will help St. John School transform our teaching spaces into learning labs that support the most contemporary trends in education. Your generous donations to this year’s Fund-a-Need can help to purchase: • Updated technology (tablets, computers, etc) • Stand up desks/tables (“Genius Bars”) along with physical dividers to support a variety of learning experiences, from individual to collaborative • Charging stations to support student technology • Writable classroom walls • Modular teacher work stations • Work booths for private conversations or one-to-one tutoring Get ready to raise your bid cards, the target amount needed at auction–$60,000!

Corporate matching may apply. Consult your employee benefits office for more information about matching your gift.

1001 “These Are A Few of My Favorite Things…” Capturing our student’s individual silhouettes and pairing them with a cyanotype image of their favorite items, we created a beautiful blue print of our sweet PreK kiddos. Combined with the handwritten text “These Are A Few of My Favorite Things”, our striking composition is both a personal portrait and collective portrayal of our 3-day preschool class. Value: Priceless Thank you: 3-Day Morning Preschool

1002 “A Handy Quilt” Hands are amazing. Think of all the things you can do with them. The five-day Morning Preschool class had fun creating handprint art on blocks of white fabric. These blocks were put together in a lovely quilt, about 70” x 80”. Purple sashing and borders surround the blocks, while the back is a fleece with a handprint pattern. Yes, hands are amazing and preschool hands maybe even more so because they are so fleeting. Value: Priceless Thank you: 5-Day Morning Preschool

1003 “With All My Heart” The 5-day Afternoon Preschool students set to work on making collage hearts. Made with love, each heart reflects the young artist’s individuality. Mounted together in a classic frame, this heartfelt mixed media piece is enhanced by calligraphy with the message: “We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19. Value: Priceless Thank you: 5-Day Afternoon Preschool
