Background: East Council has received various applications for war memorial grants to be considered in line with the Council’s Policy for the Allocation of War Memorial Grants. Each grant application is outlined in the report, as is the reason for the recommendation in respect of that application.

All of the proposed grants can be funded from within existing budgets approved as part of the Council’s Budget for 2014/15.

The aim of the grants is to assist the funding of the repair and refurbishment of First World War memorials across the Borough in order to commemorate the anniversary of the start and end of the First World War.

In repairing and refurbishing these important community monuments, it is anticipated that there will be increased local community involvement and additional events planned around these monuments.

The aim of the grants is to support small scale community projects that will improve the quality of life for local communities. Grants will be awarded to organisations/project/events which meet the priorities in the Cheshire East Sustainable Community Strategy.
