The defendant is the Welsh Rugby Union, which organises and controls the sport of rugby union in Wales. It is the view of the WRU that as a result of the re-organisation of the Premier Division to reduce the number of clubs playing in it and Pontypool’s position in order of playing meritocracy of the fourteen clubs formerly in the division, the club is now only eligible to play in the Championship, the next division down. The essence of Pontypool’s case is that clubs which are above it on a basis of playing merit have not met the requirements to hold an A licence as required for the Premiership by the WRU’s National League Rules 2011/2012, and so there is a place for Pontypool within the Premiership.

CARDIFF ARMS PARK CASE STUDY Forest fx PUR Expona Commercial PUR Rustic Oak Blue Recycled Wood 3330 4068 Country: High design and hardwearing vinyl flooring from UK manufacturer Polyflor was used Cardiff Arms Park, to create a brand new bar area for fans to socialise in at the home of Cardiff Blues United Kingdom rugby club, Cardiff Arms Park. Market Segment A mix of wood and stone effect designs from the Forest fx PUR sheet vinyl flooring collection and Expona Design PUR luxury vinyl tile range were both used in this Hostpitality & Leisure updated café bar area at the stadium in the centre of Cardiff. The bar refurbishment was designed, managed and carried out by local interior fit out specialists Office Space: Image, with the flooring installed by Gareth Wood Contract Flooring Services. Restaurant/Bar Forest fx flooring in Rustic Oak and Expona Design tiles in Atlantic Slate were selected to complement the traditional bar area and rugby union themed décor in the suite. Atlantic Slate was used throughout the bar’s bathroom areas whilst Expona Commercial luxury vinyl tiles in in Blue Recycled Wood were also fitted to hospitality boxes overlooking the pitch. More memories from Joe For the third of my lockdown projects, and with the help of Gethin Williams, Keith Warren, Jeremy Wood and Dr Haydn James, I take a look at all the sporting arena performances that the London Welsh Male Voice Choir have been involved in. The Arenas The rehearsals are over. You walk out in your red jackets, heart-thumping, into a half empty stadium and stand on the pitch, pre-match, looking at the vast space of the arena that will, in a short time, be packed to the rafters with fervent supporters. You are performing to a captive audience who’s heart and soul are perfectly in tune with yours and who give you their undivided attention as the atmosphere is ramped up minutes before kick-off. You are privileged to be here, walking on hallowed turf. You feel the excitement and pride of appearing before an expectant nation. You smell the newly cut and watered grass. You hear the roar and stand in unison with your heroes as they walk onto the pitch. There is a moment’s silence as the crowd rises and all eyes are on you, and your eyes are on the conductor, as his baton brings in the band accompaniment before experiencing the spine-tingling emotion of singing your national anthem to an arena packed with rugby fans and a live television audience of millions. You are part of extraordinary matches and witness legends being made, and folklore created in song. You are on the fi eld with The London Welsh Male Voice Choir and you will be part of some of Wales’s most iconic rugby matches in modern times.

It all started in 1876 when Cardiff Rugby Football Club was founded following a meeting at Swiss Hall, Queen Street, when the amalgamation of two clubs, Glamorgan and Cardiff Wanderers was agreed. The first competitive game was played at Wentloog Marshes on 2nd December that year. The first home game was played at Sophia Gardens, but the club soon relocated to its famous ground at Cardiff Arms Park which was named after the local Cardiff Arms public house and on the grounds of the old Cardiff Hotel. Cardiff's iconic home was soon to be shared by Wales, who staged internationals on the ground from 12th April, 1884 until 15th March,1997. Wales beat Ireland by two tries and a dropped goal to nil in their first international at Cardiff Arms Park, but lost their last one 34-13 against England. In 1999 the National Stadium, Cardiff Arms Park, as it was officially known, was replaced by the Millennium (Principality).
