1. IDENTITY: The Granfondo La Fausto Coppi is an international competitive and amateur cycling marathon in its 30th year. 2. STARTING DATE: July 9, 2017. 1. PRE RACE VENUE: Cuneo Piazza Galimberti (on the east side of the square) Single Grid opening at 6:15 a.m. 3. START: 7:00 a.m. 4. SOLIDARITY GRID: 150 race numbers at the cost of 100€ are reserved to those who wish to ride in support of a project to save the mountain roads. They can start in a separate solidarity grid. 5. MEDIOFONDO: short distance 111 km / 2510 m+ Cuneo, Cervasca, Bernezzo, Caraglio, Valgrana, Monterosso Grana, Pradleves, Castelmagno, Demonte, Valdieri, Borgo San Dalmazzo, Cuneo 6. GRANFONDO: long distance 177 km / 4125 m+ Cuneo, Tarantasca, Busca, Costigliole di Saluzzo, Piasco, Venasca, Brossasco, Valmala, Rossana, Villar san Costanzo, Dronero, Montemale, Valgrana, Monterosso Grana, Pradleves, Castelmagno, Demonte, Valdieri, Borgo San Dalmazzo, Cuneo. 7. ADMISSION CONDITIONS: the event is open to all cycling amateurs of both sexes, from 17 to 64 years old. Participants aged 17 years or over the age of 64 years are allowed to enter for the short distance (111 km) only. All participants must have a valid license for Competitive Cycling issued by an international Cycling Federation (UCI license). Elite and under 23 pro cyclists can take part in La Fausto Coppi exclusively for promotional purposes and upon invitation from the organizing committee. They will not in any case enter the overall ranking. The Organizing Committee may, at any time and at its own discretion, decide to accept or not a registration or exclude an already registered athlete. Unregistered cyclists (without a valid start number and the official “La Fausto Coppi” race jersey for the current year) cannot join the race and will be immediately expelled from the race course. Any accident they might cause will be immediately reported to police officers in conformity with law. E-bike are not allowed. 8. OTHER LICENSES: Licenses issued for Triathlon or any other sport are not accepted. 9. PARTICIPANTS WITHOUTH CYCLING LICENSE: participants without valid cycling licence must buy one Daily License the day of the sign-in. The daily license, issued by the Italian Sport Promotion Body, which the organizations is member of, costs 10,00 € and covers basic insurance costs. To get this daily license, valid for the race day participants must bring the following documents: (both for the short and for the long distance) - medical certificate (original and one copy) issued by a sport doctor or sports medicine centres testifying they have been visited and declared able for competitive cycling (general practitioner certificates are not valid) - copy of passport or ID card. 10. MECHANICAL DOPING: the organizers shall adopt the implementation rules 2017 concerning amateur cycling, recalling FCI (Italian Cycling Federation) and UCI rules in matter of technological fraud, paragraphs 1.3.010 e 12.1.013 bis. The commissaries’ panel with the technical support of the organization is allowed to carry out random or regular tests to detect technological fraud. Non compliance or refusal to undergo such tests will immediately lead to disqualification and report to competent bodies. 11. INDIVDUAL ENTRY: registrations ca be made: - ON LINE through the web site http://www.faustocoppi.net/ new/en/edition-2017/how-to-register/ Closing date Friday July 07, at midnight. - BY E-MAIL OR FAX: downloading the entry form from the official web site http:// www.faustocoppi.net/new/en/edition-2017/how-to-register/ filling it in and sending it by mail to [email protected] or by fax to +39 0171 324622 along with the payment receipt of the entry fee and a copy of the cycling licence. Closing date Friday July 7 12. GROUP ENTRY: To register a group of athletes download the group entry form and proceed as indicated in Art. 12 for e-mail registration. Each ten registrations one is free (i.e. the 11th registration is free). 13. REGISTRATIONS DEADLINE: on line and e-mail registrations see Art. 12. On Saturday July 8 it's possible to register directly at the La Fausto Coppi Village in Cuneo Piazza Galimberti from 10.00 a.m. To 7:30 p.m. This terms can be changed by the organizing committee at its own discretion for operational or safety reasons. 14. REGISTRATION FEES: • 35 € within December 31st, 2016. • 45 € within April 10, 2017. • 50 euro € within July 7, 2017. • 60 € for registrations to be made on July 8, 2017 at the Registration Desk based in “La Fausto Coppi” village. • 100 € for 150 numbers in solidarity grid, see Art. 5. Proceeds from this sale will be entirely donated to the project “Save the mountain routes”. PROVIDED SERVICES: the entry fee includes: La Fausto Coppi jersey 2017 that must be worn throughout the race under penalty of disqualification, bib number, gifts and complimentary gadgets by the race sponsors, en-route food stations, medical assistance, showers, Italian pasta party, prizes for top rankers, SAG wagon for riders unable to end the race, massage therapy for finishers. 15. CANCELLATION: in case of withdrawal the registration will be kept valid for the next edition of La Fausto Coppi. The withdrawal must be communicated by e-mail within June 20th, 2017. After that date the registration fees are not refundable. 16. RACE CANCELLATION: no refund is foreseen in case of cancellation of the race for circumstances beyond organization control. 17. CHECK IN: checking of licenses and medical certificates, bib number and goodie bag collection will take place at the La Fausto Coppi Village in Cuneo, Piazza Galimberti on Saturday July 8 from 10.00 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. and on Sunday July 9 (day of the competition) from 5.45 to 6.30 a.m. 18. ELECTRONIC CHECKS: it is mandatory to pass through the electronic check both at the start and throughout the race course. Those who start before the official start or do not pass the electronic check will not enter the overall ranking. 19. TIMING SERVICE(CHIP): the timing service will be carried out by MySDAM - MyLaps ® technology. All riders must wear their own chip timing straps or rent it the day before the race (valid for this race only). SAFETY EQUIPMENT: It is mandatory that all riders wear a safety approved cycling helmet complying with latest standards. Any rider not wearing a helmet will not be covered by the event insurance and will be disqualified from the event and could be liable for damages if involved in an accident on that basis. Bib number must be positioned in front of the bike and worn in the middle of the back both must be firmly fixed and clearly visible at any time. Following equipment is also mandatory: tools for replacing a tire and material to repair punctures i.e. spare tubes or tires, CO2 cartridges and/or pumps, water bottle, survival blanket and replacement clothing or supplementary clothing suitable for high mountain racing and in case of unexpected changes in the weather conditions. 21. FOOD STATIONS: riders will find 5 food stations at the following landmarks: Santuario di Valmala, La Piatta, Santuario di Castelmagno, Colle della Fauniera, Madonna del Colletto. Water will be supplied only in plastic cups or in dispensers to fill the riders’ water bottles. Flying bottles are not allowed. 22. SUPPORT VEHICLES: Team cars or personal support cars are not allowed during the race. 23. ROAD TRAFFIC: roads will be temporarily closed to public traffic as per order issued by the competent authorities. All cyclists must adhere to and obey all Italian Highway Code Rules and local bylaws. In case of abandon of the race it is strictly prohibited to ride in direction opposite to the race, riders could be liable for damages if involved in an accident on that basis. 24. SAG WAGON: Special buses and trucks will be available for the recovery of those participants, and their bicycles, who are unable to complete the race. Bikes could be loaded on the trucks at a different time. 25. TIME LIMIT: the race must be completed within 10 hours from the official starting time, anyone arriving after this time will not be ranked. 26. GATES: last possible transit time through Monterosso Grana 12.30 pm (km 95), Festiona (beginning of Madonna del Colletto climb) 3.30 pm (km 143). 27. RESULTS: results will be posted in Piazza Galimberti near the Sdam Chip Point and after on the official web site www.faustocoppi.net. After the finish all cyclists are requested to go to the SDAM check point to return the rented chip. 28. COMPLAINTS: any complaint should be addressed to the race’s Jury according to current regulations, and accompanied by the established fees (regulations of LIBERTAS league apply). Group complaints, signed by more than one person, are not allowed. 29. AWARD CEREMONY: prizes will be given to the first man and the first woman of the overall ranking, to the top three riders in each category and to the club with the largest number of registered participants.
