Those guys take care of me, they’d do anything for each other and I just love it over there (in the kennel).” According to the Navy’s Center for Security Forces, the Continuation School (C-School) to be trained as an MWD Handler is held at the Naval Technical Center (NTC) Lackland in Texas. NTC Lackland says that MWDs and their handlers are a highly trained, highly skilled formidable duo. These teams are deployed throughout the world to perform duties of law enforcement and support a wide range of security operations. The course trains selected Master-at-Arms and Department of Defense personnel in the knowledge and skills needed to partner with patrol and detector dogs. “For a regular Master-at-Arms their main focus is patrolling the streets, community service, and customer relations,” said Atsugi Kennel Master, Chief Master-at-Arms Mark Anthony Garcia, from Granbury, Texas. “Those are the things that the MWD handlers do as well but we have an additional tool at our disposal.

  • My Experience in Japan
My experience in Japan Federal Rural University of Amazon, Department of Forest Engineering, 3rd year, Beatriz Cordeiro Costa Tokyo NODAI Department: International Agriculture Development This is a little report about my experience in Japan. After this program, I became a better person and I only have to thank everyone who made my dream come true. I cannot believe that my big dream finally was real. I am really happy because I could meet very special people of all this big world. This year I was really happy because I received the big chance of studying in Tokyo Nodai University, Japan, because of the program Re-inventing Japan. An incredible program allows the meeting between many nations in the world and the knowledge sharing. I remember exactly the feeling of the first day in Japan. I was overwhelmed with the university dynamic and with the wonderful Japanese culture, food, religion and many other things. In addition, people there are very helpful, kind- hearted and efficient. Everything is beautiful and works. I realized that Japanese worry about all the minimal details and it is very nice. I know that this opportunity will change my life forever and I only want to say thanks for everyone who made this dream a real thing in my life. The main reason for participating in this study program is to have a new experience in a different country from mine. I think every person has to know about the world around. It can happen when we taste different food, when we meet new people, when we know about other cultures, religions etc.

  • Faith and Power in Japanese Buddhist Art, 1600-2005
japanese art | religions graham FAITH AND POWER IN JAPANESE BUDDHIST ART, 1600–2005 Faith and Power in Japanese Buddhist Art explores the transformation of Buddhism from the premodern to the contemporary era in Japan and the central role its visual culture has played in this transformation. The chapters elucidate the thread of change over time in the practice of Bud- dhism as revealed in sites of devotion and in imagery representing the FAITH AND POWER religion’s most popular deities and religious practices. It also introduces the work of modern and contemporary artists who are not generally as- sociated with institutional Buddhism but whose faith inspires their art. IN JAPANESE BUDDHIST ART The author makes a persuasive argument that the neglect of these ma- terials by scholars results from erroneous presumptions about the aes- thetic superiority of early Japanese Buddhist artifacts and an asserted 160 0 – 20 05 decline in the institutional power of the religion after the sixteenth century. She demonstrates that recent works constitute a significant contribution to the history of Japanese art and architecture, providing evidence of Buddhism’s persistent and compelling presence at all levels of Japanese society. The book is divided into two chronological sections. The first explores Buddhism in an earlier period of Japanese art (1600–1868), emphasiz- ing the production of Buddhist temples and imagery within the larger political, social, and economic concerns of the time. The second section addresses Buddhism’s visual culture in modern Japan (1868–2005), specifically the relationship between Buddhist institutions prior to World War II and the increasingly militaristic national government that had initially persecuted them.

  • This Is the Capital-Bird!”
0938 Sumida river (opinions differ: could be another river/or location of river) This is the capital-bird!” When they still went along further and further, there was a very big river between the provinces of Musashi and Shimosa. That river is called Sumidagawa. When they stood in a group on the bank of that river and reflected upon their long journey, they were all worrying, thinking: “How endless far we have come!” But then the ferryman called: “Come quickly on board, it is already getting dark!” When they had gone aboard and were about to cross the river, all were very sad, for each of them had someone they loved in the capital. At that very moment a white bird with red beak and legs and of a size of a snipe was eating fish while sporting on the water. As it was a bird which is not seen in the capital, none of them knew it. When they asked the ferryman, he said: “This is the capital-bird!” Upon hearing this one of them recited: - If you are true to your name Well, let me ask you something, Captal-bird: - Is the one I love Alive or dead? - so that all in the boat burst into tears.
