The Awards will be given out at the prestigious Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center located in the Time Warner Center on April 28 th , 2008 in New York City. In addition, Frank Chirkinian, referred to by many as the “Father of Televised Golf,” and winner of four Emmy ® Awards, will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award that evening. Chirkinian, who spent his entire career at CBS, was given the task of figuring out how to televise the game of golf back in 1958 when the network decided golf was worth a look. Chirkinian went on to produce 38 consecutive Masters Tournament telecasts, making golf a mainstay in sports broadcasting and creating the standard against which golf telecasts are still measured. -

INTRODUCTION By Diana Nyad For two decades, the GENDER IN TELEVISED SPORTS report has tracked the progress— as well as the lack of progress—in the coverage of women’s sports on television news and highlights shows. One of the positive outcomes derived from past editions of this valuable study has been a notable improvement in the often‐derogatory ways that sports commentators used to routinely speak of women athletes. The good news in this report is that there is far less insulting and overtly sexist treatment of women athletes than there was twenty or even ten years ago. -

WARNING Before playing this game, read the Xbox One system, and accessory manuals for important safety and health information. www.xbox.com/support. Important Health Warning: Photosensitive Seizures A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people with no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause “photosensitive epileptic seizures” while watching video games. Symptoms can include light-headedness, altered vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation, confusion, momentary loss of awareness, and loss of consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling down or striking nearby objects. Immediately stop playing and consult a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms. Parents, watch for or ask children about these symptoms—children and teenagers are more likely to experience these seizures. The risk may be reduced by being farther from the screen; using a smaller screen; playing in a well-lit room, and not playing when drowsy or fatigued. If you or any relatives have a history of seizures or epilepsy, consult a doctor before playing. Women Play Sport, but Not on TV
Article Communication & Sport 00(0) 1-28 ª The Author(s) 2013 Women Play Sport, Reprints and permission: sagepub.com/journalsPermissions.nav But Not on TV: A DOI: 10.1177/2167479513476947 Longitudinal Study of com.sagepub.com Televised News Media Cheryl Cooky1, Michael A. Messner2, and Robin H. Hextrum3 Abstract One of the long-standing trends in research on gender in sports media is the lack of coverage of women’s sport and the lack of respectful, serious coverage of women’s sport. In this article, we critically interrogate the assumption that the media simply provide fans with what they ‘‘want to see’’ (i.e., men’s sports). Using quantitative and qualitative analysis, we examine 6 weeks of the televised news media coverage on the local news affiliates in Los Angeles (KABC, KNBC, and KCBS) and on a nationally broadcast sports news and highlight show, ESPN’s SportsCenter.Part of an ongoing longitudinal study, the findings demonstrate that the coverage of women’s sport is the lowest ever. We argue that the amount of coverage of women’s sports and the quality of that coverage illustrates the ways in which the news media build audiences for men’s sport while silencing and marginalizing women’s sport. Moreover, the overall lack of coverage of women’s sport, despite the tremendous increased participation of girls and women in sport at the high school, collegiate, and professional level, conveys a message to audiences that sport continues to be by, for, and about men. 1 Department of Health & Kinesiology and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Program, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA 2 Department of Sociology and Gender Studies Program, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA 3 Faculty of Fine Arts, Laguna College of Art and Design, Laguna Beach, CA, USA Corresponding Author: Cheryl Cooky, Department of Health & Kinesiology and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Program, Purdue University, 800 W. -

Deklarowane Wartości I Utwierdzanie Dominacji Sportowych Hegemonów W Trybach Fabularnych W Komputerowych Grach Sportowych
Dyskursy imperiów red. Maciej Nawrocki Kraków 2018, s. 161–174 BARTOSZ WIEREMIEJ Wydział Zarządzania i Komunikacji Społecznej Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego Deklarowane wartości i utwierdzanie dominacji sportowych hegemonów w trybach fabularnych w komputerowych grach sportowych Poniższy artykuł dotyczy profesjonalnego sportu i komputerowych gier sportowych – trudno pisać o tym drugim bez wspominania pierwszego. Por. History of Fair Play [on-line:] http://www.fairplayinternational.org/history-of-fair-play [dostęp:28.09.2018]; What Living Football means [on-line:] https://www. fifa.com/livingfootball [dostęp: 28.09.2018]).
