Important Information Regarding the Future of the Gold Coast Public Library The Gold Coast Public Library Board of Trustees remains in contract negotiations with Halm Industries to acquire 180 Glen Head Road. The property sits between Glen Cove Drive, the American Legion Post 336, the Town of Oyster Bay Community Center and our much-used sports fi elds. For an acquisition to go forward, residents of the library district registered to vote in a general election will have to approve the deal. A bond referendum (date to be announced) would include the purchase price of the property plus the cost of a new building. After a public input process that helps determine facility features, the architects would then develop plans and estimates to generate an overall total project price which the public must approve. The Library Director and Board conducted a three-month selection process before naming KG&D Architects of Mt. Kisco, NY, to design a new facility. Before putting pen to paper, the architects will hold a series of design focus groups with Library district residents. At these sessions, interested residents will offer their input on the features they would like in a new building. Once the schedule for these sessions is set, watch for information on how community members who wish to participate can get involved. The Library Board has also engaged the services of Capital Markets Advisors of Great Neck to provide guidance in how to obtain the most effective and cost-effi cient funding should the public approve the project.
