Hbo Premieres the Third Season of Game of Thrones
HBO PREMIERES THE THIRD SEASON OF GAME OF THRONES The new season will premiere simultaneously with the United States on March 31st Miami, FL, March 18, 2013 – The battle for the Iron Throne among the families who rule the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros continues in the third season of the HBO original series, Game of Thrones. Winner of two Emmys® 2011 and six Golden Globes® 2012, the series is based on the famous fantasy books “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R.R. Martin. HBO Latin America will premiere the third season simultaneously with the United States on March 31st. Many of the events that occurred in the first two seasons will culminate violently, with several of the main characters confronting their destinies. But new challengers for the Iron Throne rise from the most unexpected places. Characters old and new must navigate the demands of family, honor, ambition, love and – above all – survival, as the Westeros civil war rages into autumn. The Lannisters hold absolute dominion over King’s Landing after repelling Stannis Baratheon’s forces, yet Robb Stark –King of the North– still controls much of the South, having yet to lose a battle. In the Far North, Mance Rayder (new character portrayed by Ciaran Hinds) has united the wildlings into the largest army Westeros has ever seen. Only the Night’s Watch stands between him and the Seven Kingdoms. Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen – reunited with her three growing dragons – ventures into Slaver’s Bay in search of ships to take her home and allies to conquer it. -
We Are So Excited to Welcome You Back
WE ARE SO EXCITED TO WELCOME YOU BACK I couldn’t be happier to finally be writing this welcome message to you. It’s been an interesting time since my last one; our centenary came and went; our stage was filled not with performers but emergency food provisions; and our team were meeting colleagues through computer screens rather than greeting guests in our beautiful building. We know it’s been a hard year for everyone else too and we’re so excited to welcome you back to experience the magic of theatre once more with this packed programme. It’s only right that after the 100th year of this local treasure, our first season back should be filled with national ones, so we’re delighted to be welcoming cricketing legend Sir Geoffrey Boycott, much-loved music star Tony Christie and the fantastically funny Jasper Carrott amongst a host of brilliant acts this autumn. Fans of folk and country in particular are in for double delight as both The Shires and Seth Lakeman will be gracing our stage while there are also appearances from Elkie Brooks, Eddi Reader, Lee Mead, Michael Portillo and even the brilliant Jason Manford. Lastly, if you missed our fantastic centenary exhibition on stage this summer, there’s an extra chance to see it and find out about the Palace’s fascinating story at our Heritage Open Day event. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon! Carys Coulton-Jones Theatre Manager YOUR SAFETY We know that many of our guests will still be a little nervous about visiting after so long. -
Review for MARYPORT BLUES FESTIVAL (Main Stage) @ Maryport, Cumbria 29Th - 31St July 2016 by Rosy Greer - Lancashire Blues Archive
Review for MARYPORT BLUES FESTIVAL (Main Stage) @ Maryport, Cumbria 29th - 31st July 2016 http://maryportblues.org/ By Rosy Greer - Lancashire Blues Archive Another year of this great festival set in the charming fishing port of Maryport, on the west coast of Cumbria. With Main Stage marquee hosting some cracking blues makers plus an Outside Stage with a mix of music and superb Trail venues throughout the town all added to the great atmosphere. Staying within the bounds of the Main Stage this year, we were delighted with class line up. Friday Kicking off on Friday evening were The Mighty Bosscats, a 4 piece blues band from Essex. Fronted by guitarist singer songwriter Richard Townsend, they had a leaning towards country Texas blues. An excellent band to kick start the festival. http://www.richardtownend.com/ The Mighty Bosscats Following were 3 piece rock band from Manchester, Blackballed. With their own style of 'groove rock', they are certainly a great stage band and gave a high energy entertaining performance. http://www.blackballedband.com/ Blackballed The penultimate act for Friday were The Stevie Nimmo Trio. Always a crowd puller and it was good to see the Marquee so busy. Playing classic blues rock, in Stevie’s own style with a full on sound. Excellent guitar work as usual with superb bass. http://www.stevienimmo.com/ Stevie Nimmo Trio The final band of the evening were The Ian Siegal Band, a favourite in Maryport. Ian played his own individual style of country blues with his full band. A great sound showcasing many Siegal classics. -

(This year’s film section alone hosted more than 200 features and shorts, spread over 11 venues, plus a slew of panels and special events.) The single day when the Interactive, Film, and Music branches of South By Southwest come together—sometimes referred to as Confluence Day, which fell this year on Tuesday, March 11—is when it becomes most apparent that any one person’s SXSW experience represents only the tiniest fraction of potential experiences the festival offers; taking into account that I was only able to attend SXSW Film for three days out of the fest’s nine-day run, that experience becomes even smaller, relatively speaking. Trying to take in and piece together all the festival had to offer in roughly 72 hours often felt like trying to build a raft out of wood shavings. -
