THE 23Rd MARGUTTI TROPHY ENTERS TOP GEAR on the SOUTH GARDA KARTING of LONATO 23rd TROFEO ANDREA MARGUTTI - 23rd-25th MARCH 2012 - SOUTH GARDA KARTING (LONATO-I) KZ2 - KF3 - KF2 - 60 JUNIOR TROPHY THE 23rd MARGUTTI TROPHY ENTERS TOP GEAR ON THE SOUTH GARDA KARTING OF LONATO THE NUMBER OF ENTRANTS IS SUCCESSFULLY HIGH FOR THE 23rd EDITION OF THE ANDREA MARGUTTI TROPHY. THE VENUE, FOR THE FIRST TIME, IS THE CIRCUIT OF LONATO AND THE NUMBER OF ENTRANTS HAS SO FAR REACHED THE RECORD NUMBER OF 245, WITH DRIVERS COMING FROM 33 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. THE RACE IS AIRED ON KO-KART TV Lonato (Brescia - Italy). The 23rd Andrea Margutti Trophy is all set and ready on the South Garda International Circuit. The Trophy is organized by Parma Karting and, for the first time, the venue of this milestone of karting is the Northern Italian circuit. The Trophy was born in 1990 in memory of the young Andrea Margutti, who died in 1989 during the time trials of another milestone of karting, the Trofeo delle Industrie. This year's edition presents itself with all the four categories sold out: 60 Mini, KF3, KF2 and KZ2. The number of drivers is astonishing: 245 from 33 different countries. Besides a good number of Italian drivers, most of the entrants (around 60%) are represented by foreign drivers coming from all around the world. This means that the value of the Trophy is universally recognized and that its appeal for the international karting has not ceased to grow. Besides Italy, drivers come from Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, UK, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Monaco, Norway the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, the USA, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand and Ukraine. There are many top drivers in all the categories, from the junior ones to the more professional KF2 and KZ2, where there will be interesting duels for the top positions of the drivers who have already showed their skill in this initial part of the season in the first international races, such as the Winter Cup of Lonato and the first two rounds of the WSK Master Series. Winning the Andrea Margutti Trophy has always been an important step for the future of any driver. Among the protagonists of the past editions there are several names that have then achieved great results, even in Formula 1: Giancarlo Fisichella, Jarno Trulli, Robert Kubica, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Giancarlo Fisichella, Jenson Button, Tonio Liuzzi, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Pastor Maldonado, and many other stars of car racing such as Thomas Biagi and Giorgio Pantano. The programme of the 23rd Andrea Margutti Trophy begins officially on Friday 23rd March with free practice and scrutineering. On Saturday 24th March the time trials and the qualifying heats begin from h 09.10am. The heats continue until h 06.30pm. On Sunday 25th March, from h 09.50am, the end of the heats then the second-chance heats at h 11.30am. The pre-finals and the finals from h 02.00 pm. Prize giving ceremony at h 06.00pm, with plenty of prizes as far as the 10th place in each category. • The History of Winter Cup: the Karting Talents Show Since 1996
SOUTH GARDA KARTING - LONATO DEL GARDA (BRESCIA), ITALY THE HISTORY OF WINTER CUP: THE KARTING TALENTS SHOW SINCE 1996 The Winter Cup to be held next 19-22 February 2015 at South Garda Karting of Lonato del Garda (Brescia, Italy) celebrates its 20th edition, an important event that recalls the history of this race and of International Karting of the past 20 years. This edition has been enriched by the validity as first round of the International Trophy Bridgestone Supercup. The Winter Cup got birth back in 1996 on the stunning circuit of Lonato del Garda by the will of the building Surveyor Angelo Corberi, who designed and funded the racetrack built in 1988 that has housed the most important national and international events since, including CIK-FIA World and European Championships. The first appointment with the Winter Cup 1996, race that up to that point had the denomination of Italy Cup, was a consequence of the agreement with the most important Outfits of the time to run an international race following CIK regulations on this track, ahead of the FSA and FA World Championship scheduled in Lonato on the 15th of September of the same year. From the following year, the Winter Cup has been the traditional opening to the sporting season and this status of first important race of the year has soon made it a very sought after and important event for all constructors fielding their works teams and for the strongest teams that take this occasion as a first chance for a real technical and sporting comparison with rivals.
