APRIL 7-9, 2017 GPLB.COM 1 2 TOYOTA GRAND PRIX OF LONG BEACH Dear Members of the Media: Welcome to the Roar by the Shore…the 43rd Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. We've designed this media guide to assist you throughout the weekend, whether it be to reference historical data, information on this year's event or information and statistics on our six weekend races. It also includes a section on transportation, hotels and restaurants to make your stay in Long Beach more efficient and enjoyable. Our three-day weekend is packed with activities on and off the track. In addition to the racing, two concerts will take place: on Friday night at 6:45 p.m., the Tecate Light Fiesta Friday concert will feature popular Mexican rock band "Moderatto," while on Saturday night, "SMG Presents Kings of Chaos Starring Billy Idol, Billy Gibbons and Chester Bennington" will entertain the Grand Prix crowd at the Rock-N-Roar Concert. The Lifestyle Expo, located in the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, will see more than 180,000 Grand Prix fans walk through multiple times. Our annual media luncheon takes place on Thursday, April 6, and will feature drivers from many of the racing series that will be here over the weekend. 2012 Media Guide FAST FACTS Story Ideas: Highly-competitive season makes returns to ovals at Milwaukee The2012 Firestone Indy Lights season returns to ovals for the next two races beginning with the Firestone Indy Lights 100 at the famed Milwaukee Mile. Firestone Indy Defending race winner Esteban Guerrieri leads the points by 15 markers over rookie. Lights 100 teammate Tristan Vautier with Sebastian Saavedra 16 points behind. Can one of the lead trio take control of the points at Milwaukee? Date / Time 5:45 p.m. (EDT) Veterans return in search champion’s scholarship Friday, June 15 Esteban Guerrieri, who finished second in the point standings in 2011, leads a talented group of drivers returning to Firestone Indy Lights for the 2012 season in hopes of Track securing the Mazda Road to Indy scholarship to graduate to the IZOD IndyCar Series in The Milwaukee 2013. Belle Isle race winner Gustavo Yacaman, who will race in his fourth Firestone Mile Freedom 100, Jorge Goncalvez, Juan Pablo Garcia, join Guerrieri, a two-time race (1-mile oval) winner in 2012, in the field for this weekend’s race. Distance Saavedra returns to chase title 100 laps/100 miles Sebastian Saavedra, who claimed three wins and the series rookie title in his two seasons in Firestone Indy Lights, is off to a strong start in his returns to the series. The TV Colombian returned AFS Racing/Andretti Autosport to victory lane at Barber. Le Mans, 19 June 2005, 08:00 Motorsport Audi keeps Le Mans lead in the night • Kristensen/Lehto/Werner defend lead during the night • Second American Audi R8 delayed by an accident • French Audi R8 making up lost ground After 16 hours, Team ADT Champion Racing continues to lead the Le Mans 24 AUDI AG Kommunikation Hours. Tom Kristensen, JJ Lehto and Marco Werner had a 3-lap lead over the 85045 Ingolstadt www.audi.com second place Pescarolo with their Audi R8 on Sunday morning. The two other Audi R8 sports cars with Frank Biela/Allan McNish/Emanuele Pirro and Jean- Marc Gounon/Franck Montagny/Stéphane Ortelli were in positions three and four respectively at 8 a.m. Tom Kristensen, JJ Lehto and Marco Werner took the lead on Saturday evening at 7:13 p.m. after Emanuele Pirro went off into the tyre barrier at Arnage corner with the sister car. Repairs of the damaged front section cost almost a lap. During the night, Frank Biela, Allan McNish and Emanuele Pirro reduced the gap to the leader to a about a minute. Shortly before 7 a.m., however, Allan McNish slid off at the Indianapolis corner due to a puncture damaging the right front suspension. Biela/McNish/Pirro lost six laps but were able to continue the race in third position. The "French" Audi R8 of Audi PlayStation Team ORECA have changed the right front suspension twice. Jean-Marc Gounon, Franck Montagny and Stéphane Ortelli lost over 20 minutes, but had moved back into fourth position by 8 a.m.
