Nat. Croat., Vol. 30, No. 1, 37–52, 2021, Zagreb. From 2016 to 2020 numerous surveys were undertaken to improve the knowledge of the pyraloid moth fauna of Biokovo Nature Park. On August 27th, 2020 one specimen of Psorosa mediterranella (Amsel, 1954) from the family Pyralidae was collected on a small meadow (985 m a.s.l.) on Mt Biok- ovo. In this paper, the first data about the occurrence of this species in Croatia are presented. The previ- ous mention in the literature for Croatia was considered to be a misidentification of the past and has thus not been included in the checklist of Croatian pyraloid moth species. P. mediterranella was recorded for the first time in Croatia in recent investigations and, after other additions to the checklist have been counted, is the 396th species in the Croatian pyraloid moth fauna. An overview of the overall pyraloid moth fauna of Croatia is given in the updated species list. • Cataleg Biodiversitat Albufera Mallorca 1998

  • A Provisional Checklist and Bibliography of the Pyraloidea of the Balkan Peninsula (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae & Crambidae) by Colin W
Atalanta 49 (1-4): 219-263, Marktleuthen (1. September 2018), ISSN 0171-0079 A provisional checklist and bibliography of the Pyraloidea of the Balkan Peninsula (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae & Crambidae) by COLIN W. PLANT & PREDRAG JAKšIć received 28.V.2018 Abstract: A literature search was undertaken by us to locate all published data on the Pyraloidea (Lepidoptera: Crambidae & Pyralidae) of the Balkan Peninsula of south-east Europe. All known paper publications to the end of June 2018 were researched. All publications apparently containing relevant data were read and scrutinised by us and valid data extracted to a database. With the exception of the Fauna Europaea and Lepiforum websites, electronic sources were not searched, because initial examination suggested that these were likely to include non-corroborated data. From the results of this exercise, a checklist of 569 species of Py- raloidea recorded in the Balkans (310 Crambidae and 259 Pyralidae) was created along with a bibliography of the 426 works con- sulted. Forty-four of the species in the checklist (~8%) were not included for the same area in a 1996 European checklist; this may reflect a genuine change in the fauna over the last quarter century. Some updating of nomenclature and related matters has been undertaken, but we have done only minimal checking of the data itself to eliminate any incorrect records. It should be noted that no attempt has been made to determine if the listed species remain extant within each country at year 2018 nor is any comment made concerning present-day status of any species. Both the checklist and the bibliography are regarded as provisional; a database will be maintained by the authors and will be updated from time to time.

  • Moth Report, 2018
MOTH REPORT 2018 Paula Banza 1 1. Introduction The present report shows the results of Moth Trapping during 2018 in Cruzinha grounds, the headquarters of A Rocha Portugal. The number of sessions throughout the year were only 38, given the lack of volunteers to perform this type of work. We used a Skinner type moth trap with a 125 mercury vapor lamp, placed in the garden area of Cruzinha. Most of the captures were made by a volunteer named Sara Roda and some by Paula Banza, the person in charge of the project. Moth identifications were done by Sara Roda, with the supervision of Paula Banza and the help of Bert Van der Auwermeulen and the photos are from Ana Valadares (www.anavaladaresfotografia.com). The main objective of this work is to gain some knowledge of the diversity, abundance and distribution of moths in some habitats of the Algarve. At the same to use this knowledge as an environmental education tool with students, tourists and other people with interest in the subject. In total we caught 4812 moths, of 328 species belonging to 32 families. The majority of the moths were identified to the species level, with the exception of the genera Agdistis and Hellinsia, of which was not possible to determine the species. In some cases it wasn´t possible to confirm the identification to date. They are included in the statistical report of the study and represented on table 2 with the notation *. 2. Trap location Table 1 registers the Geographical Coordinates for the location of the moth traps.

  • An Annotated Catalogue of the Lepidoptera Collection of Guido Lanfranco at the National Museum of Natural History in Malta
BULLETIN OF THE ENTOMOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF MALTA (2008) Vol. 1 : 67-78 An annotated catalogue of the Lepidoptera collection of Guido Lanfranco at the National Museum of Natural History in Malta Paul SAMMUT1 & John J. BORG2 ABSTRACT. An annotated list of the lepidoptera in the Lanfranco collection donated to the National Museum of Natural History of Mdina in Malta is included. Where relevant, comments on particular species or specimens are provided. KEY WORDS. Lepidoptera collection, Guido Lanfranco, National Museum of Natural History, Malta. PREAMBLE The entomological collection of Mr Guido Lanfranco was acquired by the National Museum of Natural History as a bequest by Mr G. Lanfranco himself. Most of the insect orders occurring in Malta are represented in the Lanfranco collection. Initially Mr Lanfranco had donated the entomological collection to Dr Louis Cassar who, on acquiring the material contacted the senior author who, in turn, suggested that such a collection should be deposited in an appropriate institution instead of it being dismembered amongst a number of private collections. The formal presentation of the collection to the museum was carried out on April 3, 2006, in the presence of Mr and Ms G. Lanfranco, Dr Mario Tabone, Ms Cecilia Xuereb, Dr L. Cassar and the authors. INTRODUCTION In Guido Lanfranco’s collection, the Lepidoptera are represented by 716 specimens belonging to 99 different species. Except for one species of Geometridae, one of Papilionidae and seven of Saturniidae (in all 13 specimens), all the other material has been ascertained by the collector to be of local origin. Unfortunately, 255 specimens (just over 35.6%) have no data label and in this category, a specimen of Euchloe ausonia (Hübner, 1804), a species possibly new to the lepidopterofauna of Malta is present.

Abstract: Microlepidoptera of the coastal wetlands of Catalonia (Lepidoptera) (I). The following report covers the results of investigation on the microlepidoptera of the coastal wetlands of Catalonia (wetlands of the Empordà region, Llobregat Delta and Ebre Delta). The study focus on the Ethmiidae and Crambidae families, represented by 1 and 61 species respectively. The species found, their bionomy, faunistics, periods of flight and distribution are presented, with additional information on those of major faunal interest, particularly those which are wetland-related.
