I would like to recognize the ongoing efforts and thank our office staff: Michèle, Shawn and Hailey. I would also like to thank Monte Miller for his time as our Executive Director and wish him continued success in his future endeavors. As the game of hockey continues to evolve, there will be some additional changes coming this season. To continue on the path we started on last season, body checking has now been removed at the A2 level for Minor Bantam and Bantam. There is now no body checking at A3 for all age categories and now Bantam and below at A2. Cross ice games in the Initiation Program has been a success and will benefit our kids in skill development at an early age. Our goal is to keep more kids in hockey and bring even more into the game. I am certain that will continue to see changes introduced on the national and local level in the next year. Thank you for the efforts of the Board of Directors of Hockey Winnipeg and those that are not returning this season. Hockey is a great game! Please remember, those are our kids on the ice and keep it fun! Have a great season. AA Deadline September 25, 2016 First Half of Schedule: Female AA September 21, 2016 A October 10, 2016 Second Half of Schedule: Female AA December 1, 2016 A December 1, 2016 Teams that have not requested an exemption for either the 1st or 2nd half of the schedule by the dates indicated above, shall have the opportunity to request a Travel Permit once the schedule has been released and the team does not have a game conflict. It will be the responsibility of the team applying for a Travel Permit to PRINT and RETAIN a copy of the permit and the return email (confirmation) stating that the exemption has been received by email by the correct date. The “Rink Behavior Policy” follows the Hockey Canada philosophy that “it is a privilege to play minor hockey, not a right.” OBJECTIVES: The basic objectives of the program are: 1. To foster and enhance mutual respect, understanding and the principles of good sportsmanship and Fair Play amongst all participants during minor hockey events. 2. To promote safety and respect, ensure fun, enjoyment and good competition at any minor hockey event. 3. The elimination of behaviors and actions which detract from a positive environment in which minor hockey games should take place. 4. Zero tolerance of any forms of abuse and/or harassment during minor hockey events from any participants. EXPECTATIONS: Coaches: • Respect all facilities and their staff. • Respect the officials and their decisions.
