Powered by Media Contact: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Phil Passarelli October 23, 2020 [email protected] Play Hockey Announces Dates For 2021 WYC Philly Philadelphia, PA / Voorhees, NJ - Play Hockey is pleased to announce that the World Selects Invitational - Philadelphia (WSI Philly) will return next May 1-5, as the World Youth Championships - Philadelphia (WYC Philly). WYC Philly is brought to you by the same team that founded and operated the WSI Philly event, and Selects Hockey teams (17 years) over the last 6 years, which featured dozens of current NHL players and hundreds of NHL draft picks. Play Hockey is excited to continue the tradition of this preeminent event, with the support of our partners. The 2021 WYC will host the world's best teams and players at the '06, ‘05, and ’04-birth years, respectively, to compete for an opportunity to earn the title of World Youth Champions! Mitch Larnerd, Founder of the WSI Philly said, “I am thrilled to have joined the Play Hockey team, backed by 50 Below Sports and Entertainment, and to be able to continue operating the annual WSI Philly, now the World Youth Championship in Philadelphia. Play Hockey’s General Manager, Rhys van Kemenade released this statement, “Play Hockey is excited to continue the great tradition of tomorrow's future NHL stars playing in the prestigious World Youth Championships - Philadelphia in May 2021. We have the same great team of people that have put this event on in Philadelphia and New Jersey for the past 6 years and we are looking forward to another great event this May.” Over 150 NCAA Coaches, Junior Hockey and NHL Scouts will be looking for the Next Top Prospect. These teams will be showcased in front of North America’s top college recruiters, prep schools, executives, coaches and scouts from USA Hockey, Hockey Canada, the CHL (OHL, WHL, QMJHL), USHL, NAHL, NCAA plus European and NHL scouts. All looking for something special at the World Youth Championships. Scouts will have the opportunity to evaluate players over five days in the Philadelphia/Voorhees Metro area. The event takes place at the two premier locations; The Virtua Health Flyers Skate Zone (Home of the Philadelphia Flyers) and Hollydell Ice Arena home of Philadelphia Hockey Club and South Jersey native Johnny Gaudreau (Calgary Flames). Over the coming months, we’ll be featuring key players in releases and on social media, so stay tuned.
