 Gaganjeet clinches Macau Open Golf Title

o Gaganjeet Bhullar lifted his eighth Asian Tour title at the Macau Open.

o hoopster Amjyot Singh became the third Indian after and Palpreet Singh Brar to walk into the National Association (NBA) league.

o The MIDC is presently in control of nearly 1.5 lakh hectares of land, in various stages of acquisition.

o Lewis Hamilton won the U.S. Grand Prix.

o According to Geological Survey of , Raw food items sold in Kolkata city markets have Lead concentration far above the permissible limit.

o Samples of raw food items collected from 12 markets in the city showed a mean Lead (Pb) concentration between 3.78 and 43.35 mg/kg (average 23.56 mg/kg).  IAF Exercise on Lucknow-Agra Expressway

o The Lucknow-Agra Expressway will be closed for commuters from 10 am on October 23 till 2 pm on October 24 as the IAF plans to conduct a major touchdown exercise.

o 20 planes, including the AN-32, will take part in exercise on the highway.

o The AN-32 are meant for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. It can bring a large amount of relief material and can also help in evacuating people.  Shinzo Abe reelected as PM of Japan

o Japanese PM Shinzo Abe’s Liberal Democratic Party secured over two- thirds majority in the lower house of Parliament.

o The win gives Abe’s ruling coalition, which already holds majority in the upper house, free reign to pass legislation in the country.

o Abe is likely to acquire the title of Japan’s longest serving Prime Minister. His four-year term was to otherwise end in December 2018.  Dawn Mission Extended at Ceres

o NASA has authorized a second extension of the Dawn mission at Ceres, the largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

o During this extension, the spacecraft will descend to lower altitudes than ever before at the dwarf planet, which it has been orbiting since March 2015.

o Dawn is the only mission ever to orbit two extraterrestrial targets.  No probe against judges in Rajasthan

o Rajasthan government has passed an ordinance which seeks to protect both serving and former judges, magistrates and public servants in

o The Criminal Laws (Rajasthan Amendment) Ordinance, 2017 has been promulgated in this regard.

o The ordinance amends the Criminal Code of Procedure, 1973.  PGs for cattle to boost milk production

o Haryana government has decided to introduce a new concept for people living in high-rises, or in urban areas, who want to rear their own cattle and produce "quality milk" for their consumption.

o The government will set up PGs for cattle for them.

o The objective is to make Haryana the best state in milk production.  Mega textile park in Warangal

o Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao laid the foundation stone for the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park.

o It is a fibre-to-fabric integrated textile cluster proposed to be built on 1,200 acres of land in the Warangal district.

o This is going to be one of the largest textile parks in the country.  BSF organises Half Marathon 2017

o The BSF Half Marathon 2017 was flagged off in the memory of martyrs.

o It was organised by the Minister of State for Youth Affairs (I/C) & Sports and Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

o Kerala government has given green signal to a proposal of the state Startup Mission to accord sabbatical leave to the faculty members of all colleges who intend to establish startups.

o Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth has lifted the Denmark Open Superseries trophy at Odense, Denmark.

o In the title clash, Srikanth, seeded 8th, defeated South Korea’s Lee Hyun-il in straight games, 21-10, 21-5 to bag his third Super Series title of the year and fifth overall.

o Kidambi Srikanth has recently (June 2017) won Australia Open Super Series title.  Bi-Annual Naval Commanders’ Conference

o A 4 day Naval Commanders’ Conference is scheduled at New Delhi from 24-27 Oct 17.

o The Conference serves as a platform for institutionalised interaction between the Naval Commanders and senior government officials with the Chiefs of Indian Army and Air Force.

o They will review major Operational, Materiel, Human Resource, Training and Administrative activities undertaken in the last six months  Sitharaman to attend meet in Philippines

o In her first foreign visit as Defence Minister, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman left for the Philippines to attend the Southeast Asian Defence Ministers’ Meeting.

o The two-day ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting will discuss ways to enhance defense and security cooperation among the member nations.

o Sitharaman will also hold bilateral talks with her counterparts from a number of countries.  India win hockey Asia Cup

o Modi has inaugurated the first phase of ambitious Ghogha-Dahej Roll-on Roll-off ferry service at Ghogha in Bhavnagar district in Gujarat.

o With this, the distance between Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions could be covered in less than an hour via-sea route.

o This passenger movement service reduced the distance between the Ghogha and Dahej from 310 kilometres by road to just 30 kilometres.
