CREDIT RECOVERY OPTIONS

At Lutheran High School South, each student is required to successfully complete and fulfill a certain number of credits for each course that they take. In the instance that a student fails to receive credit for a course for any semester, they are responsible for recovering that credit prior to the beginning of the following school year.

Lutheran High School South gives students 3 options for recovering failed credits:

SUMMER SCHOOL COURSES

IF STUDENTS CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE IN SUMMER SCHOOL, THEY WOULD NEED TO DO SO THROUGH THE PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT IN WHICH THEY RESIDE.

MEHLVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT

• LOCATION: • DATES: June 5 – June 30 (Monday-Friday) • HOURS: Semester 1 Classes (7:30am-10:30am), Semester 2 Classes (11:00am-2:00pm) • REGISTRATION: Visit the Mehlville High School Guidance Office anytime after Spring Break • COST: Free of charge to Mehlville District Residents

OVERVIEW: 2017 High School Summer Acceleration in the Mehlville School District will feature the opportunity for students to earn up to 1 full credit toward high school graduation requirements. The extension of the school week from four to five days and a lengthening of the total day make this possible. Students will have the option of attending a half day or full day, resulting in the ability to take up to two classes this summer. Mehlville will continue to offer lunch and an in-district shuttle in the morning, mid-day (transition), and afternoon between and Mehlville High School.

SCHEDULE OF COURSES: Courses must meet a minimum enrollment to be offered in a traditional format. Should a course fail to meet this minimum, a virtual option will be available. Classes that reach maximum enrollment will have a waitlist.

AFFTON SCHOOL DISTRICT

• LOCATION: • DATES: Session 1 (June 3-June 14) – Registration Deadline: May 10th & Session 2 (June 17-June 28) – Registration Deadline: June 7th • HOURS: 8:00am – 2:30pm • REGISTRATION: Students residing in the Affton School District may enroll with the approval of their principal or counselor. Nonresident students may apply to attend summer school on a space-available basis with the approval of their principal or counselor. • COST: District residents are given priority for enrollment in summer school courses and receive summer services at no charge. Effective in 1994, nonresident students were allowed to apply for participation in summer school on a space-available, tuition free basis under the provisions of Reorganized Statutes of the State of Missouri 167.277.

LINDBERGH SCHOOL DISTRICT

• LOCATION: Lindbergh High School • DATES: June 12 – July 20 • HOURS: 1st Class (7:45am – 10:25am), 2nd Class (10:35am-1:15pm) • REGISTRATION: Any student who is currently enrolled or residing in the Lindbergh School District and has completed the 8th grade may enroll in the summer school program at no charge. Non-resident students may enroll if space is available for a fee with approval from their counselor or principal. • COST: Residents of the Lindbergh School District may enroll in any course free of charge except for Driver’s Education Part II. The fee for students enrolled in Driver’s Education II is $175.00. Non-resident tuition is $300 per course.
