If not, see the teacher on duty” Monday 6 March 2017 Mr Beard has now taken up his new temporary position with the LMBR deployment team and I have settled into the big chair with lots of new exciting things going to take place over the next few terms. We will be auditioning and setting up our school musical in the next couple of weeks to be held towards the end of Term 3. Miss Matthews is training in the L3 Literacy Program, Mrs McIntyre will be travelling to Sydney to attend the Down Syndrome training conference and I will be heading to Albury after being selected as part of the High Impact Leadership Program; so lots of new learning for the staff to pass on to each other and the students. We would like to welcome Miss Brooke Rossetto who will be working with Mrs McRae for the next 3 weeks for her teaching practicum. She comes to us from Armidale University. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to come in and have a chat. Kristie Symonds Afternoon Dismissal Just a friendly reminder about the afternoon dismissal procedure. Students are escorted to their lines under the shelter ready for the 3:10pm dismissal. Parents are requested to wait near the shelter for the children to be officially let go. Children are not permitted to play on the school equipment after school even under parental supervision. Children are to wait with their parents until they leave the school. Head start bus children are taken to the bus when it arrives. Panda bus children are then put on the bus. Walkers and riders are also let go during this time. Rankins Springs bus children are then supervised until the bus arrives at approx. 3:45pm. Please note: If you need to pick your child up before the teacher on bus duty has dismissed them please see Mrs Colbert in the office. Please don’t collect them out of the lines or on the way to the shelter. The back car park is also an area where extra care needs to be taken. Keep an eye out, hold a hand and be aware of your surroundings. Parking in a manner that allows a flow of traffic will help with the congestion in the afternoons. Young Leaders The Beelbangera School Captains represented the school at the Young Leaders Conference in Sydney last week. Page 1 Term 1 – Week 7 Proud Member of the Griffith Community of Schools Monday, 6th March 2017 Ordering from the Beelbangera Store Just a reminder that Coke or other fizzy drinks are not appropriate for school; juice boxes, flavoured milk or pop tops are a much better option. Toys at School Lots of children are bringing toys with them to school to use during lunch and recess. This is fine within reason; only bringing 1 or 2 cars to play with is easier to manage. Children bring things from home at their own risk. Most classes have a special place within the class where the toys are kept safe but once out in the playground the children are responsible for their own things. Putting their names on them may help. Zone Swimming Carnival Congratulations to the nineteen students who attended the Zone Swimming Carnival last Wednesday on your excellent behaviour, attitude and efforts. We have nine students travelling to Albury to swim at the Riverina PSSA Swimming Carnival next Monday. They are the Junior boys' relay team (who won their event!) of Hamish, Hayden, who will also swim breaststroke, Benjamin and Nate. The Senior girls' relay team of Megan, Timeeka, Caitlyn, who will also swim backstroke and Amelia who will also swim freestyle and butterfly. Lewis will also be attending and will swim in the breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly, and was also the runner‐up in the 11 years boys’ championship. Good luck everyone! Goodbye and Thanks from Mrs Rolfe I wanted to take the opportunity to say a heartfelt goodbye and thank you to you all for making me a part of the Beelbangera Public School family for the last 12 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time teaching the students and working with staff and parents. I have always and will continue to tell others that Beelbangera is a little patch of heaven and I leave with a little sadness but many happy memories. My parting advice has to be....... keep on grooving and let a little Kylie Minogue into your day.
