WESTERN CENTRAL ATLANTIC FISHERY COMMISSION (WECAFC) EIGHTH SESSION OF THE SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY GROUP (SAG) Review of the State of Fisheries in the Western Central Atlantic (FAO Area 31) Merida, Mexico, 3-4 November 2017 Review of the State of Fisheries in the Western Central Atlantic • Objectives: • Update the state of fisheries in the region of the Western Central Atlantic (FAO Area 31) by adding current information on reported landings up to 2015, reviewing recent assessment reports and ancillary data for different species/groups of species. • Synthetize information on stock status for the 33 species/groups of species used by FAO to assess the evolution in time of fishery resources in the region. • Receive input from SAG members and participants regarding assessment information and status of stocks.
