  • Prince All Albums Free Download Hitnrun: Phase Two
prince all albums free download HITnRUN: Phase Two. Following quickly on the heels of its companion, HITnRUN: Phase Two is more a complement to than a continuation of its predecessor. Prince ditches any of the lingering modern conveniences of HITnRUN: Phase One -- there's nary a suggestion of electronics and it's also surprisingly bereft of guitar pyrotechnics -- in favor of a streamlined, even subdued, soul album. Despite its stylistic coherence, Prince throws a few curve balls, tossing in a sly wink to "Kiss" on "Stare" and opening the album with "Baltimore," a Black Lives Matter protest anthem where his outrage is palpable even beneath the slow groove. That said, even the hardest-rocking tracks here -- that would be the glammy "Screwdriver," a track that would've been an outright guitar workout if cut with 3rdEyeGirl -- is more about the rhythm than the riff. Compared to the relative restlessness of HITnRUN: Phase One, not to mention the similarly rangy Art Official Age, this single-mindedness is initially overwhelming but like any good groove record, HITnRUN: Phase Two winds up working best over the long haul, providing elegant, supple mood music whose casualness plays in its favor. Prince isn't showing off, he's settling in, and there are considerable charms in hearing a master not trying so hard. THE PURPLE XPERIENCE - BIOGRAPHY Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Purple Xperience has been bringing the memories of Prince and The Revolution to audiences of all generations. Led by Matt Fink (a/k/a Doctor Fink, 3x Grammy Award Winner and original member of Prince and The Revolution from 1978 to 1991), The Purple Xperience imaginatively styles the magic of Prince’s talent in an uncannily unmatched fashion through its appearance, vocal imitation and multi-instrumental capacity on guitar and piano. Backed by the best session players in the Twin Cities, Matt Fink and Marshall Charloff have undoubtedly produced the most authentic re-creation of Prince and The Revolution in the world, leaving no attendee disappointed. MATT “DOCTOR” FINK Keyboardist, record producer, and songwriter Doctor Fink won two Grammy Awards in 1985 for the motion picture soundtrack album for “Purple Rain”, in which he appeared. He received another Grammy in 1986 for the album “Parade: Music from the Motion Picture ‘Under the Cherry Moon'”, the eighth studio album by Prince and The Revolution. Matt also has two American Music Awards for “Purple Rain”, which has sold over 25 million copies worldwide since its release. Doctor Fink continued working with Prince until 1991 as an early member of the New Power Generation. He was also a member of the jazz-fusion band, Madhouse, which was produced by Prince and Eric Leeds, Prince’s saxophonist. Notable work with Prince includes co-writing credits on the songs “Dirty Mind”, “Computer Blue”, “17 Days”, “America”, and “It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Night,” as well as performing credits on the albums “Dirty Mind”, “Controversy”, “1999”, “Purple Rain”, “Around the World in a Day”, “Parade”, “Sign ‘O’ the Times”, “The Black Album”, and “Lovesexy”.

  • 3, 2020 Minneapolis, MN Conference Presenters and Abstracts
An Interdisciplinary Conference June 2 – 3, 2020 Minneapolis, MN Conference Presenters and Abstracts Hosted by The School of Arts and Media, University of Salford, UK Organized by Dr. Kirsty Fairclough, School of Arts and Media, University of Salford Kristen Zschomler, Minneapolis-based historian and writer, Sound History, LLC Chris Aguilar-Garcia Independent Scholar, USA Dirty Mind and Controversy: Creating a Queer Icon Sex and sexuality were key elements of the Prince persona and catalog from the release of his debut album and first single, “Soft and Wet.” While his early releases were essentially heteronormative and barely transgressive, particularly at the tail end of the sexually liberated disco era, in 1980’s “Dirty Mind,” we see the beginnings of a queer sensibility. Beyond what critic Ken Tucker termed a “liberating lewdness” in his Rolling Stone review, the album also included Prince’s first songs of outright social commentary with “Uptown,” and “Partyup.” In “Uptown,” Prince is pegged as gay because of his clothes and hair, and in “Partyup,” the 30- minute album closes out to the defiant chant “You’re gonna have to fight your own damn war / ‘Cause we don’t wanna fight no more!” A year later, in the title track to 1981’s Controversy, Prince ponders, “Am I straight or gay?,” a bold question at a time fellow Queer icons Elton John and Freddie Mercury were not publicly out. In “Sexuality,” Prince goes on to proclaim the Second Coming not as the return of Christ, but the dawn of an “anything goes” sexual revolution free of segregation. Within the framework of these two definitive albums, Prince solidly planted himself in the pantheon of Queer icons, laying the groundwork for a blockbuster career that relentlessly defied social and industry norms.

World War I changed the life of words and images in art, radically and forever. —ROBERT HUGHES This thesis is submitted to Macquarie University in fulfilment of the requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy in English. The work is entirely my own and has not been submitted elsewhere for examination. Signed: Nathan Finger Date: ii Acknowledgments First and foremost thanks must go to Paul for the guidance and advice you gave every step of way, especially in the wayward early days of this project.
