Sellout Crowd Greets Malcolm Gladwell at Leadership Lecture Series All lectures are open to the public. Lectures begin at 7 p.m. in Angelico Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. The author of the Tipping Point: How Little Things Make a Big Difference; Blink: the Power of Thinking without Thinking; and Outliers, Gladwell presented his latest book, David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants. The speaker series, a cooperative effort between Dominican’s ILS and Book Passage, is celebrating its 10th anniversary at Dominican. Each year, the Leadership Lecture Series features some of the country's leading figures from the world of business, politics, entertainment, academia, and literature. It has entertained and educated thousands of Marin County and San Francisco Bay Area residents. Gladwell, who penned the international bestseller What the Dog Saw in 2009, was named one of Time‘s 100 Most Influential People in 2005. He has been a staff writer with The New Yorker since 1996. His 1999 profile of Ron Popeil won a National Magazine Award. From 1987 to 1996, he was a reporter with the Washington Post, where he covered business, science, and then served as the newspaper’s New York City bureau chief. Gladwell will be followed on the 2013 fall lecture series schedule by Elizabeth Gilbert, one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, on October 16; critically- acclaimed poet Billy Collins on November 7; and Emmy Award-winning Food Network host Giada de Laurentiis on November 16.
